---- fists clenched. He couldn't believe this was it. He'd always thought winning Clara was just a matter of time. But now? That chance was gone. Aaron, sensing the stare, glanced back and locked eyes with him. Oh. The guy who used to send flowers. Without a word, Aaron wrapped an arm around Clara's waist and stepped into the elevator. He made a mental note: he really should pick her up more often. Outside, Clara looked around. "Where's your car?" Aaron said, "We're walking. Didn't you say the riverside looks amazing at sunset?" Clara lit up and intertwined their fingers.
"This feels like an actual date!" The riverside at dusk really was magical-lush trees, blooming flowers, a breeze that carried away the stress, and the golden glow of the setting sun shimmering on the water. White egrets fluttered into the sky as cruise boats ---- passed. Clara couldn't stop smiling the whole way. Aaron looked over. "You're really that happy?" Clara nodded hard. "Happiness rating: five stars!" Though they shared a bed like any married couple, this was the first time they'd walked hand in hand like lovers. Aaron felt a twinge of guilt.
She was only twenty-five, still young and full of romantic dreams. Meanwhile, he'd been nothing but boring and stiff. No wonder she'd resisted at first. He needed to slow down next year-make more time for her. He pointed to a building across the river. "That's my hotel-Serenique. Want to grab dinner before heading home?" Clara hesitated. "What about Leo?" "He'll be fine. Aunt Paige is with him. Let's take ---- the ferry across." "Really? I've never been on one!" Clara's face lit up. They bought two tickets-for two bucks each.

Once on the ferry, Clara stood on the deck, wind whipping her hair as she snapped pics of the sunset, the seagulls, and took endless selfies with Aaron. Aaron had lived in Greystone for years but had never ridden the ferry. Turns out, four dollars could buy a lot of happiness-especially when you were with the person you loved. Watching her so full of joy, he smiled. "Send me those pics later." Clara picked two, sent them over, then held out her hand. "Gimme your phone." Aaron handed it over, unlocked. Clara changed his wallpaper to one of their selfies and gave it back with a grin.
"Territory ---- marked." Aaron glanced at the screen and chuckled. "Is this how kids date these days?" Clara smirked. "Yup. You happy?" He pinched her nose. "Five-star happy." Clara shared their pic in the group chat with Sierra and Scarlett. Ding! Elsie's Sierra: "Ugh! More PDA!" Ding! Scarlett.C: "Keep this up and I'm leaving the group." Then Elsie's Sierra changed the group name to Fake Friends Club. Clara laughed even harder. Over at Serenique, the GM had been notified the big boss was stopping by. He stood by the entrance with his assistant, ready to roll out the red carpet.
As soon as Aaron arrived, the GM rushed forward with a respectful greeting. ---- It was 6 PM-dinner rush. The place was packed. The lobby was buzzing, every table full, and a crowd was waiting for a seat. Business was booming. Clara teased, "Congrats, Mr. CEO. You're making bank!" Aaron smirked. "Right back at you, Mrs. Devereaux."
