---- delicate and demanding... Her voice caught, and she choked back a sob. "That's Mom's piano, isn't it?" Clara quickly shifted the focus, walking over and lifting the dust cover, unlocking the keyboard. Karen smiled softly. "Mom, let's hear how Clara plays." Lori wiped at her eyes. "Alright, alright!" Clara settled on the bench, testing a few keys before selecting a lively piece. Her fingers moved like water over the keys, light and graceful. Under the bright crystal chandelier, her white chiffon dress flowing, Clara's delicate hands danced across the piano.
Her features bore a striking resemblance to Sue. Lori was spellbound, unable to stop the tears that sprang to her eyes. Clara hurried over, looping her arm around her grandmother's and teased, "Oh no! I must be terrible. It's a happy song, and you're crying already!" "Not at alll I'm happy! Truly happy," Lori said, brushing Clara's hair back with a smile. Half an hour later, Lori's eyelids drooped with fatigue. She tried to speak more but couldn't fight off sleep. ---- Karen and Clara helped her back to bed. Within minutes, she was asleep. Clara said her goodbyes.

Karen enthusiastically walked her to the car, waving as she drove away before returning to her study. Donald lowered his documents and looked at Karen. "She's gone?" Karen nodded. "Grandma's asleep, and Clara left. She's clever, knows how to act, and beautiful-far prettier than Dana. No wonder Aaron fancies her. Even heroes fall for a beauty." Donald scoffed. "Beautiful doesn't mean anything. There are plenty of beautiful women. Wasn't Sue beautiful? Look what happened to her." He stood and approached Karen. "I still prefer a smart woman like you." Karen smiled, shy as an eighteen-year-old.
The West family was undeniably handsome. Karen looked at her husband, still suave in his fifties. Too bad Dana hadn't inherited the family's looks. For women, appearance mattered. No matter what men claimed, they were drawn to beauty. "Oh, Clara mentioned she's going to Silverton this ---- weekend," Karen added. Donald nodded. "Makes sense. Wherever her husband is, that's home." Back at home, Clara opened the small gift from. Karen-a bank card. Karen had actually given her a bank card as a welcome gift.
The next afternoon at the office, Clara received another afternoon tea delivery from Aaron's team. It was the third one that week. She opened the box and smiled. A heart-shaped matcha cake was inside. Mia peeked over. "Thanks for the cake! Let's split it." Clara laughed. "No problem, it's enough for everyone." Mia whispered in awe, "What kind of husband do you have? The chef at the Glittering Starlight Hotel is basically your personal baker now. Three days in a row. Dr. Layla added, "Your husband is every girl's dream.
Attentive like that, rare enough while dating, almost unheard-of after marriage." Mia grinned. "Seriously! When can we meet him? I'm ---- dying of curiosity." Clara shrugged. "He's on a business trip. He's not as perfect as you think." Dr. Hayes gasped. "On a business trip and still thinking of you every day? Your charm knows no bounds. What's your secret for managing a husband?" Dr. Layla joked, "Her secret is obvious-looks and figure." Clara blushed. "Wow, that's sweet. Like tasting dessert." Dr. Layla laughed. "Flattery aside, it's true." Clara leaned in, lowering her voice.
"Are you off Friday? I'll buy you coffee for a week if we swap shifts. Deal?" "Do you take me for a fool? That's not enough," Dr. Layla said, eyes wide. "Unless you add two small desserts." Clara giggled. "Deal! Love you.' Dr. Layla smirked. "Okay, spill-what are you planning Friday?" Clara feigned mystery. "Surprise inspection on my husband."
