---- Chapter 61 Feeling Jealous Vesper let out a low growl, almost like a sigh. He held her even tighter, his tail curling around Ardenia's legs and bringing them closer together. His silver hair mixed with her strands of black and red. Meanwhile, Ardenia leaned against Vesper with her eyes closed. Even in her sleep, her body still trembled slightly from time to time. Vesper smiled, visibly satisfied. He raised his hand and carefully wiped the tears off Ardenia's face. When he looked up again, the sky was already dark.

Thinking about how he had worn her out the entire afternoon, a faint sense of guilt rose in his heart. It had been his first time, and he lost control. After making sure Ardenia was sound asleep, he quietly got up, fetched some water, and began cleaning her body. But every time he moved, her brows furrowed in discomfort. He abandoned his initial plan and went to make her some food. ---- Over at the small kitchen area, Halden, Calder, and Tobias were already sitting together, all of them staring at Vesper with his so-called battle scars. Halden did not say a word, his expression dark.

He simply got up silently and went to the stove to cook. All five of them were Ardenia's mates. Sooner or later, she would be with the others too. Even if he didn't like it, at least he understood that was how things worked. Besides, he was probably not suited to be first. Vesper was silent as well. When he saw that Halden had begun cooking, he turned and went back into Ardenia's cave to get her a clean set of clothes. Seeing the underwear Julia stuck on her head the other day, he froze in place. Now, he finally understood why Halden had been so angry back then!

Was it too late for him to be angry now? When he came back out, Tobias blocked his way. Just because Halden didn't say anything didn't mean Tobias wouldn't. "You're usually the quiet one. | didn't expect you to swoop in ---- so fast." Tobias crossed his arms, glaring darkly at Vesper. Vesper scoffed coldly. "What's the matter? Weren't you the one saying you wouldn't fight or compete with the rest?" "You were the one making a fuss about breaking the bond. Why aren't you saying anything now?" Tobias retorted.

"If [hadn't said anything, then how did you find out?" "You!" Tobias' expression darkened. He had clearly underestimated him! Vesper chuckled faintly. "You should take a leaf out of Halden's book. Sooner or later, it was bound to happen." With that, he pushed Tobias aside and walked out of the cave. Worried that Ardenia would wake up and not see him, Vesper couldn't help but quicken his steps. Tobias was seething in anger, but when he saw how calm Halden seemed, he erupted at once. "Seriously? You guys sleep in the same bed every day.

Why are ---- you acting like this, you useless fool?" Upon being scolded like that, Halden was confused. "What difference does it make?" Calder said, "Of course there's a difference. At least you weren't the one yelling every day about breaking the bond. If anyone deserved to be first, it should've been you." Halden covered his mouth and coughed. Honestly, explaining it to them would take far too long... Meanwhile, Ardenia was woken by the noise outside. Ina daze, she seemed to hear someone shouting that the chief had returned. Ardenia frowned.

Her whole body ached so much she had no strength to get up. In particular, her lower region throbbed painfully. Vesper, that brute! His words had been gentle, but his actions were wild and merciless. It hurt so much she wanted to cry. Ardenia forced herself up and activated her wood-based technique, wrapping herself in it. ---- As the green light surged, the split pain finally eased a lot. But to her surprise, she realized her wood-based technique seemed to have improved. Before this, it had only been at Level 1. Now, it was at Level 2! Ardenia was overjoyed by this sudden surprise!

Green light bloomed in her palm, lighting up Vesper's cave as bright as daytime. A faint scent of grass and trees spread through the air. The green glow wrapped around her whole body, soothing every bit of discomfort away. Not only that, but Ardenia also noticed her waist seemed smaller again. Now, she wasn't even considered chubby anymore. She had curves in all the right places, giving her the perfect hourglass shape. Ardenia never liked being too skinny and fragile. This was exactly how she wanted to be. Now that she'd lost enough weight, she'd work on her face next.

With her Level 2 abilities, her skin brightened at once. Vesper returned with a fresh set of clothes just as she was admiring herself. ---- Seeing that she was awake, his face lit up, but his face flushed red when he remembered what they'd done earlier. When Ardenia saw him return, she pushed herself up from the grass bed. The beast-hide blanket slipped off her shoulders, and her smooth, bare skin instantly appeared in Vesper's sight. Vesper gulped as his breathing quickened. Now that he'd gotten a taste of it, he finally understood what it meant to crave more.

Ardenia stretched her arms toward him. "Come here and help me get dressed." "Okay," Vesper responded softly before hurrying over. Once he got close, that faint, sweet, and intimate scent on Ardenia's body rushed into his nose. His big, fluffy tail appeared again, swaying lightly as it brushed against Ardenia's back.
