Chapter 490 Amelia's POV "I don't know why you are avoiding me," I said to the trainer of the group, who hadn't told me no outright, only that he needed to make a phone call first. Well, the phone call was done, but he was still being cagey. "You've sparred with many others before now, but refuse to with me. Don't I deserve to be properly trained like the rest?" "I'm sorry, Luna, but class is about to start. Please stand to the side, so I can instruct the class. There will be time for more sparring later." I supposed that was an adequate enough excuse...
for now, though I still felt like he was trying to dodge me. Maybe he was worried he would receive some kind of reprimand for sparring with the Luna. Once the training was done, I would speak with him again to make things clearer. Right now, to not hold up the class, I stepped to the side and awaited my turn to spar. The minute I saw Damien entering the park, I knew I had made a mistake in waiting. That phone call the trainer had made was likely to Damien himself. Now, I had the protective wrath of my mate to face. He spotted me at once and walked toward me with purpose in his stride.
His eyes were fiery. Yeah, there was no doubt that he had heard what I was planning and he was pissed about it. "I heard you wanted to someone to spar with," he said, no hint of humor in his voice. "I need to be properly trained," I said. "Just because I'm Luna doesn't mean I should be forced to sit out the fight. In fact, it means that I should be out there fighting with the rest of my pack." Damien narrowed his eyes. "You want to prove myself." "I will if I have to," I said. He hummed. "Well, if you want someone to spar with so badly, you can spar with me.
In my head, my wolf whispered, "A fight against the Alpha is not a fight you can win." I knew she was right. I'd already seen many examples of Damien's vast strength, and knew that even with my new strength, I couldn't hope to match him. It'd be like trying to chop down a tree with a foam bat. But, I was still so furious with Damien and the secrets he had kept from me, the lies he had told. This could be my chance to take my actual frustrations out on the man himself. I was looking forward to it, and couldn't deny myself the opportunity. "Fine," I said.

Our conversation immediately disrupted the class. The trainer tried valiantly to keep things together, but a spar between the Alpha and Luna was the kind of thing that gathered attention, especially as we moved to the previously arranged sparring right. Damien and I cast appraising looks to one another as we stepped inside. Damien removed his suit coat and his dress shirt, setting both aside. He wasn't entirely shirtless this time, having on a tank top underneath. I had come dressed for a fight, in track pants and a form fitting top.
1/3 Chapter 490 +25 Bonus We each stretched some, then squared up against each other in the ring. "You ready?" he asked. "I'll let you make the first move." Overconfident, sexy bastard. That tank top was tight on him, showing every ridge of his hard muscles. Looking at him, I wasn't sure where I would even try to hit. Every inch seemed hard as steel. But, I came here to learn, and even with Damien as my opponent, that meant trying. I took position as I had seen the trainer do on the videos. Then, holding my fists up in front of me, I carefully stepped in closer to Damien.
He watched me closely, not moving an inch. Maybe I could fake him out with a juke. I tried, veering left before hitting right. He caught my fist mid-arm with his palm and closed his fingers around it. "You juked but telegraphed it," he said. "Don't look the real direction you intend to hit before faking to the other." I growled, simultaneously annoyed by the critique while also taking it to heart. Feedback was what I was here for, even if it was annoying to have it from him. Especially when we had gathered an audience, including, to my horror, the back wives.
I stepped back, pulling my hand from his grasp. "Try again," he said. "Fine." I took a breath then lifted my fists again. This time, stepping closer, I looked in the direction I intended to feign, before sneaking left and trying for a hit to the abdomen. As before, he caught my wrist, mid-air. "I didn't look that time," I said. "No, but you are too slow," Damien said. "I could have blocked that with my eyes closed." A few chuckles sounded around us, and I huffed a harsher breath as I backed away. "Once more," he said. "Maybe you should try me," I suggested. "You sure you want that?" he asked.
"I need to learn," I said. "I'll go slow." I bit back a retort. I didn't need him to patronize me, except yeah, I kind of did. My wolf had been right. I wasn't any match for an Alpha. I wouldn't be, even if I trained every day. He was just so much bigger and faster than me. But that didn't mean I wasn't going to try. Damien was standing perfectly still as I dropped down into my stance. 2/3 Then, I blinked, and he closed the distance, suddenly directly in front of me. I didn't have any time to react before his arms when around me and he tackled me to the ground.
He was careful with me though, making sure to protect my head in the tumble, so that I didn't get injured as I hit. When we were on the ground, he crawled on top of me and pinned me. He was clearly the winner here, and the position, so similar to other acts we had committed in the past, made my face burn hot. "You can get up now," I told him. I struggled a little, but it was more for the show of it. I knew I couldn't escape him until he moved. "You have to surrender first," he said, his voice low and seductive. His eyes were dark as he kneeled over me, hist hands rough on my wrists.
My throat went dry as my panties got damp. This had no right being as hot as it was. Damien stayed where he was, letting the moment draw out, even as I stared back at him defiantly. Then, with a sigh, he backed off. I bit my lip to hide my disappointment. "You aren't ready to fight against the rogues," he said as he stood and backed away from me. I was so tired of everyone telling me what I could and couldn't do. I'd been passive in this war for far too long and I was sick of it. Pushing myself up to my feet, I closed the distance to Damien and once more squared up my fists.
"If I'm not ready, then train me," I said. "Or I will go and find someone else who will." COIN BUNDLE: get more free bonus Comments Support Share GET IT 3/3 Joseph King
