Chapter 341 Amelia's POV Stacy moved and sat on the edge of the sofa, the closest to where Claire was pulled up beside it in her wheelchair. Stacy kept her hands in her lap, frowning down at them, and didn't otherwise move. Claire smiled at her daughter, but Stacy tried her best to not acknowledge her at all. "What kind of symptoms do you have?" I asked Claire. "Right now? Or always?" Claire replied, somewhat evasively. Even though she replied to me, her eyes were still on Stacy. "Both," I said. "Weakness," she said.
"And?" "Do I need more than that?" She finally looked at me, but it was sideways, a knife slicing through the air. "Last I checked, Annette, you were not my Healer. Yet you sure ask a lot of personal questions." "I'm a Healer," I said. "It's possible I could help." Claire hummed. "There's no need to worry about me right now, though I thank you for your concern. I'm surprised you are making the time for it. I would have thought that Sienna's upcoming trial would have filled your plate. Especially since she is being accused of trying to kill you." I froze, caught off-guard.
Truthfully, I hadn't heard much about the trial. For Claire to know more than me struck me like a blow. "The trial shouldn't be for months yet," I said, and looked to Damien for confirmation. He looked somewhat guilty. Generally, to my knowledge, the justice system, when pack led, not Alpha led, moved slowly. Damien seemed somewhat guilt, shifting as he was standing there. Before he could answer, Claire did, "It's tomorrow. And more, it's going to be televised. Why, you could watch it from this very room." She waved at the television hanging on the wall. "I'm sure you will want to see it.
Tell me, Annette, I'm so very curious. Did you have any idea what Sienna was plotting?" "Claire," Damien said roughly. "That's enough." I knew Claire was only asking these things to needle me, and I hated that it was working. I was supposed to be watching her closely, to look for tricks and deceptions to reveal that she was faking at least some of her condition. Instead, I was the one caught off-guard. My mind filled with unanswered questions, just as pain sliced through my heart. Truly, I had no idea why Sienna had done what she had done.

We had arguments, sure, but didn't we also have sisterly love and affection? I would have done anything for her, whatever she wanted. Did she feel like she couldn't just ask me to leave her alone? Why did she feel that I needed to be killed? None of it made sense, and I'd already been banned from asking her the questions myself. Perhaps if I were to watch the trial, I would uncover some of the truth, but I wasn't sure. Nothing that had been revealed to me so far made sense, would anything in the trial make sense either? 1/3 Claire smirked a little, though she quickly tried to hide it.
"She must have really hated you, Annette. What did you do to her?" "I didn't..." I started to say. "It's almost like you have some kind of witchcraft," Claire said. Witchcraft...? Suddenly, pain shot through my mind, and I crumpled over, clutching my head with both hands. "Mommy?" Amy asked, rushing toward me. Stacy was off the couch in a flash and coming toward me too. Witchcraft. The world swirled around and around in my mind. Why did that sound so familiar? Had I been accused of something like that before? I tried to remember, but the harder I tried, the more my head hurt.
Everything felt just out of reach, and like I was on some kind of marathon to try to catch up to it. "That's it," Damien said, turning toward Claire with a snarl on his face. "I've entertained this long enough. Leave, Claire. Now." "I'm not recharged yet," she said. "You've had enough. Girls, go to the other room. Claire. Out. Or I will force you out," he said. Claire sneered at him, lifting her chin. "Fine. There's no point in staying anyway, if she's going to be so dramatic." "Now, Claire," Damien demanded. "Fine." She clucked her tongue as she looked at me.
"Just don't get into any strange limos anytime soon, Annette." Damien started toward her, but she turned then and wheeled herself out of the room. Damien went with her, presumably all the way to the door. I heard the door slam then, and lock. Soon, Damien was back in the living room. "I'm sorry," I told the girls. "My head hurts so badly. I didn't mean to ruin everything." "It's okay, Mom," Stacy said. "Are you okay?" Amy asked. "I'm fine," I said, a little white lie. In truth, my mind was still throbbing, but I didn't want the girls to know. So I lowered my hands and kept them at my sides.
"I'm sorry to have dragged you both into all this." The girls seemed in good spirits, especially as I wasn't obviously hurting anymore. Soon though, Damien said, "Girls, go and get ready for bed." "But it's so early..." Stacy whined. "I need to talk to Annette," Damien replied. The girls each gave me a hug and then scrambled upstairs, their feet slamming on the stairs, echoing like a stampede. Or maybe it was just my headache. "Sit down, Annette," Damien said. He placed his hands gently on my arms and guided me toward the couch.
"You 2/3 429 Bonus look pale." I did as he asked, taking a seat on the couch. He sat down beside me and continued to look at me with concern. "Just a small headache," I told him. "Are you remembering something?" he asked. "I don't know," I said honestly. "Maybe. But... I can't... not yet. I can't quite remember what it was.' "Don't force it," Damien said. "Remember what Jeffery said. You have to let the memories come to you on your own. You can't chase them." I knew he was right, but this felt so important, it was impossible to not try at least.
"I want to remember what I did to make Sienna hate me," I said, and that was the truth of it. All this time, I thought we had been close, only to now discover the opposite. Maybe there were answers in my past. Perhaps I had done something absolutely unforgiveable to her and I just couldn't remember. Had she been quietly suffering all this time? "She didn't have a reason beyond her own jealousy," Damien said. "It has to be more than that," I said. "No," Damien replied. His voice was soft but his eyes were hard. "Annette. Sienna also plotted to kill Amelia, who had never done a thing to her.
Would it then be so surprising that she would also conspire to kill you?" "But jealousy?" "She wanted the love of her family only for herself," Damien said. "Anyone who threatened that was her enemy." I didn't know if I believed that. I felt like there had to be more to this. But the only person with the answers I wanted was Sienna. "Maybe..." I said. "If I could speak to her myself..." Comments Support Share 3/3 11225 Bonus Joseph King
