Chapter 221 Jan Chapter 221 Whitney felt the hairs on her arms stand on end. She'd always thought of Lucas as just a bit of a player, and maybe kind of a jerk when it came to relationships. He was a law student from a top university, after all. No way he'd actually do something illegal, right? But she'd never thought he'd really go this far. Lucas smirked, pressing the blade against her waist. "Drive, pretty lawyer. I'm not in the mood to chat with you right outside the police station." Even through her clothes, Whitney could feel the icy edge of the blade digging into her side.
She tried to steady herself and slowly started the car. "Lucas, please, just calm down," Whitney pleaded, trying to keep her voice from shaking. "Drive!" The man had usually been gentle and polished now had a look in his eyes she'd never seen before, cold and ruthless. "Don't even think about crashing the car or taking a wrong turn. This knife doesn't care who it cuts," he warned. Lucas smirked. "Aren't you supposed to be pregnant, big-shot lawyer? You wouldn't want to die with your baby, would you?" Whitney's heart seized up. 'Don't lose it.
Just keep it together,' she forced herself to stay calm. Klein would come for her. She just needed to hold out until he realized she was missing. "Where are we going?" Whitney asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "Take the overpass to the northern suburbs. No detours. If you try anything funny, I'll dig this blade deeper into you," Lucas said, his voice cold and menacing. Whitney had no choice but to do as he said. After leaving the overpass, in a surveillance blind spot, Lucas suddenly told her to stop. Whitney's heart raced. Had he brought her here to kill her?
A white cloth flashed before her eyes and she blacked out. In the middle of a meeting, Klein reached for his phone lying face down on the table. He'd just sent Whitney a message, but she still hadn't replied after an hour. He knew things had been slow at work for her lately, so she'd usually text him back instantly, An hour without a response left Klein restless and anxious. If it weren't for all the effort Whitney had put into furthering her career at the law firm after coming back from her studies, Klein would've told her to just stay home and take care of the babies in her belly.
He respected her ambitions, but he was constantly on edge, terrified that something might happen to her. 16:55 Thu, Jan 1 Mu Chapter 221 Klein called her over and over, almost ten times, and still no answer. That was when he knew this was bad news, so he immediately called Ivan. "Mr. Harris? Whitney? Hold on, I'll check." A moment later, Ivan came back on the line. "Mr. Harris, I just checked with the team. Whitney stepped out to take care of something." Getting that update only made Klein even more uneasy. "Mr. Harris, we just found out that Whitney went to the police station earlier.
She was asking about a colleague named Valerie Garner. Apparently, Valerie has been missing for a few days," Ivan reported. "Keep checking! Go through all the surveillance footage near the station," Klein ordered, his voice tight with worry. When Whitney came to, she found her hands and feet tied up, left in the back seat. "You're awake," a cold, menacing voice came from the front. Whitney saw Lucas's cold, ruthless face in the rearview mirror. "Where are you taking me?" Lucas sneered, "Relax, you'll find out soon enough. Weren't you dying to know what happened to your bestie Valerie?

Well, you'll get to see her soon enough, together!" "Lucas! What did you do to Valerie? She never had any beef with you. Why are you hurting her?" Whitney shouted, her voice trembling with anger and fear. "Why else? That stupid woman thought I actually liked her, but I was just using her to lure you in. If she'd just played along, I could've taken care of you without any trouble," Lucas sneered. Whitney was stunned. Just as I thought, Lucas was after me from the start, she realized, a cold dread settling in her chest.
"Lucas, have we met before?" Whitney asked in a gentle voice, careful enough not to provoke him. "No, we haven't. Who cares? If it wasn't for you, none of this would've happened to her. So what if we never met? You still have to die!" Lucas spat, his voice dripping with venom. 'Her?' Whitney wondered, her mind racing. She thought of a few people, but almost without hesitation, she asked, "Are you talking about Emily Miller?" "You're not even worthy to speak her name!" Lucas snapped, his voice sharp with rage.
He slammed on the brakes and whipped around to glare at Whitney, his eyes burning with rage. 'It's all about Emily after all, Whitney thought, a cold dread settling in her chest. The car screeched to a halt, and Whitney was thrown forward by the force. Her forehead crashed into the back of the front seat, and a wave of dizziness hit her. "Emily was such a sweet, innocent girl. It's all your fault she's gone!" Lucas shouted, his face twisted with fury. His eyes were bloodshot as he glared at Whitney, looking like he could rip her to shreds right then and there.
Whitney bit her lips, forcing herself to stay conscious. "Lucas, you're a law student, a top university grad. You know she broke the law and got locked up. That has nothing to do with me." 16:55 Thu, Jan 1 M 4145 Chapter 221 "Nothing to do with you? Don't give me that! You only got where you are because of Klein Harris, clinging to a man for everything! You had Klein set Emily up! This is all your fault!" Lucas shouted. "This man's totally lost it, Whitney thought, a wave of helplessness crashing over her. "Trying to reason with him is pointless.
It's like talking to a wall, Whitney realized, frustration and fear twisting inside her. "Alright, just take it easy. Kidnapping me isn't going to solve anything. This is all about getting Emily out, isn't it?" Whitney said, trying to reason with him and keep her voice steady. Lucas's eyebrows twitched. "Whitney, don't play games with me. If anyone knows she's never getting out, it's you." "If I hadn't studied law, maybe I'd fall for your tricks. But I'm not some clueless fool. Behave yourself, sit back there, and don't even think about moving!" Lucas barked.
With that, Lucas fired up the engine and kept driving. Whitney felt a wave of despair crash over her. 'All that law school for nothing,' she thought, bitter and defeated. She stared out at the fields outside, watching them get more and more barren, and her heart just kept getting heavier. She happened to spot a helicopter in the sky. Her heart clenched. 'Could that be him?' she wondered, hope sparking to life for a split second. ***** "Mr. Harris, look, that's Mrs. Harris's car!" one of the team called out from the helicopter.
Klein sat in the helicopter, a heavy feeling settling in his chest. "It's a straight stretch, no exits or side roads. Our team still hasn't caught up," one of the crew said. "But Mr. Harris, there's nowhere safe to land up ahead! If we try to force, a landing now, it's risky," the pilot warned. Klein, already geared up, said, "Fly over those trees on the slope. I'll fast-rope down." "Mr. Harris, that's way too risky! Only special forces can pull off something like that," one of the bodyguards blurted out. Klein shot the bodyguard a look. "I practiced this back in college.
Just keep flying ahead and find me a spot to land." "I'm going down myself," Klein said, not taking no for an answer. He couldn't just stand by, powerless, and watch his wife die. He had to save Whitney, whatever it might take. The look on Klein's face was so intense, so serious, that nobody dared say another word. The whole team just fell silent under his pressure. He had no idea if Whitney was even alive in that car right now. He had to go down there himself. There was no other choice. Inside the car, Whitney's heart was in her throat, beating so fast she could barely breathe.
16:55 Thu, Jan 1 M Chapter 221 TITA "Lucas, how did you know her?" Whitney asked, her voice shaky as she tried to stall for time. Lucas glanced at her in the rearview mirror and let out a cold laugh. "Now you want to know? Facing death and that's what you ask?" he sneered. "I was one of the kids the Miller family helped out. If Emily hadn't pleaded with her father, my life wouldn't be what it is now," Lucas said, his voice low and bitter. Even if it was only for a short time, Lucas had never forgotten it. Not long after, the Miller family collapsed, and Emily's loving parents both died.
So Lucas swore to himself that when he grew up, he'd find a way to repay the Miller family for their kindness. But when Lucas thought he could finally pay her back, that bright, beautiful girl ended up in prison. Whitney forced a smile, though her heart ached. "So that's how it is. That's really a pity." "What do you mean by that?" Lucas turned to glare at her, completely ignoring the road ahead. Just as Whitney glanced up, she saw a man descending from above, like he'd just dropped out of the clouds. Her heart shot straight into her throat. 'Is he hurt?
Why would he do something so crazy?' Whitney's mind spun with worry and disbelief. 田 AD Comment Send gift No Ads 16:55 Thu, Jan 1 M admin
