---- Chapter 104 The Broken Chain Niall's eyes lit up. "You're feeding me?" "Yeah." His sharp little teeth tapped the spoon. After one mouthful of meat noodle soup, Niall smiled. This is the spoon the little female had used. Now she was feeding him with it. He felt happy. "Little female..." "Yeah?" "Are you still mad at me?" Niall felt nervous again. He knew she wasn't really angry, but what if she was? Ardenia put him on the table and finally smiled. "| was never mad. | just want this family to be okay. | want you all to be okay." After hearing that, Niall moved his nose forward.
He stuck out his tongue and licked her hand. He licked it twice, then nudged her hand up with his nose until her gentle palm rested ---- on his fluffy head. "You're okay, so I'm okay. Then we're all okay." If this home didn't have Ardenia, it would fall apart very fast. So he wanted her to be okay. He wanted Calder to be okay, too. Niall's new fox den was right next to Ardenia's cave. After he saw that she stayed, he didn't rush to change forms. He jumped off the table and gently bit the edge of her clothes. He pulled her toward his den. Ardenia's eyes hurt badly. Her body also felt weak.
Halden and Vesper were watching over Calder, so she didn't insist anymore. She bent down, picked up Niall, and walked into his fox den. Niall's den was very clean. There was a light flower scent inside. Ardenia was very sleepy. She fell down as soon as she touched the grass bed. She curled into a ball. Niall saw that she had fallen asleep. He made his beast form a bit bigger. He pulled her into his arms. His long fingers went into her hair. He gently pressed and rubbed her scalp to help ease her tiredness. ---- "Sleep. It'll be better tomorrow." Ardenia kept her eyes closed.

She reached back and pulled his hand into her arms. A soft green light wrapped around the blisters on his hand. After a short while, the wounds smoothed out. "Ardenia..." He felt a sharp ache in his chest that hit harder than his burned hand. Calder woke up the next day. Vesper saw him open his eyes and brought over a bowl of meat soup. "Can you eat by yourself?" Calder tried. He found that he couldn't lift his arm at all. He tried a few times and failed every time. His body wouldn't heal in just a day or two. Vesper wanted to feed him. He was afraid he might hurt Calder by accident.
He thought about how Ardenia looked yesterday when she worried about Calder. He sighed quietly in his heart. "I'll go get Ardenia." ---- "Vesper..." When Calder heard that Vesper was going to get Ardenia, he suddenly felt nervous. "Is she still mad?" Vesper stopped. He frowned and looked at Calder. "You... don't remember?" Calder felt dazed. Yesterday, he thought he was going to die. He vaguely saw someone rush toward him. Then he lost consciousness. After that, he didn't remember anything. Vesper felt even worse when he thought about it. "Calder, she really likes you.
Yesterday, she almost gave up her own life for you. She's not mad. Rest well. I'll go get her." Colin was very strong. Ardenia still faced him head-on. She knew she wasn't his match, but she still wanted to fight for Calder. She was the most amazing female. As she said, she was never soft or weak. Calder froze. He lay on the bed and watched Vesper leave. His heart felt like it was pounding in his chest. Was everything Vesper said true? ---- Did the little female risk her life for me? He felt useless.
"Calder..." Ardenia finally understood what it was like to run to someone you desperately wanted to see. She had worried all night. Calder finally woke up. "Ardenia." Calder called softly. It melted her heart. He tilted his head and smiled at her. His eyes curved gently. When he remembered what Vesper said, he couldn't smile anymore. His life wasn't worth much. It wasn't worth her risking herself for. "Do you feel better?" Ardenia asked. She sat by the bed. A soft green light wrapped around him. Calder stared at her without blinking. He started crying as he looked at her.
"Ardenia, am | really that useless? You had to worry about me. You even had to fight for me..." ---- "Don't say that. You're my mate. | care about you because | want to. Don't think such sad things." Her voice was gentle. Her hand on his cheek was also gentle. Calder's voice went hoarse. His eyes were very red. He sniffed and nodded hard. "But Ardenia, | broke the chain you gave me." Calder opened his hand that he had been holding tight. The chain Ardenia had put on him before lay in his palm. He had cried quietly before. Now, when he saw that the chain was broken, he cried out loud.
He cried like a child who made a mistake. Tears ran down his pretty face in messy streaks.
