Chapter 535 +25 Bonus Chapter 535 Damien's POV My pack warriors readied themselves, but, despite Richard's calls for his rogues to rally, many, seeing the chaos that had already befallen the battlefield, and their leader battered and broken, decided to turn and run. My side held our ground, watching warily as the rogues defied their leader and made their escape back to their territory. Trying to keep my promise to Victoria, I kept my eye on Ethan, watching as he disappeared into the trees, quitting the battlefield. "You cowards!" Richard cried, as some of his own helped him try to stand.
He fell back down to the dirt. "Get back here!" "Get them!" Benedict called. "Capture those that do not flee!" My warriors pushed forward, easily overpowering the few that were left. Soon, even Richard himself was taken prisoner. As were Claire, Sienna, Ian, and the woman who had stabbed Jake, Ruth. The prisoners were arranged in a long line and brought forward. Benedict and I took point, inspecting the prisoners as they went by. Those that were injured were to be taken to healers, but the rest of them were to be taken straight to the nearest prison to await judgement.
Things were progressing normally - until the end of the line, when Ruth approached. She should have been checked for weaponry, but I wasn't sure if she had been. One minute she was walking along, and in the next, she had a knife, whispered a curse that made it glow, and stabbed Benedict straight in the chest. Benedict dropped, suddenly rendered lifeless. "Stop her!" I called too late. She was tackled, but the damage had been done. Amelia and Lillian rushed to Benedict. They turned him onto his back to inspect the wounds. "Gods," Lillian said.
"It's just like Jake." Jake had been a strong Alpha at his peak when he had suffered this wound. Benedict was an older man, already worn down by time. Jake was still suffering. Would Benedict even recover? I rushed my warriors, encouraging them to move faster in removing the prisoners from the field. When they had done so, I returned to Amelia and Lillian, where they kneeled beside Benedict. Martin and several other warriors were nearby, offering some protection in case any warriors decided to double back. Amelia looked up at me, worry in her eyes.
"Damien, he's dying." I came to her side, hoping to offer her as much comfort as I could with my presence. "Can you do anything?" I asked. 1/5 Chapter 535 +25 Bonus They had been able to help Jake, even if he was still going through it. If anyone could save Benedict, it was Lillian and Amelia. Amelia looked at her mother. "You could try, as before," Lillian said. "We could do it together." Worry creased Amelia's face. "I don't if it will be enough." If she though so, then I would help her. "Whatever you need," I said. "I am with you." That seemed to help her resolve.

"Okay." "Tell me what I need to do," I said. She directed me to kneel beside her. She took my hand and, weaving our fingers, placed my palm with hers on top over Benedict's chest, near the sunken blade of the knife. "We need to channel our power into him, to give his wolf our strength. It's only his wolf that will be able to fight the curse," Amelia said. "We have to be quick," Lillian said. "Benedict doesn't have Jake's stamina. His life is already fleeting." "Concentrate on me," Amelia told me. "I'll take care of the rest." Closing my eyes, I wasn't sure what to do.
I was no healer, and though Amelia had done this before, I sure hadn't. But, as Amelia had told me, I focused on her. Slowly, gently, I began to feel a tug on my wolf strength. She was slightly draining me. I could have fought it, but I didn't. This was part of the process, I knew. She was taking my strength with her own and giving it to Benedict. Together, hopefully and with luck, we would be enough to save him. Amelia's POV Pulling from Damien's strength, I pushed all the power I could into Benedict's body to try to aid his wolf in repelling the curse.
This had worked much quicker with Jake, but was slower with Benedict. His wolf felt so far away, so small. Without Damien's help, I would be without hope, but Damien's wolf was strong. As such, he was practically a bottomless well of power. Pulling from him, I pushed everything into Benedict. A moment paused, where nothing happened. Then two. Then, finally, Benedict's wolf stirred and pushed against the knife. My mother must have felt it too. At that moment, while I continued to pour strength into Benedict, Mom grabbed the knife and pulled, removing it from Benedict's chest.
2/5 Chapter 535 +25 Bonus At once, his eyes popped open, and he breathed in a sharp breath. I fell backwards, cutting off the influx of power. Damien quickly caught me and held me steady. A few of the other warriors helped Benedict sit upright. He touched his chest with surprise, as if he couldn't fathom how it was already healing. "My wolf..." he said. "Gods, I haven't felt this strong in years." "It's temporary," I said. "You will need lots of rest to recover." Benedict looked at me and nodded. "Yes. I understand. Though..." He looked around, then laughed lightly. He sounded tired already.
"I think I will finally have time to rest now. For real." To the warriors at his back, he said, "Help me stand." When they did, he looked around, to all of the pack members who remained on the battlefield. He nodded, pleased, then turned his gaze to Damien and me. Damien helped me stand. "Gods, I'd be dead ten times over if it wasn't for the two of you. Truly your strength is unreal. And together, the two of you are unstoppable," he said. "Yes, I'm sure of it now. I made the correct choice." He sighed.
"My age has been catching up to me, and it has never been more obvious than when Richard called me out. I made you my successor, Damien, but I would be quick to make you King. I am ready to retire." I gasped a little, looked at Damien. He grabbed onto my hand and held it tightly. "Yes," Benedict continued. "You will be a strong Alpha King, and your mate, my dear niece, will make an excellent Luna Queen." With that, we all left the battlefield, returning to our capital. The warriors dispersed, some heading home to celebrate privately, while others celebrated right there in the street.
Damien and I held hands as we stood outside the Alpha headquarters building, accepting congratulations and praise. Damien still needed to see a healer, and we both needed to shower and change, covered now in dried blood. Yet, to me, Damien had never been more handsome. The war was over, and only our happy future remained. Damien pulled me into his arms and kissed me. My heart soared, knowing everyday would be like this from now on. Yes, we would still face trials and tribulations, but we would do so together, as a team. Gods, I couldn't be happier. "Amelia," he said against my lips.
"Will you marry me again?" What could I say but, "Yes." 3/5 Chapter 36 Joseph King
