Chapter 402 +25 Bonus Claire's POV In the evenings, after I returned from trial, Sienna and I would talk about everything that occurred. She didn't get to watch television much here in jail, and while I found her mostly annoying and far beneath me, I didn't have many options for conversation here. And I didn't have many friends left either. For now, I had to take sympathy wherever I could get it. Sienna would have to be good enough. After explaining all that happened today, I already knew that things weren't going well for me.

Sienna didn't help, by snorting a laugh and saying, "You really aren't getting out of here. Better get comfortable." I wasn't going to give him and accept her words. There was nothing about here that was worth getting comfortable for, and I hadn't suffered all this time, plotting and lying, pushing away my own brother, just to end up spending the rest of my life in this place. My only problem was, at the moment, I didn't know how to get out of this.

I spent most of my waking hours trying to plan something, a means of escape, or a way to manipulate the system, or to call on one of the few allies I had left. But no matter how hard I tried to push the pieces together in my mind, I couldn't find a solution to this puzzle I was trapped in. The protestors were a major piece in play, but my trial was progressing so quickly, I knew I would likely be judged before they could actually do anything to have my trial transferred. Alpha Jake, it seemed, wanted to take me down as fast as possible. "At least the food isn't so bad," Sienna said.

"It's not good," I countered. "I didn't say it was good. It just could be worse." How miserable was her existence here that she was praising the semi-adequate food? Very sad. I would not become like her. No matter what. Our flowers from Ian were starting to wilt, but Sienna still went to hers brightly and sniffed them. She'd already taken a few and pressed them between the pages of her books, like she was trying to preserve them forever. What a hopeless girl, still so lovesick over a boy who never wanted her.

The whole thing was laughable, and I would laugh, if I had any humor left in my person. As it was, the seriousness of my present situation was starting to chip away at my mood. I'd almost rather be exiled than be trapped in here. At least Ethan and Victoria were making a life out there. They even had children. Gods knew how they were surviving, but they were doing it. They were rogues but they were mostly free. At least, their cage didn't have steel bars.

The door at the end of the hallway creaked open and both Sienna and I quieted, expecting guards, 1/3 Oddly, the sound of shuffling, light footsteps came down the hall, not the heavy harsh boots from the guards we were expecting. Then our visitor appeared, a frail older woman with a satchel on her side, strap swung over her shoulder. She ignored me entirely, looking instead into Sienna's cell. Sienna straightened, and I saw a spark of recognition in her eyes. "What are you doing here?" "You know her?" I asked. "She's one of the servants at Jake's estate.

She's been there as long as I can remember." To the servant, Sienna said, "Ruth, why have you come here?" While Sienna was trying to piece together the intent of our visitor, I clutched the bars and tried to look sideways down the hallway as far as I could. I also listened, stretching out my wolf to detect any sounds. The world beyond our jail door was quiet. Where were the guards? It was unusual enough for them to allow a visitor in here unattended, but to not even be watching from the door? "How did you get in here?" I asked The woman, Ruth, was still facing Sienna's cell.

She wasn't paying any attention to me. Then, Ruth lifted up her hand, and dangling from one of her fingers was a key. "...Ruth?" Sienna asked, speechless. "You've been here too long," Ruth said. "I'm getting you out." She stepped forward, placed the key into the lock of Sienna's cell and turned. The lock unclasped and the door opened wide. Sienna was staring at it like it would soon explode. "Now, girl," Ruth said. "Hurry. We don't have much time before the knock-out powder I used on the guards wears off and they awaken again." "But..." "Sienna, what are you waiting for?" I asked.

"This is our chance at freedom." At this, Sienna lifted a brow. "Our?" Ruth, too, turned to look at me for the first time. Her face was unimpressed. No way in the hells was I staying here if Sienna had a way out. I didn't care what I had to promise or lie or who I had to manipulate, I was not going to be left behind. "You are going to want revenge, aren't you?" I said. "You need me." "She doesn't need you," Ruth said. "It seems, to me, that you need her." "We need each other," I said. "Come on, Sienna. Haven't I always done my best for you? Don't you think I can 2/3 help you now?

You wouldn't leave me here to rot." "None of your plans have worked so far," Sienna said. "All you ever did was boss me around." "We'll work together this time," I said. "You and me, we'll think of something that really gets Amelia this time, once and for all." Ruth seemed skeptical but Sienna was the one I needed to convince. "And I can help you with Ian," I added. Sienna looked at Ruth. "Open her cell, too." Damien's POV I went to work feeling like everything was finally going right. Amelia was so caught up in her planning that she didn't seem bothered by the past anymore.

The girls were having a good time at school. And Claire's trial was going so well that most of the analysts seemed convinced it would soon be over. Even with the protestors at the trial, the alliance between the packs has held on strong, and with Alpha King Benedict soon to visit, I imagined the bond would grow even stronger. This would also give Amelia the chance, once and for all, to prove herself to her remaining doubters. Truly, everything seemed to be going my way at last. After so much strife, so much heartache, I was thrilled to finally see a light at the end of this tunnel.

I sat at my desk, ready to face the day's challenges. Whatever awaited me here today, I felt ready to be able to handle. When my phone rang, the outside line, I didn't even wait for Keegan to answer and screen the call. Today, I was so confident, I knew there was nothing I couldn't face. Picking up the phone, I cheerily said, "This is Alpha Damien," hoping to startle the other person on the line. They likely didn't expect the Alpha to answer directly. "Damien," Jake said, his voice heavy with barely contained rage. Immediately, my good mood flew straight out the window. "What is it, Jake?

What happened?" Jake answered at once, "Claire and Sienna escaped." P Comments Support Share 3/3 +25 Bonus Joseph King
