Chapter 522 +25 Bonus Chapter 522 Damien's POV I only heard two words from Amelia's phone call. Kids. Gone. That was enough to have me racing down the hallways and out the door of the office building without any explanation to anyone I had even just been talking to. I didn't care about anything else in this moment except my children and my family. I had to get home. My wolf was aligned with me in this desire, and we made it to the house in record time. Amelia was in the backyard with her parents and Jake. "The trail goes through here. If I could shift -" he said. "You can't, Jake.
Not yet," Lillian said. "You aren't healed." I shifted back into a human as I landed beside them. "Damien, thank the gods," Amelia said. She immediately came toward me, placing her hands on my arm. girls are gone. Jake tracked them to here, but they go into the woods. We need an Alpha's nose." "The girls need their father," Martin said. "I can assist," Jake said stubbornly. "Stay here in case they come back," Lillian said. "That will help more than you think." "The Jake pressed his mouth hard together like he wanted to argue but was holding himself back.
Blessedly, he didn't say a single word, else I might have snapped at him. We were wasting time. "Follow me," I said to Amelia and her parents. Each of them nodded. I shifted into my wolf form once more. They quickly followed instruction, shifting as well, then they followed me out into the woods. I sniffed around, gathering the scent of the girls. From there, I followed it with haste into the forest. Amelia and her parents stayed close behind, keeping to my shadow as I zigzagged through the trees. Too soon, we reached the edge of my pack's border, where the rogue territories began.
The girls, of their own free will or otherwise, had crossed it. Strangely, I didn't detect any other scents with the girls, and from their meandering pace, it seemed as if they had gone on their own. For what purpose, I couldn't say. Why would they want to flee their perfectly good and safe home? They didn't know about the war, but they still should have known better than to leave the house, let alone the pack border. I stopped at the border, weighing options.
I would do absolutely anything for my children, but as tensions were already high, my crossing the border would be perceived as an act of aggression. It could kick start the looming 1/4 war, with my side as the attacking force. The girls didn't seem under duress or to be in distress. I wanted to rush in to save them, but... "This is the rogue border," Martin said. Amelia and her parents had shifted to talk. I shifted too. "They crossed the border here. I can't detect anyone with them.

It was like they were on a sort of adventure walk, but they could be walking straight into danger..." "You can't cross the border without starting the war," Martin said, understanding at once. "The children could remain undetected but your Alpha scent will give you away at once. Your presence there would likely make everything worse." "I'll go," Amelia said. "I'll go and I'll do it on my own." "No, you "I started to say but then held myself back. With the children on the line, what other options did I have?
I knew Amelia was quick, she could be in and out with haste, and there was no one I trusted more with the safety of our children. But crossing the border would put Amelia in danger too. That would push my entire family out of reach without any way for me to reach them. Amelia looked at me with fierce determination, like I was the enemy she needed to combat and not the rogues. I hated this distance I had helped put between us. There wasn't time for this. Our girls needed us. "Go," I said. "If you find yourself in danger, call to me through the bond.
I don't care how many wars I start, I will not lose my mate or my children.' Surprise flooded Amelia's face. Quickly, I leaned in and kissed her. "Please be careful," I told her. Amy's POV Victoria gave us some of her berries as we sat in the grass with her kids. There were two, a boy named Philip and a girl named Paulina. They were nice, even if they were barefoot. Weren't they worried about snakes or bugs? I kept my thoughts to myself, not wanting to be rude. Victoria was pacing somewhat, worrying her hands like she was trying to figure out what to do.
I didn't know what her problem was, though it seemed to really bother her. Adults could be like that sometimes, so caught up in their heads. Instead, Stacy and I focused on the other kids. "Are you rogues?" Stacy asked. I tried to shush her, but it was too late. The other kids didn't seem offended by it though. 2/4 Khote 10 Paulina tilted her head to one side while Philip said, "Yeah?" "It's just, we've never met rogues before," I said, trying to cover for Stacy's rudeness.
+25 Bonus "We were taught that all rogues were scary," Stacy said, "Teacher never said there were kid rogues too." "We were born as rogues," Paulina said. "Pack wolves are the mean ones. They don't care that we're kids. To them, we're all evil." "I don't think you are evil," I said. "Neither do 1," Stacy said. "And the berries are yummy." "Mom knows which ones are best," Philip said. "She's teaching us." "Can she teach us too?" I asked. Philip looked up at his mother, nervously pacing. Then he looked back at me.
"Maybe later." Leaning forward, I lowered my voice, "Is she okay?" "She gets like that sometimes," Philip said in the same hushed tone. "When she's worried about something." "Daddy says that Mommy used to be like a princess in her pack," Paulina said proudly. "She used to be really important. That makes us important too." I nodded. That made sense. And as someone important - a princess! - Victoria must have been used to carrying around a lot of worries. I'd seen Dad look worried too. "We're kind of important too," Stacy said. "We're-" "Shh," Victoria said suddenly.
"Someone's coming." She rushed toward us from one direction. At the same time, a wolf leapt out of the brush from the other side. Victoria, seeing the wolf, shifted in an instant. The two wolves were similar sized, both snarling at each other. Victoria's kids rushed to hide behind her. They waved to me and Stacy, urging us to seek protection there. But... This new wolf wasn't scary. I knew her at once and so did Stacy. This was our mom.
I didn't understand why she was going to fight with Victoria, when all Victoria had done was share her berries with us and watch us while we sat with her kids for a while. Standing, I hurried to step in front of Mom. Keeping my arms outstretched, wanting to protect my new friends, I told her, "Don't, Mom! They were helping us!" 3/4 Joseph King
