---- Chapter 68: Did I Destroy the World in My Last Life or What?! Clara felt like she was being grilled by detectives under a spotlight. Trying to deflect, she quickly raised her glass. "Okay, okay! Let's just drink already! Our mouths are bone-dry from all this interrogation!" But Scarlett wasn't buying the diversion. "Be serious-how do you even hold yourself back? We're talking about Aaron!" Sierra jumped in eagerly, "Right? I've heard there's a whole line of socialites waiting to pounce on him." Scarlett nodded. "Please! Even a few rookie starlets in my circle have a thing for him.
Last time he came to the station for an interview, one of the girls literally staged a 'coincidental' hallway run-in!" ---- Sierra leaned forward like she was about to get the juicy part. "With that face, that body, that cool, bossy aura-he's hotter than half the male celebs out there! Don't tell me you're not at least a little tempted." Clara could practically feel their gazes burning holes in her. She caved. "Tempted, okay? Super tempted! Satisfied now?!" Scarlett raised a brow.
"Then how the hell are you surviving all that nightly cuddling, all that skin contact-and you're still not combusting? You're not aching? Your knees aren't buckling?" Sierra narrowed her eyes. "Something's fishy. Could it be... Aaron's just not good in bed?" Scarlett actually paused to think, then nodded like she was solving a mystery. "Honestly, maybe. I've known him forever and never seen him with a woman. He could be totally out of practice!" Sierra looked scandalized. "Really? I don't know... The way he was looking at Clara during dinner the other night?

His eyes were full-on ---- smolder. He looked like he knew what he was doing." Scarlett shrugged. "That doesn't mean anything. Looking is easy-doing is another thing entirely. Technique takes practice, people!" And just like that, the two of them spiraled into a heated debate about Aaron's potential bedroom skills... as if the woman in question wasn't sitting right there. Clara groaned and faceplanted into the couch, pounding her head into a pillow. Dear God, did I destroy the Earth in a past life? Is that why these two were sent to punish me in this one?! Ding-dong!
Her phone buzzed like a miracle. She snatched it up like a drowning woman grabbing a life ring. It was a text from Aaron. Aaron: "You done yet? What time are you heading home? I'll send someone to pick you up. ---- Clara glanced at the clock. Eleven?! Finally! She'd been waiting for a reason to bail. She stood up and reached for her coat. "It's getting late, you guys keep chatting-I'm. heading out." Scarlett's eyes widened like floodlights. "Don't even think about it! You walk out that door, I swear I'll break your legs.
You're sleeping here tonight!" Sierra immediately backed her up, "Scarlett's in charge tonight!" Scarlett yanked Clara's coat right out of her hands and flung it aside. "What's the rush? You're just going home to sleep. Unless you're sleeping with Aaron, you're staying here!" That word-"sleeping"-came out with so much dramatic flair and suggestive tone it could've had neon lights. Clara's cheeks went up in flames. There was no way to answer that without dying of embarrassment, so she quietly sat back down. ---- She texted Aaron: "Big star Scarlett won't let me leave.
I'm sleeping here tonight. You get some rest." Scarlett leaned in with a grave look. "Don't say I didn't warn you. Keep playing hard to get, and pretty soon you'll be playing alone." Sierra nodded sagely. "It's almost New Year's. There are banquets, parties, mixers... a couple drinks, a few 'accidental' touches... What guy can resist all that temptation?" Scarlett clicked her tongue. "Exactly! Girls these days go hard. Married or not-if they want something, they go after it. You think those crazy love triangle dramas are made up? Art comes from life, honey!" Sierra chimed in, dead serious.
"I believe it. How else do you explain the endless parade of side chicks and surprise babies?" Scarlett added, "And nowadays, even kids born outside of marriage have the same rights. With or without a marriage certificate-it doesn't make a huge difference anymore."
