Chapter 188 Jake's POV I caught Amelia before she could face plant into the dirt. She was covered in blood, even on her face, down her chin. Behind her, I saw the reason why. Her attacker was in physical pieces... To the hells with him. If he attacked Amelia, then he was lucky she got to him first before me. Right now, my only priority had to be getting my sister to back to town and to the hospital. Pulling her up into my arms in a bridal carry, I didn't know what else to do but carry her myself back to town. There was a car there in a small clearing, but everything about it felt wrong.

That was the attacker's car. He had kidnapped Amelia and brought her out here terrified. I wasn't going to put her back in there. Maybe I could call for an ambulance instead? Quickly, I pulled out my phone. I held it up, and then up higher, trying to connect to signal, but there was none to be had. Cursing lightly, I put the useless thing back in my pocket. Holding Amelia close, I made up my mine and started to run. I pushed through the trees of the forest and back to the road. There, I could run more freely, carrying her back to the city.

As we went, I glanced down at her dirty and bloody face. Seeing past the grime, I remembered her as she usually looked. In hindsight, I was surprised I didn't recognize her immediately as my sister, when she had features of both my parents and grandparents. When I'd first met her, I'd felt a stirring of emotion within me, but I'd been unsure of the source. I realized I was foolish now, thinking her of possibly being my fated mate, when it was a familial fondness I felt, Yet it hadn't been until her wolf manifested that I was able to connect the dots. She was supposed to be human.

Even now, knowing with certainty that she was my sister, I wasn't sure it was possible. My parents never indicated that they had lost a child to kidnapping or anything of the like. How had Amelia come to be raised in the human realm? I had more questions than answers, but for now none of that mattered. Once Amelia and her baby were safe, we could sort all of this out. I could speak with my parents and learn the full truth. Or at least, together, we could sort it out. I pushed my human body to the limit, moving as fast as I could.

Yet even when I started to see the city lights, my heart was still caught in the tight grip of stress. As we neared the hospital at last, Amelia began to stir. I didn't slow, but I did glance down every few steps. Her face was scrunched with pain and she grunted and moaned with it. I could tell, just from looking at her face that whatever agony she was in would soon pull her into darkness again, and soon. So, before that could happen, I asked her something I thought only she could know. 1/3 Chapter is +25 Bonus Something I desperately needed the answer to.

So that I could start taking revenge. "Who is responsible for this, Amelia?" She blinked a few times, but her eyes never really cleared. Looking up at me with blurry, watery eyes, she said one name. "Damien..." Then she collapsed again. I was glad when she was unconscious again, so that she would not continue to feel the pain. But that one name stayed with me. Inside of me, some of the worry for Amelia and the terror of this situation. shifted into an ugly sort of rage. Damien did this. I'd personally see that he wouldn't get away with it.

Amelia had taken care of her attacker in the forest, but she could leave Damien to me. Damien's POV The first thing I felt, as I struggled back towards consciousness, was the worst headache I'd ever experienced in my life. Though as an Alpha werewolf, I didn't experience much pain like this at all, so any headache would have been bad enough. This one pulsed though, so badly that even my thoughts made it hurt. I kind of felt like I had drank an entire liquor store last night, and this was a hell of a hangover. But I didn't remember drinking that much.

Come to think of it, much of the previous night was a blur. All I really remembered was... rage. Blinking my eyes open, I tried to focus on where I was. Looking around; I recognized that I was on the floor of my hotel room. But the room itself was trashed. The walls and couches had suffered tear marks that could only have been made with werewolf claws. The wooden furniture - chairs, tables, end tables - were mostly smashed, in pieces scattered around. In flashes of memory, I saw myself smashing things in my confused rampage. No room was safe from my rage.

I remembered that I'd even destroyed the bathroom fixtures. The water was likely flooding down into the floor below. Or maybe the hotel staff, realizing they had a feral wolf on their hands, just shut off the water to be dealt with when I came to my senses again. Which led me to remembering how I was finally put down. Victoria. My poor sister shot me with a tranquilizer gun. Gods. How many times? The empty vials were still on the floor, some of them smashed when I'd tried to fight against the drugs that had ultimately calmed me into slumber.

I would have to apologize to Victoria for making her do that. Though I wondered why they made her do something 2/3 Chapter 163 +25 Bonus like that? Shouldn't the authorities have handled it? I had so many questions. The biggest on my mind, in that moment, as my thoughts were starting to clear was.... What the hell triggered all this? I couldn't remember, but something must have happened. I tried to think back, yet, as I did, as my headache eased and the fog in my mind dissipated, I immediately keeled over with a new kind of pain struck through me.

At once, I understood what had triggered my feral rage because it very nearly claimed me again. Amelia. She was in some kind of trouble. I could feel it through the mating bond. Pain rippled all over her body, and thusly ripped through mine now. But that didn't make sense. Even bonded, Amelia and I had never shared things like this before. Her being human put a damper on our mating bond. I could still feel her, but it was like an echo, or a low distant thrum. Right now, I could feel her pain as surely as if it had been my own. Gods, I'd never felt pain like this in my life. But...

what if it wasn't her pain I was feeling through the bond, but the breaking of the bond itself. If she was a werewolf, I'd be more inclined to believe that I could feel her pain, but as she was human... To feel like this, like my world was ending... What if she was dead? What if the bond had broken? Barely clinging to my sanity, I rushed out of the hotel room, desperate to find her. Alive or dead, I would see with my own eyes. Comments Support Share 3/3 Joseph King
