Chapter 386 +25 Bonus Chapter 386 Damien's POV At the office, I was annoyed to find half of the pack council standing in my office on the other side of my desk. They had a petition in their hands, signed by all of the council, save one Claire, who couldn't sign anything while she was in a jail cell in Jake's pack. The petition, as I gazed at it, made my blood boil. The audacity of them to present this to me, knowing that it was my family that Claire had threatened.
The only further insult would be if they were trying to get her entirely off the hook, though this petition was almost nearly as bad. They wanted Claire to be moved to this pack, for her trial to take place here. "I can see that this frustrates you," said the head of the council, "and I can tell why. The reasons are obvious. But, as much as you personally dislike Claire, we need you, as Alpha, to put your personal feelings aside. Claire is still a member of this pack and this council. And we don't believe she will receive a fair trial in a strange pack." "Jake's pack is not strange," I said.
"The relations between our packs are strong, as evidenced by the banquet the other night. The very banquet that Claire tried to ruin." "Allegedly," said Councilman Stark. "Claire escaped into Jake's pack lands. It was within his rights to make the arrest, just as it is within his rights to bestow judgement." I would fight them hard on this, and not just because I believed in Jake's right to dole out punishment. In truth, I was more worried that if Claire was brought to this pack that I wouldn't be able to actually give her the punishment she deserved.
To save Stacy, I had made vows to the Moon Goddess that I otherwise wouldn't have, choosing to protect Claire in exchange for my daughter's life. I didn't know how far those vows would push me, but I would be physically incapable of breaking them. No, to ensure Claire faced justice, she had to stay in Jake's pack and receive Jake's judgement. I couldn't be any more involved than I already was. This was a secret I would take with me to the grave, however.
Not something I was inclined to share with anyone, especially this group who had already proven themselves untrustworthy by lifting Claire to a pack council position behind my back. "She is a council member, Alpha," the head of the council said. "She has special rights, and we need to make sure those rights are protected." They only wanted to protect Claire to protect themselves. It set a dangerous precedent for them, if they could be judged in other packs by other pack Alphas. In the past, out of courtesy, all council members had been returned to their home packs to be judged.

Those trials usually were a joke, with the offenders receiving nothing more than a slap on the wrist. 1/3 Chapter 386 +25 Bonus Claire was not going to find any such mercy or sympathy from me. Not if I could help it. Which because of the Vow to the Moon Goddess, I wasn't too sure I could. "She will stay where she is, and that's final," I said, using my authority as Alpha. They could petition all they wanted, all day and night until they were red in the face, but the facts remained facts. Claire would never be brought here for trial.
She would face Jake's judgement and finally find the justice that was so sorely overdue. Amelia's POV With Claire in jail, Damien allowed me even more leeway in leaving the house, and with this new freedom, I dove headfirst into my Luna duties. Already, I was planning for the next event. I wasn't alone in the duties this time. Instead, a few other high-ranking ladies joined me in helping to arrange the next event. Most of the ladies here had despised me when I first arrived. A couple I even knew for facts whispered cruel things behind my back. To them, that had been six years ago.
Only to me did it feel so recent. Yet, they were being kind now, complimenting my banquet. Perhaps I had finally won them over. The sake of the pack and my new role as Luna, I was willing to let bygones be bygones. I wouldn't forget. I would always be watchful. But I could be kind and patient with them. We might even become something like friends. "I just can't get over how different you are to how you used to be in the past," said one of the ladies. I suspected she didn't mean it unkindly, this time, but I remembered the mean things she had said about me in the past. Weak, inferior human.
"You were so... demure. I'm glad to see you come out of your shell." "Yes, well, I need to provide a good example for my girls," I said, smiling as much as I could. No one seemed to notice the strain. "Six years can sure make a difference for a person," said one of the other women. "It's a shame you had to hide away all that time. I would have loved to see that transformation for myself." "Surely you saw me in some places," I said. "No," replied the woman, with the others agreeing. "No one saw you for so long. In fact, we'd heard that you died.
When you showed up here recently again, we were all so surprised. Pleasantly surprised, mine. But it was a shock." "A delightful shock," said another woman. In the past, she had said, What does Damien even see in a human like this? How... strange... They could have been being pedantic, exaggerating for effect and gossip, but... they thought I was dead? That 2/3 Chapter 386 +25 Bonus seemed too pointed, too specific, to be just an exaggeration. But... what could have possibly happened that would make me hide away so fiercely for so many years that everyone in the pack thought I had died?
Did it have something to do with the children? Yes, that must have been it. After the birth, I probably would have resigned myself from the public life if it meant taking care of the children and protecting them. I would have done anything for my children. And as I had been bullied by the pack for years, it wouldn't be so surprising that I would want to protect my children from the same situation. Although... when it became clear that I was a werewolf, why wouldn't I have revealed myself then? Surely that would have been enough to win over the pack at least in part.
And if I wanted to be a good example for the girls now, surely I would have wanted the same in the past. I just... didn't know, and when I tried to think about it too much, it made my head hurt. To clear my thoughts, I stood and walked to the window. It was open, letting some fresh air in. I breathed in deeply, enjoying the afternoon breeze. Oddly, there was a man standing across the road. I thought maybe he was waiting for someone, but then, suddenly, he looked up and stared straight at me through the window. I had a feeling that I knew him, but I couldn't place him.
And he seemed furious, glaring at me even from this distance. BIG SALE: 3500 bonus free fou you Comments G Support Share get it X 3/3 Joseph King
