Chapter 536 Amelia's POV +25 Bonus Maybe I should have left well enough alone, but with Sienna in prison, I couldn't help but want to visit her. While I had believed myself to be Annette, Sienna had been my sister, and though she had betrayed that frust many times, I still felt connected to her in a way that I didn't feel with any of the other prisoners. Richard, Ruth, and Claire had already been judged. They were to be imprisoned for the rest of their lives.

The other rogues had varying sentences, some allowed to return to their home in the rogue territory, others needing to serve a sentence of time before they would be released. Sienna's fate, Damien was entrusting to me. In part, this was a sign of his trust in me as his partner, and in other part, this was a gift. Sienna might not have ever been related to me by blood, but she still felt like a sister to me. When I walked into the prison, I stood outside of her cell looking in. She glanced at me, then away. She was sitting on her bed, staring at a space in the wall.

I'd seen her looking downtrodden before, but I had never seen her be as defeated as she seemed right in this moment. I only had one thing that I really wanted to know. "Why did you this, Sienna? All of this?" Sienna must have given up, because she answered plainly and without any fuss. "I was jealous of you," she said. "I never fit in at home. We all knew it, even if we played pretend. I was an outcast. I was difficult for them to love. Then you showed up, and they loved you so easily.

How could I not hate you, when you had everything that I wanted for myself?" "I didn't mean for that to happen," I said. "It doesn't matter what you meant. It still happened," Sienna said. "What are you even doing here now, Amelia? You have everything you could possibly want? Go. Be with your perfect husband in your perfect palace and leave me alone to my misery." Even though she had been surrounded by family, she had been lonely when I came to live with Jake and our parents. Couldn't she see I had been lonely too? I would have loved to have a sister.

I wished she could have seen me as a potential ally herself, instead of immediately perceiving me to be her enemy. We could have been friends. We could have been family. Amelia had felt abandoned, and she wasn't entirely at fault for that. When I arrived, I had taken the spotlight from her, so easily fitting into the life she had wanted for herself. From her perspective, I had stolen everything from her. That led her to extremes. She never should have taken things as far as she did, and she needed to be punished for that. But I wasn't without sympathy.

1/4 Chapter 536 +25 Bonus "I have a gift for you," I said. "There's nothing you could have that I'd want anymore," she said bitterly. "Just get out of here." Her voice broke as she said, "Please." I motioned down the hallway for the guards with me to bring the second prisoner, the one I had requested to visit here with me today. As Ian came closer, Sienna was still stubbornly looking away. "Don't be difficult, Sienna," Ian said. At once, Sienna's eyes snapped to the man beside me. He was a prisoner too, clad in shackles at his wrists and heavily guarded.

But he was still here, and they could still see and speak to each other. She jumped off the bed and rushed to the bars that separated them. "Ian." "You both have my permission to visit each other once a week," Amelia said. "If you both so wish it." "I do," Ian said. I was surprised but pleased to see the affection in his eyes as he gazed at Sienna. For too long he had been obsessed with me. It was a relief that he had learned to find love for real. Sienna looked back just as longingly. As she blinked, tears filled her eyes. "Me, too." "Good," I said.

"Then I will leave you to your first weekly visit." Sienna cried in earnest then, leaning her head against the bars. "Don't cry, Sienna. This is a good thing," Ian said. "I don't deserve it. Amelia, I have no idea what I did to have earned this." She didn't really do anything. I shrugged. "You are my sister," I said. "I love you." Blinking back the tears she looked up at me. She was a mess, her face red and splotchy. But it might have been the first earnest look I had ever seen on her face. "Thank you," she said to me. "I... Thank you... "Do your time, both of you," I told them.

"Don't cause any trouble. And maybe, in time, we can revisit your punishments again." Ian stepped closer and he and Sienna held hands through the bars. I saw this as my time to leave, and stepped away. Damien was waiting for me outside. When I approached him, he held his arms open for me and then held me as I slipped into his grasp. I wiped my own tears away with the back of my hands. "You are soft, aren't you?" he asked, but there was no heat in it. Instead, he sounded proud. "I love you." He kissed the top of my head, and I felt like home again.

Claire's POV 2/4 Chapter 834 世 +25 Bonus Life was a cruel vicious thing. While Damien and Amelia were lined up to get crowns, Ruth and I were stuck at a maximum security prison doing menial labor. Did all this laundry really need done by hand? My skin was dry and flaking. I hated everyone and everything that led me to this place. Mostly, I hated Ruth. It had been her influence that led us to the rogues. If we hadn't met Richard, we would have been free. Gods, I could just kill her!

Richard, at least, was stuck in the men's version of our prison, likely doing labor tasks even more difficult than this. None of us had any hope's prayer of getting out of these places alive. "Don't look at me like that," Ruth snapped. "You made your bed a long time ago. I couldn't forgive her. As the days dragged on, killing her became my new purpose. Yet, on my first attempt, as I lunged straight for her neck, the guards intervened and dragged me away. I was headed to solitary confinement again. I had spent a lot of time there these days.

"To think you were once a noble woman," said the warden with a cluck of her tongue. "Your parents would be ashamed of you, Claire. May they rest in peace." "What do you know? What do any of you know?" I snapped. "I almost had it all! Everything! It's all Amelia's fault! I should have been Luna! Me!" "Take her away," the warden said. Gods, the utter humiliation of this moment. To have gone from the noble high-class lady I had once been to being demeaned and belittled by those so far beneath me I shouldn't have been able to see them at all. "My revenge..." I muttered, feeling the loss.

No one was listening to me anymore. No one was taking me seriously. As they locked me in my solitary cell, no one was left to hear me. Comments Support Share 3/4 Joseph King
