---- Aaron didn't even try to deny it. "Yeah, I'm possessive. So stay away from those male doctors. No accepting flowers from anyone. And definitely no smiling at other men." Clara couldn't help but laugh out loud. She honestly never thought she'd hear Aaron say something like that. "Where'd that arrogant, untouchable, proud-as-a-peacock top lawyer go?" Ignoring her teasing, Aaron leaned in closer. "Did you hear me?" Clara grinned. "Okay, okay! Got it!" But Aaron wasn't buying it. "Really? Are you sure?" Clara looked him in the eye.

"Absolutely, one hundred percent sure." Aaron had no more interest in dancing. All he wanted now... was to chase her lips again. The night stretched on-quiet, sweet, and endlessly tender. Saturday rolled around. Aaron had to work overtime, so he arranged for Andy to accompany Clara and Leo on a visit to the orphanage. The place was tucked away on the northern edge of the ---- city. It took them nearly an hour to drive there.

Just as they pulled up to the entrance, a group of cheerful volunteers came out to greet them, helping Andy unload the toys and school supplies they'd brought for the kids. Clara had dressed appropriately for the occasion-no jewelry, no makeup. Just a pale yellow knit maxi dress, a neat little bun, and comfy flats. She looked fresh and friendly, like the girl next door. Leo had on jeans and a long-sleeve yellow tee. The orphanage grounds were quiet and clean-much nicer than Clara had imagined. Maybe because it was in the suburbs, the place had more space.

There were five three-story buildings scattered thoughtfully across the property. The walls were covered with bright, creative murals by the kids, giving the place a vibe somewhere between a school and a playground. Behind the buildings, there was a large garden packed with vegetables and fruit. Clara, Leo, and Andy toured the kids' dorms, cafeteria, reading room, and sports field with one of the volunteers. It was clear these children were lucky. They were being well taken care of. ---- And those donations? They were definitely being put to good use.

Clara asked Andy to stay with Leo and play with the other kids while she followed the volunteer into the event hall where today's activities would take place. The hall could seat over five hundred people, and it was already prepped. A few older kids were setting bottled water on every chair. The volunteer led Clara to the first row, where she spotted several familiar faces-ladies she had met at the last charity auction. They greeted each other warmly. To her surprise, Clara also saw Linsey Wilson in the crowd. Linsey, on the other hand, was not thrilled.

She never expected to run into Clara here of all places, and immediately cursed her luck. Ever since quitting the Devereaux firm, Linsey hadn't been interested in working. She spent her days wining and dining with friends. Her dad was the one sponsoring today's food, and he'd basically forced her to come and show her face for PR. She tried to ignore Clara, but that woman had this annoying glow about her-like she was born to stand ---- out. It was impossible not to notice her. Despite her plain outfit-nothing fancy, no jewelry-Clara radiated elegance and warmth.

In no time, a crowd had gathered around her. Even Sebastian, who had been adjusting the piano on stage, noticed her. He practically leapt off the platform and rushed over to shake her hand, eyes lighting up with excitement. "Mrs. Devereaux! We finally meet again!"
