---- Cyrus smirked slightly. "Back when you didn't even know he existed." Derek clenched his jaw so hard he couldn't speak. Scarlett shrugged like it was nothing. "What's the big deal? Cyrus and I are good friends. Of course he's the godfather. Isn't that perfectly reasonable? You disagree?" Of course he disagreed. But he forced a smile. "Agree. Totally agree. Let's go home before the paparazzi show up. He pulled her into his coat and turned away, not wanting to stay another second.
Cyrus watched Scarlett peek her head out from Derek's coat and wave at him, and suddenly the whole thing just felt empty. He pulled up his mask and walked off. Back home, Derek set the kebab on the table. Scarlett sniffed. "Hmm, I don't want it anymore." Derek nearly exploded. He'd spent over an hour in the cold hunting for that stupid kebab, and now she didn't even want it. He stomped off to the bathroom, washed up, and threw himself into bed, refusing to say a word. What kind of life was this? He was fuming. ---- After a while, Scarlett climbed into bed and curled up against his back.
"Honey, are you mad?" He ignored her, pretending to sleep. "Honey," she whispered, "you know who you look like?" Silence. "You look like my son's dad," she said sweetly. More silence. Then she added, "Hey, honey, a farmer caught a pig, but the pig ran away. Guess where it went?" Derek didn't respond. "Haha, you'll never guess. It ran away to listen to a bedtime story!" Scarlett laughed hysterically at her own joke. Then she went on, "A pig and a tiger spent the night in a cave. The next morning, the tiger was dead.

Do you know why?" Derek muttered, "Because the tiger was still a cub?" Scarlett laughed even harder. "I don't know either! Only the pig knows! Hahaha!" Derek rolled over, pinched her cheeks, and growled, "You're really using me for your midnight comedy show now, huh?" ---- Scarlett raised three fingers. "I swear it wasn't me telling the jokes. It was our baby! Or maybe our daughter!" Derek leaned closer, his voice low and teasing. "You know, they say you can still have sex at three months pregnant. Want me to test that theory?" Then he kissed her hard.
The next morning, Derek stormed into the law firm and went straight into Aaron's office, wailing like a man who had survived a war. He complained for ten straight minutes, and Aaron didn't even look up once. "Come on, Aaron, can you at least pretend to feel sorry for me?" Derek begged. Aaron flipped through his papers calmly. "Sorry? For what? You're whining about something this childish?" "You..." Derek was completely speechless. Aaron cut him off. "Out the door, take a left, and go to your office. Get to work." Derek groaned.
"Fine, but when Clara gets pregnant and drives you insane, don't expect me to feel sorry for you either!" Aaron didn't see why he'd need sympathy. If Clara got ---- pregnant, that would be something worth celebrating. The thought made the corner of his mouth lift slightly. If Clara really got pregnant... maybe they'd have a daughter. The idea warmed his chest. As Derek reached the door, he remembered something. "Oh right, Scarlett said we're going to that light show tomorrow night. Remind Clara not to forget."
