---- Michael laughed louder. Few people ever got Aaron to call them "big brother," and even then it was mostly respect for age. Tristan handed them both bottled water. The assistants and caddies stayed quietly at a distance. Michael finally spoke. "Even if you hadn't invited me, I was going to call in the next few days. The resort project's reapproval got stuck with a division chief. I've followed up several times, but they say they're still reviewing the documents." In theory, the project should have moved faster.
With a new construction company now on board, approvals should have been quick. Aaron frowned. He had planned to return to Greystone soon. This delay left him uneasy. Michael continued softly, "It's part of the normal process. Some companies get stalled for months. I can't push too hard, or it draws attention." ---- Tristan's frustration showed. "I know it's tricky, but there are so many workers waiting. Plus, the resort opens at the end of the year. Marketing plans are already set. Every day of delay has a big impact." Michael nodded.

"I understand." Aaron casually asked, "What kind of person is this division chief?" "Just a low-level officer. Usually quiet, keeps to themselves. No idea why they're being difficult now. No connections with outside powers either," Michael explained. Aaron nodded. "Got it. Thanks for handling it." Michael grinned. "Don't worry. I've got it covered." Aaron shifted topics. "By the way, that vacant commercial plot downtown. What would you do with it?" Michael's eyebrows rose. "That's yours?" Even the City Development Director was surprised. ---- Land downtown was rare and valuable.
Finding a large commercial space like that in Silverton was nearly impossible. Aaron nodded. "I just took it over. Any ideas?" Michael chuckled. "Anything you put there will make money. A mixed-use complex with shops, restaurants, and entertainment would be perfect. Locals spend well. Of course, your analysts probably have more insight than me." Aaron smirked. "Mr. Morgan's opinion counts too." There was still plenty of approval paperwork ahead. Michael laughed. "Don't forget about me if there's money to be made." Aaron raised an eyebrow.
"You really care about that?" Michael shrugged with a grin. "Who wouldn't?" His position made him cautious, so he usually avoided unnecessary trouble. Aaron let it go, took a sip of water, and glanced ---- at Tristan. Tristan caught his meaning and said, "Mr. Morgan, want to play a round with me?" "Sure!" Michael agreed. "But don't go easy on me like Aaron." Tristan laughed. "My skills are nowhere near yours. I'll probably get crushed." The two of them headed off, joking and ready to play. Aaron settled under a sun umbrella, scanning the course thoughtfully.
Could the division chief be someone Maverick placed here? He had always wanted Aaron to stay in Silverton and take over the family business, and had pulled a few sneaky moves in the past. But a little construction delay? What difference would that make? Just then, Aaron's video call pinged. It was Clara. He tapped to answer, and Leo's big face filled the screen. "Dad, where are you playing? The ---- grass is so pretty!" Aaron smiled, his voice softer than usual. "I'm playing golf. Where did you go today?" Leo's excitement bubbled over. "Elsie and I went hiking super early. We just got back.
The mountains were beautiful, full of flowers, and we even caught a bunch of ants. Mom made us let them go afterward." Aaron laughed gently. "Sounds like you had a great time." Leo blinked his big, bright eyes. "Dad, when are you coming home? I miss you!" Aaron's thumb brushed lightly over his son's soft cheek on the screen. "I miss you too."
