---- Chapter 33 Gifts at Moon Tide Ardenia asked, "Vesper, shouldn't we go to the Moon Tide Festival?" Vesper's laughter bubbled up, surprising her. With a gentle touch, he swept her hair behind her ear. "Ardenia, have you forgotten what therians crave at the Moon Tide Festival? We're already making our own celebration." Ashower of kisses rained down, soft and warm as midsummer sun. His wolf tail brushed her leg, its playful fluff coaxing laughter from deep within her. Ardenia, swept up in the playful chaos, nudged him away with agrin. Vesper paused, observing her intently. "Did | mess up?
Or... do you not want this?" "No, that's on me." Ardenia adjusted her clothes before gently holding his face. Her tone became more serious as she spoke, "Vesper, please give mea little time." Truthfully, she couldn't quite find the courage to bare herself. Her mates might not mind, but she longed for her first time to feel right, not rushed. Maybe, one day, she'd remember ---- herself as more than the chubby and dark-skinned girl. At first, Vesper's heart stung, mistaking her hesitation for distance. Yet as soon as she spoke her truth, understanding softened his gaze. Smooch.
He leaned in, stealing a kiss that sent his heart soaring. As long as she didn't turn away, he felt more than content-he felt lucky. "Then I'll wait," he promised, his voice so earnest it was almost endearing. Ardenia beamed, wrapping him in a hug and nestling close. After a few more teasing moments, they wandered to the central square, arriving just as the festivities reached their peak. Their entrance sent a ripple of excitement through the crowd.
Vesper, towering at six feet three, was impossible to overlook -especially as he strode in, carrying a 200-pound female as if she weighed nothing at all. The funny part? The chubby female was significantly popular. ---- Once she arrived, her mates quickly gathered around her. "Ardenia, you really know how to keep your mates in line," Melissa spoke with a smile. "It's the Moon Tide Festival. Did your mates bring you gifts?" Instantly, all the females nearby leaned forward, their eyes shining with anticipation for her response. Whispers of curiosity spread through the crowd.

Most of them wondered how Ardenia, who was never known for her beauty, managed to win the devotion of so many elite mates-and maintain it. "My mates gave me their Beast Cores," Ardenia replied calmly. The crowd erupted in shock and awe. Beast cores?! Melissa stood rooted to the spot, shock rippling through her. She had brought more than a dozen cubs into the world, but only a rare few of her mates had ever entrusted her with their Beast Cores. "Ardenia, that's incredible!" she breathed, her voice filled with sincere admiration.
After all, presenting a Beast Core symbolized the ultimate, unwavering commitment to loyalty. ---- Off to the side, Niall looked conflicted. He couldn't give Ardenia his Beast Core right now. His level had plummeted, his foundation left fragile. Surrendering his Beast Core now could cause him to lose his human form. Still, he refused to let anyone outshine him. Aspark of inspiration struck: if he couldn't offer a Beast Core, he'd dazzle her with his dance instead. Niall jumped into the middle of the square, where the bonfire was burning, and the therians formed a bright circle.
The drums thundered in time with his steps. Each powerful movement unleashed the wild spirit of the Moon Tide Festival, drawing admiring glances from the females in the crowd. Vesper had already placed Ardenia down. The group assembled at the edge, clapping and smiling as they watched Niall. Suddenly, Niall reached for Ardenia's hand. His steps grew smooth and flowing, like water in motion, as his nine golden tails spread out and shimmered in the firelight. ---- "Flashy fox," Calder grumbled. Vesper glanced at him, silently agreeing. Only Halden felt uneasy. Where is Tobias?
He probably wouldn't skip the Moon Tide Festival... or would he? "Vesper, where's Tobias?" Halden asked. "I'm not sure," Vesper replied. "| haven't seen him for two days, but he wouldn't skip this." Almost as if summoned, Tobias burst onto the scene. The first thing he saw was Ardenia, dancing with infectious energy alongside Niall. He let out a cold snort and quickly hid something behind his back. A flush of embarrassment crept over Tobias as he recalled his actions from the past two days. However, Calder's eyes were sharp.
He strolled over and teased, "Molted?" Tobias nodded, grunted, and firmly tucked the item behind him. ---- Vesper noticed but chose not to comment. A gift remained a gift, and Tobias's snakeskin was valuable. It seemed he had transformed it into clothing. He mused, Ah. So that's what he'd been doing, hiding out and stitching nonstop-typical snake, never not scheming. Calder's eyes were sharp, and Tobias's eyes were equally perceptive. "That chain of yours..." Pointing at his chest, Calder raised his chin and intentionally spoke louder, "This chain? Ardenia gave it to me.
And this outfit-it matches hers too." His drawn-out tone dripped with arrogance. "Who asked about your outfit?" Tobias snapped. "Why are you yelling? | hear you perfectly. Are you trying to show off? When | was at the big pool, you were still splashing in a small tub. What are you actually bragging about?"
