---- Chapter 53: Let Me See Where You Gained Weight Aaron had been buried in work lately-it took him three whole days just to wrap up the chaos at the company. By the time he landed at Greystone Airport, it was already Saturday. The terminal was packed, as always-people rushing to say hello, to say goodbye. Announcements echoed overhead in a constant loop. This place? It was a nonstop carousel of comings and goings. In the past, Aaron always traveled solo. Business trips were routine, impersonal-he never felt anything about leaving or coming back.
Watching strangers hug and cry at the arrival gate? He used to think they were being melodramatic. ---- But now... he got it. Today, he was that guy-the one anxiously waiting to reunite with his family. Clara and Leo were coming to pick him up, and he'd been counting down the seconds since the moment he boarded the plane. Usually, on red-eyes like this one, he'd use the time to sleep and recover. Not this time. Even in first class-quiet as a library, just a handful of people around-he couldn't relax. The flight felt like it lasted an eternity.
Looking back, he kind of regretted not flying economy. At least back there, the chaos and noise might've distracted him enough to pass the time. When the plane finally landed and he got off through the VIP exit, the first thing he saw in the crowded arrival hall was-Clara and Leo. They were dressed in matching outfits-white ---- T-shirts, light blue jeans. Simple, but eye-catching. Even in a sea of people, they stood out like a family straight out of a magazine. A warm rush of emotion surged in Aaron's chest. He felt like his whole heart was glowing.

Leo was the first to run up, arms wide like a little jet plane. Aaron bent down just in time to scoop him up, hugging him tight. The kid wrapped his arms around Aaron's neck and planted a wet, giggly kiss on his cheek. "Daddy! I missed you so, so much!" Clara followed behind, smiling so sweetly her eyes curved into perfect crescent moons. Her long hair was tied up into a neat bun, her face bare of makeup, and her skin was glowing. Her features were delicate and sculpted-but it was her eyes that really stole the spotlight.
Big, dark, and deep, like they held a hidden lake-and in that lake was him, reflected perfectly. She wasn't wearing a single accessory, but her ---- presence radiated effortless elegance. The kind that turned heads without even trying. She walked up to him with a smile that tugged at his soul. "Long flight? You must be exhausted." She reached out, trying to take his suitcase. Aaron put Leo down, wrapped an arm around her shoulder, and kissed her forehead softly. "I'm fine. Not tired at all. And don't worry-I'll carry the bag.
It's a bit heavy." Around them, a few onlookers paused mid-stride, stealing glances and whispering: "Damn, who is that guy? Is he a celebrity?" "He looks super familiar..." "Is that woman not wearing makeup? She's stunning!" "Their kid is adorable-did you see those matching outfits? Someone find out where they got them!" But before the nosy crowd could whip out their phones to start filming, Aaron had already led ---- his little family off toward the parking lot. He glanced at Clara, eyebrows raised. "You drove here yourself?" Clara sighed dramatically.
"I hadn't driven in ages, and I was itching to try. Thought I could handle it... nearly gave myself a panic attack. Never again." She handed him the car keys. "You're driving." Aaron took the keys and slipped into the driver's seat. "Alright, alright. Next time I'll help you practice more. Or maybe we just get youa full-time driver-it'd be easier." Clara shook her head instantly. "No way. I'd hate having a stranger living in our house. Besides, I don't go out that much." He could relate. He didn't like extra people in his space either.
"But won't it be inconvenient getting to work?" "It's not far. I walk. It's basically my only form of exercise these days." She sighed. "And I've already gained weight recently."
