They'd dug the water channel too, though the water still wasn't clear enough, and there was some dirt to haul away.

The pavilion wasn't quite finished yet-two thick beams were still missing from the top. Calder didn't really understand any of that. He sat under the porch, stringing together pearls with mermaid silk thread, planning to hang them by the windows. He also threaded together all kinds of nutshells to be hung around the pavilion. While Halden cooked, Calder wove bamboo into little tables and chairs, working on his own without bothering anyone else. Calder was really handy, and he always managed to make whatever Ardenia mentioned, putting his own spin on it.

Maybe I should make a little woven merman... Calder blushed, remembering that night under the sea when Ardenia got all mischievous with him. As he daydreamed, he added a little flower to the head of his bamboo merman. Inside the cave, Colin finally woke up. When he realized he was holding Ardenia, his mind went completely blank. Salty tears ran down his face and into her mouth. Ardenia pressed her hand to the wound in his chest, feeling a little drained. If she didn't want him to stay, even if he tore himself to shreds, it wouldn't make a difference! But he almost sacrificed his life for her...

The new bedsheets were pink, mostly because Colin's beast form was so dark, and even in human form, his skin was a deep bronze. Honestly, he looked pretty good! The pink pillows... Ardenia paused, barely stopping herself from laughing.
