---- most nail-biting moment of the day! Who will take the crown? Only thirty meters to gol" The crowd held its breath, the thunder of hooves the only sound. Clara's gaze locked on the finish line. "Twenty meters! Ten meters! Five meters to go! Oh my God-it's Moonfire! Number seven, Moonfire, takes the crown! What an upset! Moonfire, who has raced eight times before with its best finish only third place, has just claimed its first championship! Congratulations-our racetrack's very first champion of the year..." The announcer's voice thundered on, brimming with excitement.

Aaron slapped palms with Clara, laughing. "You really are my lucky charm! I've raised that horse for years, and this is the first time it's brought me a win!" Dana's face twisted, bitter at the loss. Just two seconds short! Clara's radiant smile made her grind her teeth. She forced out, "Clara, you've got some real luck.' Clara nodded agreeably. "I'll admit it-I'm no pro like Miss West. I just got lucky today." Lucky? Hah. Luck didn't come out of nowhere. She might not have studied horses, but she knew one thing: pride comes before the fall.

---- Just look at Ironheart's jockey, strutting around like he had eyes on top of his head. History had always taught one lesson-arrogance always paid the price when it mattered most. Dana was left speechless by Clara's frankness. Donald patted her shoulder. "It's just a race. Someone wins, someone loses-it's normal. Let's see what happens in the next one." The second race lined up, another eight horses at the starting gate. Moonfire sat this one out-Aaron had only entered it for a single race, more for the thrill than anything else.

Ironheart and Hurricane were still running, but all eyes were on a new favorite: number one, Black Iron, a German warhorse with mixed bloodlines. Known for its endurance and adaptability, it had even performed well in the Olympics. Everyone listened quietly as Dana delivered her analysis. Mr. Cole finally asked, "So who's got the better shot-Ironheart or Black Iron?" Dana studied the track again through her binoculars before answering. "My pick is number one, Black Iron. Just look at it-bright-eyed, full of fire, moving like it already owns the field. My second choice would be number eight.

It showed promise in last year's final ---- race, and it's an underdog here with high odds." Kacey was first to nod. "I'll take your word. I'm putting money on number one." Mr. Cole and Donald filled out their cards as well, choosing either number one or a split between one and eight. When they were done, all eyes turned to Clara and Aaron. "So, what about you two?" Aaron looked at Clara, silently letting her decide. Clara lifted her chin. "I want to bet on number three, Ironheart." Kacey snorted before she could stop herself. "Now I believe Clara really doesn't know horses!

Ironheart just got smacked down. No horse bounces back that fast." Dana chuckled too. "Yeah, Ironheart's chances this time are slim. It burned a lot of energy in the last race. Even at its peak, it might not match Black Iron." Clara turned to Aaron. "It's fine. Let's stick with Ironheart." Aaron nodded indulgently. "Sure. Moonfire's winnings are more than enough for you to play around today." Clara filled out ten bets on Ironheart and passed the card to the waiting attendant. ---- The Coles and Wests could only laugh and shake their heads. Money to burn, indeed.
