---- Chapter 83: Being Mrs. Devereaux Can Also Make You Money! Aaron and Clara soon drifted into other topics, the conversation light and easy. At the same time, in another part of town, Asher Nash and Linsey had just climbed into a sleek black car. But Asher's face looked stormy-like he was two seconds from exploding. His eyes were ice-cold, sharp as blades, and radiated pure menace. He snapped, "Who the hell is that woman with Aaron?" The guy in the driver's seat perked up. "Oh, I know this one. Heard she's his wife.

My dad saw them together at a charity gala recently." Asher rubbed his lips, the corner of his mouth curling into a sinister smirk. "Now that's interesting." The guy offered excitedly, "Want me to help you mess with him a little?" Asher reached over and smacked him upside the head. "Cut the crap. Even your dad lost to Aaron in court. You think you can take him on? If you screw this up, who's gonna clean up your mess?" ---- This driver's father was none other than the lawyer who'd once tried to defend Asher in court-and gotten thoroughly destroyed by Aaron.

Linsey glanced over, her voice dripping with jealousy. "Wait, what-are you into that woman now, too?" What was wrong with men lately? Were they all brain-dead? She and Asher had grown up together-family friends, childhood sweethearts, a picture-perfect match on paper. They'd even dated for a while. Then Asher had gotten nailed for drunk driving and hit-and-run. The whole thing exploded. Linsey's family shipped her off overseas to avoid the scandal, and their relationship faded into nothing. Lately, Linsey had been rubbing elbows with the elite again and had bumped into Aaron more than once.

And she had to admit, the guy was the whole damn package. Unfortunately, Clara had already snatched him up. Now that Asher had faked a "serious illness" to sneak out of the hospital and reconnect with her, and since she wasn't exactly busy these days, the two had started casually hooking up again. Asher dipped his head, kissed her deeply, and gave her chest a not-so-subtle squeeze. "With you around, how could I look at anyone else?" ---- Linsey let out a breathy giggle, clearly pleased. The friend up front chimed in again, "So...

uh, Asher, you want me to drop you back at the hospital now?" Asher smacked him again. "Are you kidding me? I just got out, and you wanna send me straight back? Take us to that hotel up ahead!" He had a warm, willing beauty in his arms. No way was he letting the night go to waste. After all, he hadn't touched a woman in a long, long time. Every time he thought about life in prison, his teeth itched with fury. His hatred for Aaron ran deep-bone-deep. Guys like him, rich kids from powerful families-who didn't race cars, party, and drink like lunatics? So what if someone got hit by accident?

Toss some money their way, problem solved. That was how it had always worked. At first, Asher hadn't taken the incident seriously at all. He'd hit someone, shrugged it off, and headed straight to his next party. Who could've guessed the guy ended up crippled-and actually hired Aaron as his lawyer? ---- The charge came with a sentence of three to seven years-and Aaron had made sure Asher got the full seven. Seven years. That was an entire chapter of his life down the drain. His youth-wasted. Asher clenched his jaw so hard it ached. And now, he still had four miserable years left.

After dinner, Aaron and Clara strolled over to VibeVault Cinemas, hand in hand. It was year-end blockbuster season, and the theater was absolutely packed. This was Aaron's first time setting foot inside a movie theater. Honestly, he looked a little out of place-like a man from another world. Scarlett's assistant was already waiting in the lobby. When she spotted Clara, she hurried over with a smile. "Clara, Scarlett asked me to give you these tickets." Clara thanked her, then looked down at the ticket stubs. Front row seats? Her eyebrow shot up.

"Who else is sitting in the front?" The assistant replied, "Scarlett, along with the director and the producer."
