Chapter 100 Klein left behind a total mess and strode off calmly, not even glancing back. "Dad, look what your youngest son did!" Sabrina snapped, both furious and anxious. James rubbed his temples and said, "Stop yelling. Call 911!" Emily felt a chill running down her spine as she stared at Carter, his head drenched in blood. Her legs shook uncontrollably from shock. 'Is Uncle Klein really standing up for Whitney like this?' Emily thought, her mind reeling. 'He actually went so far for Whitney, even turning on his own nephew!' she thought in disbelief.
"We can't call 911!" Emily suddenly blurted out. "Mom, Dad, if an ambulance shows up at our house right now, who knows what the media will say?" she added. George raised his eyebrows and said, "Emily, are you really just going to stand by and watch Carter die?" "Call 911 now! And grab some towels!" he ordered. Lena was just standing there, not really able to help with anything. But she was honestly surprised by how Emily had just reacted. In the end, the ambulance finally showed up. When the paramedics saw Carter with blood streaming down his head, they nearly jumped out of their skin.
"What happened here? Did he get beaten up?" one of them asked. James cleared his throat and said, "No, he just bumped his head on a vase by accident." The paramedic gave Carter a look like he couldn't believe it. 'Seriously? Even rich folks have idiots in the family?' he thought. The paramedics quickly bandaged Carter up to stop the bleeding, hooked him up to an IV, and loaded him into the ambulance. "It's okay. His vitals are stable right now. We'll need to do some scans to check things out.
Someone from the family should ride with him in the ambulance, and the rest of you can drive to the hospital," the paramedic said. As Carter's mother, Sabrina was worried about her son. "I'll go! I'm his mother!" she insisted. Emily was a second late to react and met George's annoyed stare. "Dad, I was just in shock. Can I ride with him in the ambulance?" Emily asked. Sabrina gave her daughter a dismissive look and said, "Forget it, you're always so clumsy. Just drive over! I'll wait for you at the hospital!" Getting married and landing in the hospital on his wedding night?
What a honeymoon disaster! Of course Lena had to tag along. She was family, after all. But honestly, she couldn't stop squealing inside about how cool Uncle Klein had just been. [Whit, guess what Uncle Klein just did!] Whitney was curious. [Uncle Klein just got back, and Carter started talking trash. Next thing you know, they were brawling!] Whitney was stunned. [Is he okay?] [I'm asking about your uncle.] [He already left. He's probably almost home by now.] Whitney had just finished reading the texts when she heard the front door opening.
She'd just slipped into her comfy clothes and she quickly ran to the door, barefoot. Klein frowned a little. "Why aren't you wearing shoes?" Taking off his coat, he walked right over and scooped her up in his arms. "You girls need to keep warm. Tomorrow, I'll have someone carpet the floor in the house." Whitney wrapped her arms around his neck and shook her head hard. "No, no, I was just in a hurry." she said. Klein smirked, his eyes full of mischief. "What's the rush? Were you waiting for me?" "Yeah," she replied.

Klein carried her over to the couch, wrapped his arms around her, and settled her onto his lap. Whitney tried to wriggle free, but he kept her locked in his arms. "Don't move." he said. "Why were you waiting for me?" Klein pressed, not letting it go. Whitney looked away and said, "It's nothing. I just heard you got into some kind of fight just now." Klein's eyes dimmed, a flicker of surprise in them. 'Wait, is she actually worried about me?' he thought. "Yeah. Did Lena tell you?" he asked.
Whitney didn't really want to admit it, but honestly, Lena was the only one at Moore Manor who would keep her in the loop. His arm, which had been wrapped around her waist, suddenly let go. "Relax, I held back. The wound just looks scary, but he'll be fine," Klein reassured her. "I just taught him a lesson for mouthing off," he added. 'If he dares mess with her again, I won't go so easy on him next time, Klein thought. Whitney couldn't quite put her finger on it, but the man who'd just been so gentle suddenly seemned distant, his mood shifting in an instant.
She studied him anxiously and asked, "You... you're not hurt, are you?" "Me?" Klein looked at her, a flash of surprise in his eyes. 'Is she actually worried about me?' Klein thought. "You did fight, right? You're really okay?" Whitney pressed, her concern obvious. "Fight?" Klein repeated, a little amused. He pinched her soft cheek playfully and said, "Babe, I beat him up. How could I possibly get hurt?" ***** At the hospital, Carter's head was practically mummified in bandages. But just like Klein said, it was really just a bunch of scrapes and bruises.
He'd already had two CT scans in the past month, and both times, nothing serious turned up. The doctor couldn't help but remind, "Look, CT scans have radiation. You really shouldn't overdo it." He'd said Carter was fine, but his family insisted it anyway. 'Money can't buy common sense. Just because you're loaded doesn't mean you should treat the hospital as a spa place,' the doctor thought, rolling his eyes. "Sorry, doctor, we were just too nervous," Sabrina nodded, flustered. "He got five stitches, so no washing his hair for a few days and keep the wound dry.
If it's not too much trouble, just swing by the hospital every day to get the bandage changed. We'll take the stitches out in ten days," the doctor said. With that, the doctor went off to deal with other patients. "Carter, why don't you stay at the hospital tonight, just to be on the safe side?" Sabrina urged, worry clear in her voice. Կ George backed her up, sounding firm, "Listen to your mom, Carter. It's best if you stay here. Emily, go take care of the admission paperwork for him." But Carter immediately protested, "No way! I'm not staying.
I want to go home!" George figured Carter was probably looking to get back at Klein. "Emily, take your mom out and grab some water," George said, sending them away. Once they were gone, George turned to Carter and said, "Carter, if you're thinking about leaving just to get back at your Uncle Klein, you'd better drop the idea." Carter kept his eyes down as he clenched his fists, his frustration barely contained. "You're no match for your uncle Klein. Did you see your grandpa's attitude just now? In this family, he sides. with your Uncle Klein, no questions asked," George said, his tone firm.
"Dad, why?" Carter demanded, resentment clear in his voice. George said with a sneer, "Because your grandpa chose him as his heir." "Because he's the one with real ability, the one who can take our family higher. You and Emily are married now. Just focus on building your own life together. That's what matters most." "Your grandpa doesn't allow any family infighting. Is that clear?" George said, leaving no room for argument. No matter how unwilling Carter was, he could only bow to reality. He relaxed his grip and muttered, "I see." "Alright, this whole mess won't end up in the news.
I'll have someone keep an eye on the media. In a few years, when you take over from me, all my shares will go to you," George said, his voice steady. But Carter couldn't help thinking, 'What good are Dad's shares anyway? In Uncle Klein's eyes, they barely mean a thing.' Carter, who'd just been bristling like a young lion, finally settled down. "Mom, there's no need for me to stay in the hospital. Let's just head back home. The family doctor can patch me up. It's just a scratch," Carter insisted. "A scratch? Your head was bleeding all over! How is this a little injury?" Sabrina cried.
Carter scowled and said, "Mom, even the doctor said it's just a minor thing!" Sabrina tried to argue, but George gave her a look, and she had to bite her tongue. ***** Oliver was scrolling through his phone, grinning. "Check this out. My buddy at the hospital just sent me this." Dustin leaned in and asked, "Is that the groom?" "You bet," Oliver replied. "He got hurt?" Eric asked, curious. "Any guesses who did this to him?" Oliver teased.
Dustin smirked and said, "Are you saying Klein was the one who beat him up?" Oliver shrugged and said, "Who knows?" "Hey Oliver, when are you going to break up with your celebrity girlfriend?" Eric teased. Oliver pretended to take a swing at him and said, "Are you trying to curse me?" "Oh, quit acting like you're so devoted! Look, the news about you hooking up with that heiress last night is blowing up. It's gone viral!" Eric said, grinning.
