Chapter 441 +25 Bonus Chapter 441 The councilman's wife, named Regina, was a tall and slender woman with piercing eyes and a deceiving smile. We'd known each other since we were children, so I could see through the mask she wore better than most people. Her husband, Davis, was twice her age but wealthy. Regina was happy with her choice. "Claire," she said in warm greeting, until she really took in the sight of me dressed in my servant's attire." Gods, is that what you are wearing? My servants have better taste than this." "This is what my servants wear," Ian said.
Regina scrunched her nose at him. "I'm sure it is." Ian frowned like he was offended, but the confusion in his eyes said he didn't know why. "There's no time to waste," Ruth said. She stepped forward with a tray. On it, were four short glasses, each filled with a putrid-smelling, thick green concoction. "Are you sure about this?" I asked, looking more at Sienna than Ruth. Ruth might lie to the rest of us, but I didn't think she'd lie to Sienna. And I didn't think Sienna would lie to us. Sienna looked at her mother, who nodded.

Then, with a sigh, she said, "I'm sure." She was the bravest of us, apparently, because she grabbed her cup first and, holding her nose, drank it down. At once, I noticed the change. There was a sheen and then a faux face slipped over Sienna's features. Her eyes were the same, but the rest of her was distorted. Her typical features seemed to have been used as the base, but her nose got bigger, her cheeks wider. There were just enough changes that she looked like someone knew. That, combined with the scent nullifiers, made her seem like an entirely different person.
The rest of us grabbed our glasses and downed them. "Amazing," Regina said, seeing us now, transformed. "You could be anyone." "Perfect," I replied. "That's the idea. An hour later, we approached the border. While we had been riding in one of Regina's cars to get there, a roadblock forced us to exit the cars and cross the border on foot. Guards from both Jake's and Damien's pack were there, as well as Alpha Jake himself. Seeing him made Sienna tense up. Fortunately, given the high stress of the situation, she wasn't the only one acting nervous. No one liked to be under this kind of scrutiny.
Regina declared herself, and was allowed through. "These are my servants," she said, waving to us. One by one, we stepped over the border, following the line of Regina's actual servants. The guards looked at us, our faces and our clothes. I held my breath as it was my turn. One by one, we were checked and dismissed. Finally when the last of us, Ruth, had been waved through, we followed Regina back to the cars. There was a spring in our step now, but we were all trying to contain ourselves. 1/2 Chapter 441 +25 Bonus Just as I was opening the door, a voice rang out. "Wait." All of us froze.
Jake stepped closer. My heart pounded so hard I could hear it in my ears. Had he caught onto us? He held my gaze for a long enough moment to make me sweat. But then, suddenly, he dipped down, caught a handkerchief off the ground and handed it to me. "You dropped this." "T-thank you," I said, adding meekness to disguise my voice. I didn't think Jake knew me well enough to recognize my voice, but I wasn't taking chances. I accepted the handkerchief, then entered the car. Only when the doors were closed, and the cars driving away, did I feel like we finally got away with it.
Through the back window, I saw Jake watching us until we were out of sight. 2/2 Bonus Joseph King
