---- Ina sea of black, white, and gray business attire, Ariella stood out like a neon sign-completely over the top, but undeniably eye-catching. More than a few men had their eyes glued to her. Now, she stood in front of Aaron, poised and smiling. A stunning woman next to a devastatingly handsome man-it was an instant crowd magnet. Especially when that man was Aaron. Every time he showed up somewhere, it was like a magnet for flirty looks and fluttering hearts. Sure enough, curious glances flicked their way from all corners of the room. Aaron checked his watch, his face cool and distant.
He clearly wasn't in the mood for small talk. "You need something?" His slender fingers moved slightly, flashing the wedding ring on his hand. He wasn't even trying to show it off, but Ariella noticed it immediately. She'd already heard about his marriage after that last encounter. But so what? If she couldn't ---- be the one and only, being one of the few wasn't a bad consolation prize. Events like this rarely involved spouses, which was why she'd gone all out tonight-to seize her chance. The man in front of her had completely shed his youthful edges.
Clad in a custom-tailored suit, elegant and composed, with features so perfect they looked sculpted-Aaron was aging like fine wine. Not a trace of wear from the years-just pure, irresistible maturity. What woman wouldn't want a taste? Ariella smiled sweetly. "We're old friends. Let's catch up." Aaron raised an eyebrow. "About what?" Ariella's voice softened. "I'd like to take you to dinner. Apologize properly. I left things a little messy back then-I acted rashly." Aaron had to dig through his memory. Was it ---- seven years ago? Eight? It had been so long. "There's no need.

My wife gets jealous when I'm alone with another woman." Ariella opened her mouth to say more, but Aaron cut her off. "I'm heading out. Goodbye." He turned on his heel and strode straight toward the doors. Ariella stood frozen, watching his retreating back, lips pressed into a thin line. After a moment's hesitation, she followed him out. The wind outside was fierce and cold. Aaron had already reached his car. "Aaron, wait!" Ariella called out, hurrying over. Just as she got close, she stumbled-and fell right into his arms. Aaron instinctively caught her.
Matt, who was holding the door open, rushed forward to steady her. But even so, the contact had lasted a good three or four seconds. Aaron's ---- face immediately darkened. He pulled back and glared icily at her. Ariella looked up, her expression a mix of embarrassment and sincerity. "Aaron, I regret it. Can we... start over?" Matt stood frozen like a statue, hand withdrawn, posture stiff, pretending to be invisible. Inside, he was screaming: Who the hell is this woman? An ex?! This is not your average fling! She's hot too. What do I do? Do get in the car? Do I give them space?
I'm so conflicted! Mrs. Devereaux, where are you?! The big boss is about to get himself into trouble! Aaron's voice was ice-cold. "No. Ariella, don't show up in front of me again. The past is the past." With that, he didn't spare her another glance. He stepped into the car. Matt quickly shut the door and drove off. Ariella hugged her arms around herself, the ---- night wind biting into her skin and her heart. She forced a smile. "You think it's over just because you said so?" Who knew what the future would bring?
