Chapter 244 Praise, Pride, and Fireflies +10 Free Coins The long black serpent's stubbornness came down to two things. First, he didn't know how to get along with the others. Second-and more likely-he thought Ardenia liked his face, and with his personality, that meant it was something meant for her eyes alone. Now that he had finally come down, if Niall said one more nasty thing, a fight would be the least of their problems. The real trouble would be if the snake coiled back up and refused to leave again.
Niall had no desire to whisper to Ardenia with that thing hanging around every single time. Colin said nothing and took a seat off to the side. His unkempt bangs shadowed half his face as he quietly worked at the seafood, alone and withdrawn, as if he'd been left out on purpose. By the time Ardenia finished washing up and came over, her plate was already full. Tobias followed behind her with an armful of freshly dyed cloth. He'd been in a good mood a second ago, but seeing Colin wiped the smile right off his face. So now, even the youngest is trying to get ahead.
He'd just been telling Ardenia that seafood shells were hard and that he'd peel them for her tonight. Now, he didn't even get the chance. Colin ignored Tobias completely. The moment he saw Ardenia, he stood up and pulled her into his arms. breathing in her familiar, pleasant scent. His eyes curved with happiness as he said, "Ardenia, eat." Whatever Halden could do, he could do too. And what he couldn't do yet, he could learn-slowly, patiently. One day, he would be a good mate, and she would rely on him the way she relied on Halden. He was confident.
Ardenia answered softly and pulled him down to sit with her. Colin had really improved today. Not bad at all. "You did great today." Good kids were raised on praise. Colin lowered his head, the corners of his mouth twitching despite himself. She'd praised him several times already today. He needed to keep working harder. Something in Colin finally clicked, and he lifted his head at last. Ardenia caught it immediately and didn't miss the chance. "There you go," she said warmly. "Look at you. You are even better now. You've made real progress today.

Such a good boy." 1/3 14 13:07 Wed, Jan 21 Chapter 244 Praise, Pride, and Fireflies She patted his head and ran her fingers through his hair. +10 Free Coins Colin pressed his lips together, barely holding back a smile. Niall scoffed to himself. Like Ardenia, he still preferred the old Colin-sharp-edged and untamed. Anything was better than this soft, completely tamed version. He'd been thoroughly coaxed into it. Bathed in praise and affection, Colin found what he believed to be his ultimate value.
He peeled a whole plate of seafood for Halden, then for Calder, then Tobias, and even Niall got a plate. Last came the quietest one of all-Vesper. When he finished, Colin straightened his back. What he was waiting for was obvious. Ardenia covered her mouth, laughing. So good-after all that work, he even got a kiss. And she kissed him right there, in front of all five of them. Amazing. "I'll go bring in the rice." Colin thumped his chest, full of energy. He felt like he could do anything right now-there were endless things he could help with.
Brave Colin was determined to outshine all five of them. He was going to prove to her that he was the most useful one in this family. This was insane. Was this what people meant by the art of taming? What had she turned him into? And where was the dark, brooding edge he was supposed to have? While Colin bustled around harvesting rice, Vesper was busy showing himself off. It was his turn tonight, so as soon as Ardenia finished eating, he shifted into his beast form and walked over to her. Niall felt unbearably jealous. His turn wouldn't come until tomorrow night.
Calder rubbed his nose, eyes a little red. It was his own fault for not being good enough-he still had to wait two more days. The most miserable of all was Tobias. He was last. Before Vesper could leave, Tobias pulled out every beast core he had on him and pitifully blocked his path. Vesper's expression darkened. Gritting his teeth, he squeezed out two words. 2/3 13:07 Wed, Jan 21 Chapter 244 Praise, Pride, and Fireflies That silent "get lost" had no sound, yet it rang deafeningly loud. Tobias snapped, "What's so great about you? Why are you yelling?" Vesper's joy was impossible to ignore.
Ugh, so irritating! % +10 Free Coins Vesper stepped past Tobias and walked straight up to Ardenia, then lowered himself. Seeing that he was about to take her out, Halden quickly reminded him, "Be careful. Don't go too far." "I know." Vesper had stored up a great deal of energy. For tonight, he'd deliberately held off on breaking through. Thanks to the little female's explanations, he had Alucard's appearance firmly in mind. What Ardenia didn't know was that once a silver wolf passed Level 9, markings would appear on their face.
That was the sign of fully breaking free of their limits-officially entering the wolf king stage. Beyond Level 9, they could draw strength from moonlight itself. She was right. Looking like Alucard, he had no reason to feel inferior. On the contrary, this was an advantage none of the others had. He had a face she liked. He should be proud of it. It was a reward from the Beast God-a reward no other male possessed. With that thought, Vesper quickened his pace. Carrying her on his back, he moved through the grove. Trees on both sides slid past rapidly.
Ardenia hugged his neck and watched fireflies rise into the air around them, scattered points of light illuminating the road ahead. "It's so beautiful, Vesper." Ardenia couldn't help but be amazed. She hadn't seen anything this breathtaking in years. Fireflies-the ones everyone said were nearly extinct-now filled the sky, as if the stars themselves had fallen to the earth. 3/3 Liam Prescott
