---- Chapter 94: Kids Are Demons, He Said By the time Miranda arrived at noon, Scarlett was already sitting primly in the living room, waiting. As Miranda kicked off her heels and slipped into house slippers, she glanced at the door panel. "Wait a sec-you're the one who always says you can't remember new codes. Why'd you change the front door password?" Scarlett leaned back lazily. "I swapped it to the date I signed my contract with the company. Easier to remember." Miranda's stomach tightened. Bringing up contracts out of nowhere? That couldn't be good.
Was Scarlett, fresh off her Best Actress win with offers raining down, getting cocky enough to think about leaving the agency? Keeping her expression calm, Miranda set the takeout on the dining table. "Come on, lunch is ---- ready. Let's eat and talk." Scarlett disappeared into the kitchen for utensils. "Thanks, Miranda! You sure you don't want some?" "L already ate." Miranda's gaze lingered on her star client. God, Scarlett really was a stunner.

And to think-years ago, she had picked this girl out of a crowd of rookies, the only one without formal training but with a spark brighter than the rest. They'd stumbled, fought, and clawed their way forward together, and now Scarlett stood at the very top of the industry. Roles, endorsements, scripts-she was drowning in offers. If she really wanted to terminate her contract, Miranda knew even with the penalty paid, she'd never swallow that loss. But before Scarlett had even finished eating, Miranda couldn't wait any longer. "Alright, what's going on?" Scarlett went straight to it.
"I'm pregnant. I need to scale back work." ---- Miranda blinked, then let out a long breath. After all that mental buildup, this almost felt... manageable. "Are you sure? And when's the wedding?" "Not one hundred percent confirmed yet," Scarlett admitted. "You're the first person I've told." Miranda smiled warmly. "Thank you for trusting me. In that case-congratulations." Out of all the artists she'd managed, Scarlett was hands down the most disciplined.
No scandals, only one relationship in all these years, and she had even gone along with the fake on-screen couple with Cyrus when the company needed it. Seeing her happy made Miranda genuinely glad. Scarlett's eyes were steady. "I actually don't plan on getting married. That's why I wanted your advice. For the next year and a half, I'll have to take fewer jobs, and there are plenty I can't do at all. Still, I'll do as much as possible. I don't want to vanish from the public eye for too long. If the ---- company refuses, I'll terminate and pay damages. But if they agree, that'd be ideal.
I really need you with me on this." Miranda didn't hesitate. "No need to worry-the company won't let you go. We'll deal with it together." Scarlett finally relaxed, appetite rushing back. She dug into her food with renewed vigor. Miranda tilted her head. "You've been with Derek for years. You're not thinking marriage, even now?" Scarlett's expression dimmed. "Our relationship isn't at that stage." Miranda studied her, then nodded firmly. "As long as you're sure. You have my full support." "Thanks, Miranda." Scarlett's chest tightened with gratitude.
Getting pregnant out of wedlock was never easy to swallow-not for the public, and especially not for a celebrity. She had already braced herself for harsh judgment, yet her agent had taken it all in stride.
