Chapter 534 Damien's POV I was on the ground, with Richard's teeth sinking into my neck. Hot blood pushed from my wounds, curling down through my fur and dripping onto the dirt beneath me. This could so easily be the end. My body was tired. If I just closed my eyes, none of this would matter anymore. As the blood drained from me, my problems seemed so very far away. What was I fighting, so hard for again? It was difficult to remember... The darkness was closing in. Then, like a crack of lightning in a dark stormy night, I heard my mate's plea inside of my head, Keep fighting. Please, Damien!
Yes. I was fighting for her. For our children. Our pack. Our home, Our future. Weak as I was, I couldn't give up, couldn't surrender and let this man win. Richard wanted to take everything from us, and I was all that stood in the way, stopping that from happening Gathering what was length of my strength, I swiveled around beneath him. His teeth were at my neck, pinning my head, keeping me from using my own canines. But I still had my claws, and as we were, Richard had left his entire vulnerable belly exposed.
Brandishing my claws, I tore at him from shoulder to pelvis, cutting in as deeply as I could, With a yelp and a howl, he released my neck and stumbled backwards. He sunk down low, feeling, weaker now than even I must have. This turnaround renewed my strength and I forced myself up to my feet, Already, I could feel the torn skin at my neck healing. The bleeding had already stopped, Richard, it seemed, did not possess this same ability. His blood continued to ooze down. While I grew stronger, he remained weak. Yes. I was finally turning the tide. My confidence soared.
This victory was soon to be mine. Claire's POV In the span of a few short minutes, our side of the battlefield went from riding high to feeling lower than the dirt. The tables turned quickly, and now Richard was on the losing side. If he were to lose... that would be the end of all of our dreams. He had been so confident, so sure, and we had all believed in him. Now he was proving to be as weak as the rest. A liar. A fool. 1/4 Chapter 534 +25 Bonus I was tired of allowing others to control my destiny.

Richard, Benedict, and Damien might have decided on the terms of the challenge, but the rest of us sure hadn't. I glanced to my right and to my left. "We must hold," Ruth said, but there was pain in her eyes. She wasn't thrilled about watching the love of her life die, even if she was the one who should have believed in him the most. If she thought he was done for, we truly had no chance. I wasn't going down like this. Several rogues around me looked as anxious as I was. I knew they agreed. "Mother says to hold," Sienna said, though beside her, Ian seemed as restless as rest of us.
"I've had enough," I growled. "Who is with me?!" I shouted, thrilled and emboldened as a great many warriors cheered. Then, I started moving forward. So many moved with me, I was empowered. Some went to Richard, to protect him, but my gaze was on the enemy line. On Amelia. She wasn't going to escape me here. The rest of the battle could go to the hells for all I cared, but I was going to take Amelia down with me. I dashed forward, straight to her. Some of the enemy line started to break, many holding to the rules of the challenge, but some coming forward to meet their new rebel contenders.
When I reached Amelia, I leaped. She blocked me, but we grappled. I knew, from seeing her at the tournament that she was fast but didn't have much strength, so I had trained for strength, while learning to hold my own against someone faster. She tried to escape my grip with her speed, but I predicted her movements, having trained for just this moment. I grabbed her arm, twisted it back behind her. She fell down to her knees. She glared up at me, not realizing she was exposing her throat.
I grabbed it with my free hand, then started a controlled shift to make my claws grow into the skin of her neck. Fear flashed in her eyes and she winced. To kill her wasn't enough. I needed Damien to see it, to know he lost everything. He had lived a life full of wrong choices. If he had picked me from the start, he could have been spared all of this. The whole war, possibly. Lifting my gaze, I searched for him in the fighting. His wide eyes were on me. No, on Amelia. Of course. He only ever had eyes for her.
He was trying to get to us, but with all the warriors in his way, he would never make it in time. Well, this would be the last time. Now he would get to watch her die. Amelia's POV Claire's hand was on my throat. Her claws were digging into my neck at the same time her tight grip was cutting off my breathing. If I did nothing, I would soon die. 2/4 Chapter 534 +25 Bonus I wouldn't see Damien again, or my children. I wouldn't get to enjoy the peace that was sure to come from this battle. Even with my death, I was certain we wouldn't lose. But Damien... I couldn't do this to him.
I couldn't die. I promised. "Please... help me!" I begged my wolf. She answered. In an instant, I shifted into my wolf form. My wolf was strong and brushed off Claire's hold. She shifted too, but too slowly. With a growl and a snarl, I clawed and snapped at her, causing her to stumble back and down. Claire had stalked me from the shadows for too long. I wasn't going to lose this time. I was never going to be afraid of her ever again. She tried to fight me off, by I clamped my jaws around her neck until she stopped moving. She wasn't dead. I could still see her breathing. But I felt free.
I shifted back to human just as Damien reached me. We covered in blood, others' and our own, but neither of us cared as we held tightly onto one another. "Amelia." His voice was broken. "I'm okay." Behind him, Richard, battered and broken, was shouting for his rogue army. "Attack them! We will not let them win! Attack them, and let us seize this day and the futures we deserve!" While many of his army had already surged forward with Claire, most of the troops had stayed behind to honor the rules of the challenge. Now, hearing the calls of their leader, they looked at each other, uncertain.
A few took some steps forward. While the enemy line had mostly devolved into chaos, ours remained strong. The only warriors that stepped forward were those that defended themselves against the attacking rogues. But even those were getting back in line now. "Prepare for battle!" Damien called.
