Chapter 192 Jake's POV A week passed. Amelia and her baby had both safely made it back to my pack, but they were still at the hospital. Amelia was still unconscious, and the baby still needed some care. Though she arrived earlier than expected, because she was fully werewolf, there wasn't as much concern. But Dr. Wyatt wanted to be careful, and I wasn't going to argue, especially when we wanted the baby to be near her mother, to be there when Amelia woke up and wanted her. Despite my desire to be at Amelia's side in the hospital as much as possible, there were other matters to attend to.

I had already sent word to the Alpha King with as much knowledge as I knew what had happened to Amelia. Uncle Benedict promised to start taking steps, but said there might be limits to what he could do until Amelia woke up and could speak for herself. Without his full support, I was willing to take matters into my own hands and made the hospital and my estate both into something like twin fortresses. Half of my pack's enforcers were always here or there. The two buildings were never unprotected, just in case Damien showed up. Something felt off about that whole exchange.

Damien's grief, in learning Amelia had died, seemed real, like it had torn him apart. Had the plan not been to kill her? Had he only hoped to kidnap her? But then why had he been at the Ball that night, instead of wherever her attacker was taking her? Unless he was trying to set up an alibi? I didn't know. None of it really made sense to me, but my desire to protect Amelia kept me from asking too many questions, or at least not caring about the answers. Maybe it didn't need to make sense. If Damien was trying to hurt Amelia, then he had to be dealt with. Simple as that.

Right now, though, we had a different problem. Right now, we had to explain the situation to Sienna. I personally invited her to the estate, calling her away from her university. She sat in the living room with Mom and Dad on either side of her, comforting and close. I stayed nearby on a tall-back chair. By now, we had the results of the genetic testing on Amelia, and could prove she was both a werewolf as well as Martin and Lillian's daughter. She was my true sister. I'd already known that, I could sense it, but it was nice to have the confirmation.

And it made it easier to explain things to Sienna now. "Amelia is our daughter," Martin said, his voice more gentle than I'd ever heard it. "She is our family." "You're sure?" Sienna asked. "Isn't she human?" "She was taken..." Mom said as tears filled her eyes. "Her kidnapper must have taken her to the human realm. Around humans, Amelia's wolf must have stayed dormant." "We have a DNA test," Dad added. "The facts are the facts, here." Sienna slumped slightly, her shoulders curling into herself. 1/2 "This is difficult to ask Sienna, but..." Dad cleared his throat.

"Your mother and I only had two children. If Amelia is our daughter, then... It's possible you and her were switched at birth." Sienna's eyes went wide as he face went pale. Her voice was very soft, barely a whisper, as she asked, "I'm not your daughter?" "We don't know," Dad said. "You are in every way that matters," Mom said at once. "Whatever a DNA test says, you will be our child." "No. If that's true, then you don't need a DNA test," Sienna said. "I'm your daughter. Your only daughter." She was clearly deep in denial. "It's not that simple," Mom said.

"Shouldn't it be?" Mom looked at Dad for help. Dad said, "We will never kick you out, Sienna. You are our daughter. But we need to know what happened. And the only way to do that is to have all the facts." Comments Support +2 Share 2/2 Joseph King
