---- Chapter 176: Gorgeous as Ever That afternoon, Clara went to the cemetery. The warm sunlight of late day filtered through the layers of leaves above, scattering specks of gold across the quiet ground. This place felt like a forgotten corner of the world, where even time itself had stopped. Nothing here had changed. From somewhere nearby came a few crisp birdcalls, their sound bringing a faint touch of life to the stillness. When Clara looked at her mother's gentle smile on the gravestone, a soft ache rose in her chest. "Mom, I'm doing really well now.

If only you were still here with me." Life always had its share of regrets. When she was little, forgetting to bring her homework had felt like a disaster. In high school, the thought of not getting into college had felt like the end of the world. When she was in love, being separated from the person ---- she cared about had felt unbearable. But looking back now, none of those things really mattered. Except for life and death, everything else was small stuff. The lilies in the vase beside the grave were in full bloom.

Clara crouched before the gravestone, quietly rambling about everything that had happened lately. It wasn't until her legs went numb that she realized more than an hour had passed. Remembering Sebastian's request, she took a picture of the grave for him before turning to leave. At the cemetery gate, a slightly chubby man was pacing back and forth, looking anxious. When Clara passed by, she glanced over out of curiosity-and was surprised to recognize her old college professor. "Professor Jeffrey! What a coincidence! I can't believe I ran into you here!" Professor Jeffrey blinked in surprise.

"Well, if it isn't Clara! It's been years!" Clara smiled. "Yeah, it has. Professor Jeffrey, what brings you here?" ---- Professor Jeffrey sighed helplessly. "Today's the anniversary of my wife's passing. I took a cab here, but the driver didn't wait for me. Now I'm stuck wondering how to get back." Clara said, "It's pretty hard to find a cab out here. Let me drive you back." Professor Jeffrey smiled with relief. "Then I'll gladly accept. Today's the university's anniversary celebration. I need to get back before four." The driver had already opened the door and was waiting by the car.

Once they got in, Professor Jeffrey finally let out a breath. "Good thing I ran into you. Otherwise, I'd never make it in time. You got the invitation too, right? I sent them out through the alumni contact list." Clara felt a little guilty. "I haven't checked that email in ages. Totally forgot about it." Professor Jeffrey chuckled. "Well, you've got a good heart. We received your hundred-thousand-dollar donation last month. The school leadership was really moved. You graduates are all doing so well, and it means a lot that you still think about giving back.

You're setting such a great example for the younger students." ---- Donation? Clara blinked. She had no idea about that. It must have been Aaron who donated in her name. Professor Jeffrey went on, "It's been years since you've been back to campus, hasn't it? You should stop by while you're here." Clara nodded. It really had been a long time. She pulled out her phone and sent Aaron a message: "I just ran into my old professor. Turns out today's my alma mater's anniversary celebration. I'm going to stop by for a bit.

I'll talk to you later." Then she added, "Also, thank you for the donation, Mr. Big Boss. Doing good deeds without taking credit, huh?" Aaron replied almost instantly: "Is there a reward?" Clara grinned at her screen. "There is." Aaron's lips curved into a faint smile as he set his phone aside. He glanced at Tristan, who looked tired and moody. "You're heading to Silverton Medical University later, right?" Tristan nodded. "Yeah. Our company donated a lab to them earlier this year. It's their anniversary today, so I'm supposed to give a speech."
