---- Chapter 90 A Happy Little Group Vesper was drenched in sweat from the heat. The morning had worn him out, but he didn't dare use his ability, so he could only dig bit by bit with the tool Ardenia gave him. Ardenia soaked a towel in the well water and wrung it out. Since Vesper was tall, when he saw Ardenia wanted to wipe his sweat, he immediately bent down. But as he bent over, a pang of jealousy hit him. Niall's scent-the smell of that fox-was still lingering on Ardenia... It's fine, it's fine. | was the first to light the totem with her.
Ardenia has so many mates, she can't possibly focus on me alone. Vesper quietly took a deep breath. He understood he shouldn't be jealous. "Tired?" Ardenia asked. "I'm fine." Vesper forced a smile. He was just trying to cheer himself up. ---- Tobias came over too. He didn't even have any sweat on his face, but he squeezed his way in. Ardenia shook her head and wrung out a towel for him too. With his sharp nose, Tobias also picked up on Niall's scent lingering on Ardenia. That wicked fox-he clearly did it on purpose. But deep down, Tobias wasn't mad. They were all her mates.
If they all went around being jealous, how could they live? As long as Ardenia cared about him, that was enough. Thinking back to last night, Tobias's face turned red. But he wondered, when did Niall get his chance? Tobias hadn't noticed anything off-how did that sneaky fox finish so quickly? Calder, still groggy from his hangover, wandered into the kitchen and saw what was going on. His heart broke. He hadn't managed to keep Ardenia with him last night, and on top of that, he'd slept like a log. He felt so disappointed when he woke up and didn't see Ardenia beside him.
---- "Ardenia, my head hurts so much." Calder's face was pale, looking completely worn out. He sat down at the table, looking like he might faint any second. Tobias snorted. Calder was the most calculating of them all- his tricks for getting attention were always underhanded. "If you'd stop singing those awful songs, your head wouldn't hurt!" Amerman who spent all day singing with his head thrown back-of course he was dizzy from lack of oxygen. Even though Tobias had gotten Ardenia's affection last night, he still spoke sharply. He hadn't forgotten what Calder tried to pull.

"Ardenia..." Calder didn't say anything more, just looked up at Ardenia with big, pitiful eyes. Ardenia couldn't resist that look. She reached over and flicked Tobias on the forehead. It didn't hurt-actually, it tickled a little. Tobias rubbed his forehead and grinned like a lovesick fool, ---- then huffed and turned away, refusing to look at Calder. "Calder, come sit here." Ardenia pointed to the spot in front of her. Calder pressed his lips together, secretly thrilled. He knew Ardenia could never stay mad at him. She had so.
many mates-what was wrong with him using a few tricks to get closer to her? Even though he hadn't succeeded last night, he'd at least closed the gap between them. He figured he'd be the next one. But as soon as he got closer, Calder's face fell. Ardenia didn't just smell like Tobias-Niall's scent was even stronger. Tobias's scent was faint, but Niall's was overwhelming-he clearly left it on purpose. Now Calder really wanted to cry. After all his careful planning last night, he'd ended up helping Tobias and Niall instead? The more he thought about it, the worse he felt.
---- "Here, have some ravioli. It'll settle your stomach." There wasn't enough for everyone, but Ardenia had just made afew. "| want some too!" Tobias protested as soon as he saw that Calder got one and he didn't. Vesper didn't say anything, but it was obvious what he wanted. Ardenia said, "| gave Calder strong liquor last night, and | was worried he'd feel hungover this morning, so | made them specially for him. You'll get yours tonight." Melissa's cubs had been here earlier, so she hadn't made many.
There just wasn't enough to go around, but tonight, once Niall came back from hunting, she'd make more with fresh meat. Calder perked right up. Ardenia had made food just for him- no one else got any. Lighting the totem was great and all, but Ardenia's heart was always with him! Happy and revived, Calder gobbled up the ravioli, savoring ---- every bite. "This is so good!" Vesper was speechless. Tobias thought, Stupid merman. Stop showing off. Just eat your ravioli and shut up! Wow, what a happy little group...
On the mountaintop, Colin, the black serpent from the day before, observed everything carefully. Then, he let out a cold snort before slithering back into the forest. Halden, coming back from the river, suddenly stopped and looked off into the distance, feeling like a pair of eyes was watching him. /s it just my imagination? | wonder what Ardenia has cooked. It smells amazing! Melissa waited with her cubs by the woods for her mates. Ardenia handed out fried chicken strips to each little one. The cubs were delighted with their food.
---- It was impossible to stay near the kitchen-the flirty exchanges between Ardenia and her mates were enough to make anyone blush. Halden noticed how uncomfortable Melissa looked and strode over. When he saw Ardenia packing up food, he naturally washed his hands and took over the task. "IU do it." Ardenia smiled. "Go take a break, | can handle it." Vesper watched coldly from the side and thought, Hey,/'m still here, you know. Did you all forget about me? Despite all the earlier self-soothing, he instantly fell moody again.
