Chapter 244 Chapter 244 ELEA Joanne and her group were bundled up in heavy down jackets. As soon as they stepped into the snowy mountains, huge flakes started falling thick and fast from the sky. "What's the weather like today?" someone asked. The leader said calmly to everyone, "Relax, the weather report said everything's fine." When they reached the halfway checkpoint, Joanne was still buzzing with excitement. She snapped tons of photos, at least a hundred, maybe more. Joey sidled up to her. "Joanne, can we take a picture together?" Joanne smiled warmly and nodded.
"Of course." None of them expected that right after they took the photo, someone shouted in panic, "Avalanche!" Joanne saw Joey still eagerly pulling out his phone, trying to get it on camera. Without a second thought, she grabbed his arm and bolted. "Forget the video, Joey!" she yelled. If he kept filming, he was gonna get himself killed! 952 They raced for the safety cabin, the breathtaking view from just moments ago vanishing under a blanket of snow in seconds. It was like an avalanche on fast-forward, a supercharged wave of white crashing down the mountainside.
"Did those guys get out?" someone asked, voice tense. Those people they were asking about were the first ones to yell for help. It was a couple, and they'd been moving fast, right next to where the avalanche started. They looked at each other, worried. There was no sign of them in the gloomy, cramped safety cabin. Some of the girls, scared out of their minds, just broke down and started crying. Joanne had never stared death in the eye like this before. Joanne was still shaken. She knew if they'd been any closer, or a second slower to run, she'd be the one buried under that avalanche.
She shot Joey a grave look, worry clouding her eyes. "Joey, that was way too close. If you'd kept filming, you might not have made it to safety," she said. But Joey just flashed her a smile she couldn't quite figure out. "Thanks, Joanne. Really, thanks for looking out for me," he replied. Joanne realized that if something like this happened again, Joey would still be filming everything instead of running for his life. 17:01 Thu, Jan 1 M Chapter 244 She thought maybe she'd kind of misunderstood Joey.
EA 55 vouchers He was young, but he had this way of being totally unfazed by life and death, like he'd already made peace with it. The avalanche had completely blocked the entrance, leaving Oliver on edge and helpless. He couldn't get through, and all he could do was wait for rescue. The rescue team leader said. "There's a back trail, but we'll have to take a detour to get in. Who knows what's waiting for us on the other side." Oliver stepped up without a second thought. "Count me in. I'm coming with you." The rescue team leader eyeballed the blocked entrance.
No way they'd clear it in just a couple hours. "Alright, only three of us are going in this time," he said. If too many went in, there was no telling how many would make it back out. Oliver was trying to reassure himself as he kept dialing Joanne's number, but all he got was a busy signal. Joanne's gonna be alright. She has to be,' he kept telling himself. He wouldn't let anything happen to Joanne. The rescue team leader glanced at Oliver and couldn't help but respect his nerve. You're a brave man," he said. Oliver looked up, his eyes unwavering. "My wife's in there.

I have to get her out." Turned out things inside weren't as disastrous as everyone thought, but they had to hurry. Nobody could tell if another avalanche would come crashing down any second. "Move! Head straight for the safety cabin! That's where the distress call came from. Most of them should be holed there!" the leader shouted. up in Oliver's voice was tight with worry. "Is there a girl with dark hair in there?" The leader shook his head. "The line's dead. Don't worry, Oliver. Your wife's gonna be fine." The snow was falling thick and fast, making every step a battle.
Meanwhile, inside the cabin, everyone was totally cut off, no cell signal, just snow coming down in thick, heavy flakes outside. Nobody knew if another avalanche was lurking around the corner. And no one had a clue when the rescue team would actually get there. Spending the night in this place? Joanne and the others weren't sure if they could tough it out. The cabin wasn't exactly warm. Joanne sat quietly in the corner, asking herself, 'Did I make a mistake coming here?' But not really. She was still so young, with so much left undone.
If she didn't make it through tonight, it'd be such a shame. And she wasn't ready to say goodbye just yet. 17:01 Thu, Jan 1 Chapter 244 TEA She thought of her parents and Jason. If anything happened to her, it'd be up to Jason to look after them from now on. Her grandpa was really getting old. If she didn't make it back, she just hoped he wouldn't be too sad. The shop was finally on track, and she trusted Sue could handle things solo just fine. There was Oliver.
If he found out she was dead, maybe he could finally go back home and let his family marry him off like they always wanted, without any worries. "Joanne, are you scared?" Joey asked, sitting down right beside her, their shoulders almost touching. She let out a wry laugh. "If I said I wasn't scared, I'd be lying." Joey gave her a faint smile. "Don't worry. You'll be fine." He checked his watch. Two hours had already passed.
"The rescue team should be here soon." Joanne couldn't help but ask, "Joey, aren't you scared?" 'Is it just because he's only twenty-two, that fearless age when you think nothing can hurt you?' Joanne wondered. "Nope. I've been scared for ten years straight," he replied. Joanne didn't get it. But before she could press him for details, someone started banging on the door. "Open up! We're the mountain rescue team!" someone shouted from outside. The leader flung the door open, relief flooding his face.
"You guys are finally here!" Oliver rushed in, his eyes scanning the room until he finally caught sight of Joanne huddled in the corner. He bolted over. "Joanne!" Joanne barely had time to react before Oliver crushed her in a desperate embrace. "Joanne, you scared the hell out of me," he said, his voice shaking with relief. Oliver pulled back, his face etched with worry as he checked her over from head to toe. "Are you hurt anywhere?" Joanne shook her head, still a little dazed. "No. Oliver, what are you doing here?" Oliver's eyes were deep and intense. "I came for you.
I just got here and heard there was an avalanche inside." He gripped her hand tightly, his eyes bloodshot with worry. "When we head out, stick close to me, okay?" Joanne barely remembered Joey, the boy she'd just been chatting with. It wasn't until they'd only made it a short way toward the exit that someone realized they were missing a person. "Where's Joey?" Joanne blurted out. Panic shot through Joanne. She spun around, but Joey's familiar grin was already gone from the crowd behind her. "I just saw Joey a minute ago. He said he wanted to go take some pictures of the view over there.

If you reach the exit and we're still not back, send help for us." No one wanted to leave a survivor behind. "Be careful, Chief!" someone from the group called out. Oliver gripped Joanne's hand tightly. "Do you know him?" He remembered that when he entered the cabin, Joey was sitting right next to Joanne. "Yeah, he's been really looking out for me this whole trip," Joanne said. "I really hope he's gonna be okay," Joanne murmured, her voice tinged with worry. Oliver wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. "He's gonna be alright," he said, his tone firm and reassuring.
