Chapter 107 Chapter 107 There was a loud ruckus in the middle of the night. James heard it, but he couldn't be bothered to come out. Every time he stepped out, he'd have to play judge and jury for the family. All he wanted was some peace and quiet. But his ever-troublesome son just had to make sure he was awake. "Dad, are you asleep?" Klein asked. James rolled his eyes and muttered, "Yes!" "Dad, since you're awake, come out please." The sixty-something man got out of bed, clearly annoyed. "Klein, aren't you a considerate son?" he said sarcastically. Klein looked indifferent.
"Dad, Emily messed up. She'll post a public apology online tomorrow. Please make sure she actually does it." "After all, you're the head of this family." James rolled his eyes, guessing this was probably about Klein's wife again. 'How did I never realize my son is totally whipped by his wife?' he thought. "Alright, I get it. I'll make sure she actually posts it, okay?" 'Emily's not even my real granddaughter. She should be grateful to be part of the Harris family. What more does she want? Why's she always scheming?' he grumbled to himself.
He'd definitely give her a piece of his mind tomorrow. "By the way, shouldn't we invite Whitney's family over soon? Time to get the wedding plans rolling," James said. Klein said with a faint smile, "Of course. I won't keep you up any longer." James was speechless. 'Yeah, right, not keeping me up. How did I end up with such a sly fox for a son?' he grumbled to himself. As soon as Klein left, George's face darkened. "Emily, why did you have to mess with your uncle Klein?" he snapped. Just thinking about having to publicly apologize to that bitch online tomorrow made Emily sick to her stomach.
But instead of backing her up, Carter and her adoptive parents just started criticizing her the moment troubie started. Even the strongest heart would be crushed by their harsh words. "Dad, I didn't provoke anyone! They're just making things up about me!" Emily protested. George didn't buy it for a second. He knew exactly what kind of person his daughter was. Emily had known Carter was engaged, but she deliberately tried to get close to him.
Not only did Emily wreck a potential marriage that was supposed to be perfect, but now, instead of being his daughter-in-law, Whitney ended up as his brother's wife. And it was all because of his so-called adopted daughter. "Enough with the excuses! I don't want to see you causing any more drama!" George snapped. George was the first to head back to his room, and Sabrina let out a sigh before following him. Emily's big eyes shimmered with tears, one drop still clinging to her cheek. "Carter, are you blaming me too?" she asked softly. Carter's face was cold, his mind somewhere far away.
The girl standing before him just couldn't stir any feelings in him anymore. "Get some rest. Just do what Uncle Klein said," Carter said, his voice distant. She was the one who screwed up, so now she had to deal with the consequences herself. ***** After all that drama, it was almost midnight by the time they finally got back to the villa. Just as they were about to head inside, Whitney stopped Klein and said, "Klein, thanks for having my back today." Klein's eyes burned as he stared at her fair face, his mind flashing back to how she'd clung to him, soaking wet, looking all innocent.

"Well, how are you going to thank me?" he asked, his usually clear voice suddenly husky. Under Klein's intense gaze, Whitney grew nervous and looked away. She mumbled, "Just a thank you with my mouth." Klein smirked and said, "Really?" "You're welcome. Guess I'll help myself." he replied, his voice dropping to a playful murmur. Whitney's eyes widened as Klein suddenly leaned in, his handsome face just inches from hers. Klein was totally in the mood to play, teasing and tasting her, unable to stop himself as he sucked and nibbled at her lips.
His fresh scent overwhelmed her, stealing every breath she had. Even though they'd kissed a few times now, she still couldn't quite get used to it. She pressed her hands against his chest, trying to push him away as he drew her closer, but her little struggle only made his urge to claim her burn hotter. The kiss grew deeper, hungrier, more demanding. Klein's hands locked around her slender waist, pulling her in like he wanted her to become a part of him. The heat from his body pressed against her, making her mind go fuzzy for a second. "No, we shouldn't," she whispered, her voice trembling.
Only Klein knew just how much he was losing it right now. He pulled her soft body into his arms, nuzzling into the curve of her neck, breathing hard. He nipped at her tiny, perfect earlobe, mischief glinting in his eyes. "Baby, next time, I wanna get even bolder. Is that cool with you?" Whitney, totally embarrassed and a little mad, shoved him away and bolted back to her room. Klein ran his thumb over his lips, as if he could still taste her, savoring the memory of their kiss. 'Time to pick a date and make this wedding happen,' he thought. ***** Klein had Whitney handle the apology herself.
Whitney sat at her computer, typing out a cold and blunt apology letter with a cold face. When Emily finally got her hands on the letter, she nearly lost it and wanted to rip it apart right then and there. "Grandpa, you can tell Whitney wrote this! She's so nasty. How could she smear me like this?" Emily complained. James didn't bother sugarcoating things for someone who wasn't really his granddaughter. "If you don't post it, then just head back overseas.
You spent five years abroad, and you will find it easy to get used to it." "Carter's been jetting off overseas these past five years anyway. Why not go with him? Don't even think about coming back unless I say so." As soon as James said that, George and Sabrina were scared out of their wits. They knew James was seriously pissed this time. James could put up with his own sons. But when it came to a granddaughter who wasn't even family by blood, he had zero patience. He was biased, but so what? He was the one who picked his heir, end of story. "Dad, Emily will definitely post it!
I'll film her apology video myself, I swear! You can count on it. She won't break her promise from yesterday!" Sabrina blurted out. Yeah, right. If Carter's interests were at stake, Sabrina would go against her own daughter without a second thought. Sabrina shot Emily a cold look, obvious annoyance in her eyes. "Enough with the waterworks. Dry your tears and get upstairs. We need to film your apology video." she said. Carter was long gone, already at work. Emily's heart ached.
Choking back her humiliation, she forced herself to say, "Okay, Mom." An hour later, Whitney saw the public apology she'd personally typed up go live. "Hey everyone, I'm Emily Miller. Sorry to take up your feed for a minute. Because I was jealous and petty, on the 29th I teamed up with a friend to lock Ms. Moore in the bathroom and treated her horribly. I'd like to publicly apologize to Ms. Moore. "I know what I did was totally wrong, and I'll own up to my jealousy and bad attitude. I promise I won't mess with Ms. Moore ever again.
"If I ever do this again, I deserve all the bad luck in the world..." [What's going on? Isn't she the sweet wife of Mr. Carter Harris? Who did she piss off this time?] [In this apology video, it looks like she's being held hostage. She's about to burst into tears any second.] [Who is this Ms. Moore anyway? She must have some serious backing to make Carter's girl apologize.] [Honestly, this girl is a total bitch. Didn't she get caught plagiarizing?] Whitney closed the comments section with a satisfied smile. 'The air's never felt so fresh,' she mused, feeling lighter than ever.
