---- Chapter 84: The Four-Person Hangout A few more minutes ticked by, then the lights went out, the big screen lit up, and the movie kicked off. Right from the opening scene, it hit hard-explosions everywhere, flames roaring, soldiers charging non-stop into battle after battle. The theater's sound system was killer, and Clara was sucked right into the story in no time. Suddenly, a sneaky voice whispered from the back row, "So, what's for dinner tonight?" Clara spun around and saw it was Derek! "Holy crap, you scared me!
When did you get here?" "L've been here since you all were chatting about the movie," Derek said casually. "By the way, what kind of movies does Aaron like?" Clara wasn't about to answer that one. Aaron piped up, "Did you just say what's for dinner tonight?" Derek smoothly switched gears. Since Scarlett found eating out a hassle, he said, "How about dinner at my ---- place? Steak okay?" Clara shot back, "No thanks! We had steak for lunch already." Derek shrugged, "Then seafood? I'll have someone pick it up now-perfect timing." Clara gave a thumbs-up and dove back into the movie.
What was supposed to be a chill date watching a flick with Aaron turned into a total plot addiction. Brutal, ruthless war scenes mixed with a heartbreaking love story. Scarlett and Cyrus played a doomed couple in the film. Their acting was on point, and Clara bawled so hard she lost count of the tissues she went through. Aaron found it kind of funny-guess from now on, he'd only be watching comedies with her. When the movie ended, the three waited until most people had left before heading out. Sebastian came over to see her off. "Clara, I might swing by Silverton in a few days.

Send me your mom's cemetery address-I want to pay my respects." Clara agreed and quickly sent the address on her phone. ---- She split off from Derek since reporters were around, guessing Scarlett was probably waiting by the parking lot. Derek's place was in a fancy complex near the law firm, on the fifteenth floor-a huge, stylish flat with killer views. Over 1,800 square feet, but only one master bedroom, one study, one karaoke room, and a living room so big you could jog laps in it-total bachelor pad goals. In the open kitchen, two housekeepers were busy prepping food.
By the time Clara and Aaron arrived, Scarlett and Derek had already gotten back and were cozied up in the living room, totally lovey-dovey. Clara covered her eyes on purpose but peeked through her fingers and yelled, "What are you two doing, huh?!" Derek, with his thick skin, just shrugged and let go naturally. Scarlett was still wearing that stunning dress from the theater, looking drop-dead gorgeous. She stood up boldly and pretended to scold, "You guys really showed up at the worst possible time!
Right in the middle of something important!" Clara blinked her big eyes and teased, "Pretend I didn't ---- say anything-keep going, keep going! I'm just here to observe and learn." Scarlett kept a straight face and said, "I'm worried Aaron's going to blame me for corrupting you." "And besides," she leaned in and whispered to Clara, "won't Aaron be begging you to 'put out the fire' later anyway?" Clara felt her face flush hot as a furnace. Her mind flashed back to last night's "firefighting" scene. No doubt, her cheeks were burning bright red.
Without thinking, she reached out and scratched the soft spot at Scarlett's waist. Aaron watched nervously from the side, worried Clara might get the short end of the stick. He quickly said, "Alright, cut it out-come sit." Derek threw an arm around Aaron's shoulders. "What's there to be afraid of? Scarlett's just training your wife. At the end of the day, who's the lucky one? You should be grinning like a kid in a candy store!" With that, he pulled Aaron into the study to talk. Scarlett grabbed Clara's hand and sat down with a curious look.
"Still holding back, huh?" Clara turned her face away, not wanting to meet Scarlett's gaze.
