Chapter 391 +25 Bonus Chapter 391 Amelia's POV Annette? "I'm sorry," I said. Instinctively, I took a step backwards. "You must have me mistaken for someone else. I'm Luna Amelia." "There's no mistake," the man said. His eyes were intense, his gaze solely focused on me. Hatred burned there, beside fury and anger. I had a vague feeling that I knew him, just as I had felt before, but even now, even this close, nothing major triggered inside of me. To me, I felt as if I had known him maybe in passing, but he mustn't have had a major impact on my life in any way.

Else, surely, being this close would have triggered a memory. Yet, with how vehemently he was glaring at me, had he known me better than I knew him? "I'm not Annette," I told him, trying to be firm but patient and kind, as a Luna would be. "When we met the first time, you had been going under that name," he told me. "Do you not recall?" "I'm sorry," I said, still trying to play the part of a gracious host. "I've had some memory loss from the past six years. There are holes... I don't remember everything." His eyes narrowed with obvious suspicion.

"So you don't remember me, Ian?" "No, I'm sorry," I said. "I feel as if I maybe knew you briefly, but I just can't recall." Truly, with his insistence and intensity, I started to feel as if this man might have been mentally unwell. I glanced to the side, trying to make eye contact with one of the guards. I tried to do so subtly, though, not wanting to alarm the man. I wanted to appear as if everything was fine, so as not to escalate the situation. He had to have some slip of reality, didn't he? After all, even in the past six years, for what purpose would I need to go under a different name?

That just didn't make any sense. He said his name was Ian. For both our sakes, I tried to think hard on if that name was familiar. But again, I came up blank. I just couldn't remember anyone named Ian. "You are some piece of work," Ian snapped. "You and your brother and your apparent mate. You never mentioned him when we were engaged, did you?" "I truly believe you have me mistaken -" "Stop lying to me," Ian said fiercely. "For once in your life, tell me the truth. You faked it all, didn't you? You and your brother purposefully wanted me to appear like the worst kind of fool.

You've wanted from the start to humiliate me. Have my family not been diligent servants of the Alpha? Or was it for your own sick pleasure that you sought to destroy my reputation." 1/2 Chapter 391 +25 Bonus "I assure you that I did no such thing," I said. With renewed urgency, I looked around, trying to locate the guards and signal them to come over. In a flash, he grabbed me by the wrist, his hold tight, biting. "Stop lying." "I don't even know who you are!" I told him. The raised voices and the act against my person must have finally alerted the guards to my peril.

They rushed forward now, grabbing Ian roughly and yanking him back. My hand slipped from his. And I fell back a step. "Sir, you need to leave," one of the guards said. They started to push him back toward the exit. Still looking at me, even as he went, he shouted, "You're faking this, Annette! I know who you are! I won't let you get away with it!" I stared after him, even after the guards pushed him out through the door, feeling thoroughly confused. Though I didn't really remember him, he seemed so convinced that he knew me, and that he had known me as this Annette, whoever that was.
