Chapter 417 Chapter 417 Claire's POV +25 Bonus I waited for evening to fall, when the curtains were closed and we could roam the house more freely. Then, I went upstairs to track down Ian. It was time for him and me to have a chat of our own, away from the curious ears of the others. I found him in his study, angrily typing on his keyboard. He was pushing the keys so loud, the click clack echoed out into the hallway. When I closed the office door behind me, he finally ceased, noticing me at last. "What are you doing?" I asked.
"Writing an angry email?" "Alpha Jake has been consistently excluding me from things," he said. "When it happens, I let the pack council know about it." "Isn't the event on Damien's pack lands?" "Same difference," Ian growled. "It's that Annette... Amelia... whatever. She's plotting against me. The whole family wants to humiliate me." Maybe that was true, but I doubted it. That family had far too many other troubles going on to care about what happened to Ian. To tell him that though, and to devalue him in that way, would not earn me any favors.
Right now, to get him to do what I wanted him to do, I needed him on my side. "That sucks," I said, trying to emphasize. "I can't believe they would do that, but then again, they've always been fickle and so easily jealous. Look at how easily they cast Sienna aside. And then there's what they did to me." Ian nodded like I'd just given him words of reason. Good. Hopefully he could perceive some connection between us. Forming connections like that was the first step in mastering manipulation. "That's why it's so frustrating that Sienna doesn't want to commit to my plan for revenge," I said.
Ian's face tightened even further. "She's a stubborn woman. Sometimes she can't see the bigger picture." "True," I said. "Maybe it's up to us to help her see." Ian leaned back on his office chair. With his elbows on the desktop, he pressed his fingertips together, forming a temple in front of his mouth. "If you have some idea on how to do this, I would hear it." "Really, I think you are the only one who can help convince her," I said. He seemed perplexed for a moment, so I pressed, "You can't possibly be so blind as to not notice the way she looks at you.

She's basically in love with you." "Oh. That." Shaking his head, he sighed. "She has convinced herself that I am her perfect match. I've given her no such reason for this." "She has a crush on you, that's true," I said. "And I'm not saying that you have to return her feelings fully. But >> I allowed the word to hang, hoping to entice his interest. 1/3 Chapter 417 +25 Bonus "But?" he prompted, and I bit back a smirk, knowing that I'd hooked him. "If she thought you had feelings for her, even if they were put on, then that would help make sure she and her mother stayed loyal to our cause.
Revenge is all we really want, isn't it? Would it be so bad to pretend, if it helped us achieve our means?" Ian fell silent for a moment, as if considering my words. I gave him time to think, all while watching him closely. If I saw that he was thinking of refusing my suggestion, I'd have to press harder. But there was no disdain on his features, just a soft curiosity and quiet pondering. "She's not... unattractive," Ian said. "And I suppose it would be amusing to be with someone who adores me, even if I do not share in those feelings for her." "True, true," I said, gently encouraging him.
"I suppose it is rather harmless," he said. "And if it will help us achieve our goals." "It will," I said. "We want revenge. Help Sienna see that it's in her best interest as well." "Yes," he said, staring off into space for a moment. "Yes, I believe I can do that." Sienna's POV My curiosity was getting the better of me as I wandered to the highest floor to peek in on Ian's bedroom. I'd never been up there, never seen it, though I had dreamed about it often enough.
I knew it wasn't my place, even now, and I also knew I was pushing my luck by trying to see it when Ian had not given me an invitation. He was being so kind, allowing us to stay here and protecting us from Jake and Damien. Yet, I felt like a moth drawn to a flame. My feelings for Ian were so strong that I just had to know what his bedroom looked like, to give more accuracy to my dreams and imaginings. All I did was stick my head into a dark room when I heard footsteps coming up the stairs behind me. Panicked, I turned away from the door, and started to walk down the other way.
"Sienna, is that you?" Ian asked. I froze, caught. Thinking quickly, I turned back to him and laughed nervously, "I was just... looking for the bathroom...?" Ian gave me a flat look. My horrible attempt at a lie had clearly missed its mark. I winced, bracing myself for a scolding. Instead, to my surprise, Ian started to smile. "I think you were looking for something else," he said. He took a few steps forward toward his bedroom door. "I didn't leave this open." I paled. "I can explain." "You don't have to," he said. "I already know. And...
I want the same thing..." I froze again, except this time, my heart was pounding so hard, I thought it was going to fly straight out of my chest. 2/3 "You... You do?" He lifted a hand, gesturing me closer, and I moved at once, closing the distance to approach him. When I was close enough, he placed his hand on my hip. His gaze trailed down my body, lingering on my breasts. I was so confused. Didn't he have feelings for Amelia? Wasn't that why he was always so angry? But if that was true, why was he looking at me right now like he wanted to eat me whole?
My body reacted at once, suddenly so pleased to have the attention of the one whose attention I had desired for years. The aching inside of myself might finally find some relief. I didn't want to question it. I just wanted him, and whatever he was willing to give me. "Stay the night with me," Ian said. I swallowed hard. Once I started nodding, I couldn't stop. There were so many reasons this was a terrible idea. Not the least of which was that he had already rejected me several times before. Did he even really want me? Or was I just convenient? Yet, I couldn't get myself to care.
Not in this moment. I was so desperate to be seen and to be loved that I was willing to ignore all the red flags. Maybe things had changed for him. Maybe I wasn't just convenient. Maybe he was finally seeing me the way I always wanted him to. I held onto that hope, that dream, as he leaned down and kissed me. When he dragged me into his bedroom, I gave up thinking altogether. And finally just let myself be happy. P Comments Support Share +2 3/3 Joseph King
