Chapter 165 Klein couldn't keep a straight face for more than two seconds. Whenever Whitney's heart was about to overflow with emotion, Klein instantly turned into a ravenous wolf, like he was starving for her. He would devour her whole. The next morning, Whitney woke up with a sore waist and couldn't help but take out her frustration on her breakfast, cutting her food with vengeance. Martin sensed the tension in the air and quickly made himself scarce. "Klein, are you mad or something?" Whitney snapped. Klein kept a straight face. "No, I'm not." "I'm just madly in love with you." he added.
Whitney just stared, dumbfounded. 'Seriously, why did suddenly say that?' she thought. She put down her fork and said, "I'm full! I'm heading to work!" Klein licked his lips and let out a chuckle. "Yeah, I'm full too." "Last night, I had my fill," he added with a smirk. Whitney rolled her eyes and just stormed off. She was driving herself today. No way in hell was she getting in Klein's car. ** Lena's wedding was coming up soon, and Joanne was lucky enough to be a bridesmaid again. The three girls met up for a little get-together, and Joanne felt a bit sentimental.
"Now that you're both getting married, you won't just leave me out, right?" Joanne asked a little wistfully. Whitney and Lena both rolled their eyes at her. "Please! Who'd ever ignore our superstar?" "Seriously, they can't stop talking about how amazing you are in that new show, even in a supporting role," Whitney chimed in. "Joanne, you're blowing up! Look, now we have to book a private room just to grab a meal with you!" Lena joked. Joanne couldn't help but laugh. "Come on, it's just a few extra fans. But I'm really happy." At least all her hard work hadn't gone to waste.
Lena looked a bit lost. "You guys all have your own thing going on, your own passions. I'm kinda jealous, honestly." Joanne tilted her head and asked, "Don't you have anything you're into, Lena?" Lena grinned. "Does goofing off count?" She was the baby of the group. After she graduated last year, she told herself she deserved a graduation trip. Little did she know that trip would end up lasting an entire year. Everyone around her seemed to have found something they loved and were working hard for, but Lena just felt lost about what she wanted. She wasn't into working at all.
She was all about having fun, and ambition just wasn't her thing. With her savings, she could easily fund her lifestyle for life without ever relying on her family. Whitney gave Lena a playful flick on the forehead. "Alright, Miss Harris, stop overthinking it. If you're really that bored, why not just open a B&B for fun?" Lena's eyes lit up. She jumped. "That's genius!" "Whit, you're the best! You're my lifesaver!" Lena cheered. Lena was hugging, kissing, and playfully nibbling on Whitney, when she suddenly caught a glimpse of a hickey hiding under Whitney's collar. "Oops, my bad!
Forgot you're Uncle Klein's girl now," Lena teased. Guess she was off-limits for kisses now. Whitney blushed and threatened to hit her playfully, "You're asking for it!" Lena dodged her with a grin. "Sorry, Auntie Whit! Please forgive me!" "By the way, who's Dustin's best man this time?" Whitney asked, finally putting her hand down. Joanne narrowed her eyes. "Lena, don't tell me it's that guy again?" Lena looked totally lost. Honestly, she had no idea. ***** Meanwhile, Oliver was going all in, throwing serious cash at Dustin to win him over.

"3 million, sound good enough for you, Dustin?" Oliver teased. Dustin was finally getting a taste of what Klein had to put up with back in the day. "Alright, I'll do it, if I really have to," Dustin replied, acting all reluctant. Oliver was practically fuming. "Alright, I'll toss in another 2 million. Just make sure your wife gives me the bouquet, deal?" Dustin smirked. "You know that bouquet's got some serious magic, right? But you gotta fight for it, no handouts!" "If you just have it delivered straight to you, it won't work its magic," he added with a wink. Oliver was speechless.
"Fine!" he finally relented. He'd just have to figure something out. All his buddies were already spoken for, most of them hitched. No way anyone else would be scrambling to snatch that bouquet from him. He just didn't buy it! On the day of the wedding, Joanne spotted that guy in the groomsmen lineup again and pursed her lips. 'Man, he's like a bad penny, always turning up,' Joanne thought. Whitney watched as Dustin got down on one knee to propose to Joanne during the wedding procession, and she felt tears pricking at her eyes. Klein wrapped his arm around her and gave her shoulder a squeeze.
"Feeling emotional? Looks like you've got one more person calling you Auntie Whit now." ...Seriously?' Whitney thought, a little embarrassed. Dustin had never thought that marrying a Harris girl would mean he'd get demoted in the family pecking order whenever Klein was around. At the wedding, a man walked up to the reception desk and dropped off a gift box. "This is for the bride. Let her open it herself," he said. The staff member at the desk looked up at him. "Sure, sir. May I have your name?" He just smiled.
"No need, the name's inside." But after leaving the gift, he headed away from the banquet hall. The receptionist gave him another curious glance. 'Man, that guy's weird,' he thought. Yvonne walked over. "Looks like almost everyone's here, right?" Even though she wasn't really on board with her daughter getting married so quickly, she could tell that Dustin really cared about Lena. At least in this marriage, her daughter wasn't the one getting the short end of the stick. That was all a mother could ask for.
Back in the wedding hall, as the couple stood center stage exchanging rings, Yvonne couldn't help but wipe away a tear. No matter how much she and her daughter had bickered or argued, Lena was still her little girl. There was no mother who didn't worry about her daughter. All she wished was for Lena to find real happiness. When it was finally time for the bouquet toss, Oliver was practically bouncing with excitement. He'd greased everyone's palms, tossing out millions just to make sure he'd be the one to snag that lucky bouquet. But Lena must've put way too much force into it.
Oliver had the landing spot all figured out, but the bouquet shot off in the wrong direction and ended up flying way past him. Joanne wasn't even trying to catch the bouquet. She was standing at the very edge of the crowd, barely paying attention, and even glanced at her phone. But the bouquet just dropped straight from above and smacked right into her arms. Joanne froze. Oliver was speechless. Klein and Whitney were sitting in the audience, and Klein couldn't help but burst out laughing. "Haha, looks like someone's big plan just went totally off the rails," he joked.
Joanne, clutching the bouquet like it was a hot potato, plopped down next to Whitney. Whitney grinned, "Looks like you're next to walk down the aisle, huh?" Oliver was sitting diagonally across from her, his eyes locked on her. It didn't matter who caught it, because the result would be the same. Oliver was grinning to himself, thinking, 'Well, this just means we're destined to get back together, and maybe even get married!' Klein smiled and sent Oliver a message. [What are you so happy about?] Oliver was speechless. [Why do you care?
Can't I just be happy?] [Yeah, your ex is about to get married. Guess all you can do now is fake a smile.] 'Does Klein ever say anything nice?' Oliver grumbled to himself. 'Is he trying to piss me off on purpose or what?' By the end of the wedding, Lena was totally wiped out. She'd never realized getting married could be so exhausting. Her face was basically stuck in a permanent smile. She'd made a deal with herself not to cry today, and mission accomplished. She hadn't shed a single tear. Dustin, meanwhile, was feeling a little salty. 'Not even a single tear for me, huh?
Guess Lena's not that into me after all, he grumbled. They'd planned to hit up the after-party, but Lena was too wiped out, so they had to call it off. All she wanted was to go home, flop down, and count her wedding gifts. Dustin didn't push it, of course, and went home with her. As Lena was sorting through her pile of wedding gifts, she spotted a fancy gift box and paused. "Who sent this?" she asked. "No idea. Some guy said the name's inside," the receptionist replied. Lena didn't think much of it. She grabbed all her bags and hopped in the car with Dustin.
Whitney was just about to head home when she glanced at her phone, and her eyes instantly lit up. "Klein, change of plans! I'm not going home tonight. My cousin just got back from abroad!"
