---- Chapter 182: He's The Godfather It wasn't the first time Scarlett had stayed over at Derek's place. After dating for years, they both knew each other's homes like the back of their hands. But once she actually moved in, she realized how inconvenient life was without a maid or anyone to help around the house. Meals weren't a problem since Derek could cook, but everything else quickly became a pain. Now that Scarlett was past her first trimester, her appetite had kicked into full gear. She often craved random foods, and when she wanted something, she needed it right away.

If she didn't get it, it drove her crazy. Mr. Mitchell, who once prided himself on not lifting a finger in the kitchen, had somehow become a half-decent cook. He could handle almost any dish now. But a pregnant woman's cravings were a whole different challenge. ---- Like tonight. She suddenly wanted kebab. "Do you know what time it is?" Derek mumbled groggily after she kicked him awake. He squinted at the clock. "It's one in the morning, sweetheart." "I don't care! I can't sleep unless I get some!" Scarlett was practically drooling, her craving growing stronger by the second.

Derek pulled the blanket tighter around himself, refusing to get up. "Come on, babe, kebab isn't even good for you. How about I make you some soup instead? If you still want it tomorrow, I'll get some after work." Scarlett crossed her arms. "No way! The baby wants it now!" Give me a break," Derek groaned. "I have court in the morning. Just go to sleep, okay? Once you're asleep, you won't be hungry anymore." His eyes were already closing. Three seconds later, a pillow smacked him right in the face. "Whose baby am I carrying, huh?" Scarlett's voice shook.

"I told you I could raise the baby by myself, but you insisted on marrying me. You said you'd take care of me! Now I just want a kebab and you're ---- complaining? What's the point of being married then? I shouldn't have expected anything from you! You don't even love me!" That woke Derek up instantly. "Hey, hey, don't cry, okay? My love, it's just kebab, right? I'll order delivery right now. It'll get here in an hour at most!" "An hour? Are you kidding me? I'll be starving by then!" Scarlett's eyes filled with tears, looking completely heartbroken.

"Alright, alright!" Derek groaned, sitting up. "Fine, I'll go get it myself." He threw on some clothes, grabbed his keys, and trudged down to the freezing parking lot, still half-asleep and cursing his life. He drove to a nearby food shop, only to find out they were sold out of kebab. He searched again, followed the GPS to a late-night food market, and walked up and down the street until he finally found a stall that had some left. It took nearly an hour. When he got home, the apartment was completely silent. He called her right away. "Scarlett, where are you?

I got the kebab!" ---- "I'm at the 7-Eleven downstairs," she said. "I got too hungry, so I'm eating fried chicken." Derek almost dropped his phone. He rushed downstairs. From a distance, he spotted Scarlett sitting under a big tree near the convenience store, eating fried chicken with Cyrus. They were chatting and laughing like they didn't have a care in the world. Derek shoved his hands into his pockets, trying to look calm even though his blood was boiling. "Cyrus, what are you doing here this late?" Cyrus looked up, gave him a brief glance, and said nothing.

Scarlett was still chewing when she mumbled, "Cyrus lives nearby. We just ran into each other. Want some chicken?" She held up a piece for him, but Derek turned his head away, his voice icy. "I'm not hungry." Cyrus raised an eyebrow. "What, are you jealous? I'm just having a late-night snack with my godson." Derek's voice rose. "Since when is my son your godson? When did that happen? Why didn't I know?"
