Chapter 141 Chapter 141 Whitney's eyes grew misty as she blinked. "You... found out?" she said. Whitney had picked up the car from the dealership herself. The dual-facing dashcam inside had only been replaced a week ago. Before heading out, she'd even called up Marco to make sure he'd be waiting at the spot. Klein wasn't dumb. There were plenty of things he could uncover with barely any effort. 62 ER 65 vouchers "The footage from your dashcam has already been handed over to the police.
Turns out one of the dealership men messed with it behind the scenes, and they're questioning him right now," Klein said. "I checked the truck, but didn't find anything off about it," he added. "Since you're awake now, I'm heading back to the office. April will be here to look after you. If you need anything, just call Martin. He will take care of anything with the cops," Klein said. After making sure everything was taken care of, Klein got up to leave. Whitney's heart skipped a beat in panic. 'Klein's really pissed off,' Whitney thought.
"Don't go," Whitney blurted out, grabbing his strong wrist with her right hand. "Honey, please don't go." For the first time, she called him honey in broad daylight, her voice soft and sweet, almost coquettish. Klein's heart softened for a split second. But as soon as he remembered what Whitney had done, his face turned cold again. 'If I don't give her a wake-up call, she's just going to keep being careless with herself, Klein thought. "Let go!" Klein snapped, his voice harsh. Whitney's nose prickled, and his icy indifference left her frozen in place.
"Okay," she whispered, sounding hurt as she let go of his hand. Klein caught sight of Whitney's IV backing up with blood on her soft hand, and he felt both frustrated and helpless at the same time. "The blood's backing up. Didn't you see that?" Klein said, his tone a little harsh. Still, his hands were gentle as he switched off the IV and called a nurse over to fix it. "Hey, careful with your IV hand, okay? Try not to move it too much," the nurse said softly to Whitney.
17:39 Wed, Dec 24 Chapter 141 62 La 55 youchers Once the nurse was gone, Klein gave Whitney's cheek a gentle pinch, his voice a mix of frustration and concern, "Have you learnt your lesson? Are you still thinking about doing something reckless next time?" Whitney's tears suddenly fell onto the back of his hand. The heat of her tears threw him off, making him flustered. "Why are you crying..." Klein's grip softened, turning into a gentle caress as his thumb stroked her soft cheek. "Why are you crying, huh?" Whitney hadn't meant to cry.
It was just that Klein's voice had been so cold and harsh, and she felt like a pampered child, her heart swelling with hurt and grievance, feeling so wronged that she could barely stand it. She couldn't help bursting into tears. Klein just couldn't do anything about her. He gently pulled her into his arm, keeping an eye on the IV in her hand to make sure she was okay. 'If her IV backs up again, she might cry louder,' Klein thought. "Alright, alright, it's my fault. Don't cry, honey. If you really want to cry, save it for tonight when we're in bed, okay?" Klein said, trying to comfort her.
His way of comforting her was way too flirty. Whitney pinched his waist, making him cry out, "You ungrateful girl! You're the one who screwed up, and I'm the one trying to comfort you. Stop it!" Whitney smiled. She genuinely felt pampered by Klein. "Klein, do you like me?" Whitney suddenly blurted out. 'I've wanted to ask him for so long, but I was never sure... What if I'm just overthinking it?' Whitney thought, her heart pounding. Klein's feelings for her were like a spring breeze, brushing against her face, making her feel warm all over. He could be a wolf, wild and possessive.
But he was also her rock, someone she could always rely on. His love was sudden yet so natural, a kind of devotion exclusive for her. 'So this is what it feels like to be pampered,' Whitney thought, her heart blooming with warmth. Klein went stiff, cleared his throat awkwardly, and muttered, "Yeah." "Quit fooling around," Klein said, trying to sound stern but couldn't hide the hint of indulgence in his voice. "Keep it up and just wait till we get home. I'll make you pay for it," he added, half teasing, half threatening. Klein's threat totally worked.

Whitney gave him a little playful shove and retreated under the covers. 17:39 Wed, Dec 24 Chapter 141 1X 55 vouchers Klein, left hanging by Whitney's sudden retreat, nearly burst out laughing in disbelief. "What are you hiding for? Where do you think you can hide from me?" he chuckled. Whitney blinked up at him, her eyes clear and innocent. "Okay, I admit it. It's all my fault." I literally just got into a car accident, and this crazy man is thinking about sex?' Whitney thought, rolling her eyes. Whitney poked her head out from under the covers, her tone suddenly turning serious.
"Enough joking around. Do you know who's behind all this?" she asked, her eyes searching Klein's face for answers. Whitney's eyes went cold, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Yeah, I know." he said seriously. "Who else could it be but Laura?" Whitney scoffed, her tone cold. After Laura called April, she gave Whitney a heads-up right away. Laura had a two-pronged plan. First, she arranged for Whitney to get into a car accident, and then she would send April to spike Whitney's soup while she was hospitalized after the accident. Laura never made a move unless she was absolutely sure she'd win.
She started with just a tiny bit of the drug, slowly upping the dose. All it would take was one final trigger, and Whitney would die just like her mother. Just thinking about Laura using the same dirty tricks on her that she'd once pulled on her mother, Whitney clenched her teeth in fury. Klein listened as Whitney made it all sound so easy, like it was no big deal, but his right hand just wouldn't stop shaking. 'What if even one part of Whit's scheme had gone sideways?' Klein thought, a chill running down his spine.
'Would that mean I'd lose her forever?' The idea nearly knocked the wind out of him. He didn't even dare to think about how bad things could've gotten, and just the thought was enough to make his heart skip a beat in terror. He couldn't face such serious consequences. "Whitney Moore," Klein called her by her full name. Whitney paused, caught off guard for a moment. Whitney pursed her lips. She'd just managed to calm him down, but now he looked like he was about to lose his temper all over again. And this time, it didn't look like he'd be so easy to handle.
Klein bit his lips and asked, "When did you find out?" Whitney's long lashes fluttered as she whispered, "The night before the wedding." 17:39 Wed, Dec 24 Chapter 141 : Klein took a deep breath. He'd even gone to see her the night before the wedding. She'd had plenty of chances to come clean, but she'd never meant to tell him. "I'm heading out. There's actually something urgent at work," Klein said, keeping his tone cool. 61 55 vouchers This time, he didn't give her a chance to reach for his wrist. He left without hesitating, not even looking back.
'Did I really do it wrong?' Whitney thought to herself, a wave of doubt and guilt washing over her as she watched Klein walk away. ***** As soon as Lena heard Whitney got into a car accident, she rushed straight to the hospital. "Whit, you scared me half to death! When Uncle Klein told me you were in the hospital, I nearly had a heart attack," Lena blurted out, her voice full of worry. Whitney couldn't help but smile bitterly. Even when Klein was mad at her, he still made sure someone was here to keep her company. She couldn't even put her feelings into words right now.
"Lena, I think I made your Uncle Klein very mad at me," Whit mumbled, sounding a little pitiful. "Huh?" Lena blinked, a little puzzled. "But when Uncle Klein called me, he sounded totally normal, not mad at all." "Well, what happened between you two?" Lena asked, her eyes full of curiosity. "I'm sure it's Uncle Klein who messed up! Want me to snitch to Grandpa for you? He'll totally give Uncle Klein a hard time!" "No, please don't!" Whitney pleaded, her voice soft and a little desperate.
"It's all my fault." After Whitney finished explaining, Lena just sat there in silence for a bit, looking like she was trying to process the information. "I can't believe your stepmother is this evil. She's a vicious bitch! Honestly, she should be locked up for good!" Lena finally exploded, her voice dripping with outrage and disbelief. But that all went down more than twenty years ago,and there was nobody left who could back it up. Just a few words from April weren't nearly enough to get Laura thrown in jail. Whitney had never wanted to risk herself.
But after she found out the truth about her mother's death, there was no way she could just sit back and be a victim. She had played on April's guilt, baiting Laura to finally show her true colors, step by step. First, she got her father to divorce Laura to really piss her off, and then forced Laura to take the bait and make her move. By getting into that crash herself, Whitney could finally pin attempted murder on Laura with solid evidence. 17:39 Wed, Dec 24 Chapter 141 61 E55 vouchers Lena felt sorry for her. "Hey, don't be mad at Uncle Klein, okay?
Honestly, I can kind of see why he's so mad." she said. "Think about it. Uncle Klein is crazy about you. But when you run into trouble, your first instinct isn't to tell him. Instead, you go off plotting and scheming on your own, completely leaving him out of it, and even putting yourself at risk," Lena said, her tone gentle but serious. "Of course Uncle Klein is worried sick about you, and he probably feels like you don't love him, or that you don't believe he's capable of helping you.
Honestly, if you were in his shoes, you'd see he's hurting too," Lena added, trying to help Whitney see things from her uncle's perspective. 'Really?' Whitney wondered. She honestly wasn't thinking that much when she set all this up. She just tried to trouble Klein as little as possible. She really didn't want to bother him unless she had to. She'd already leaned on him for so much. She didn't want to be a burden any more than she already was. "Whit, you keep acting like Uncle Klein's just some outsider! That's why he's so mad at you!" Lena said, sounding genuinely worried.
Whitney bit her lip, looking a little lost. "Oh... how am I supposed to calm him down?" Lena's eyes sparkled with mischief. "I've got an idea!" "Just do this, then this, and then that!" Lena winked, gesturing mysteriously as she laid out her secret plan. Whitney blushed badly. "Wait, aren't you single, Lena?" she teased, unable to hold back a laugh. Lena shrugged like it was no big deal. "So what? I'm indeed single, but I've got all the book smarts when it comes to this stuff! Just do what I say.
Trust me, Uncle Klein will be eating out of your hand in no time!" AD Comment Send gift No Ads 17:39 Wed, Dec 24 Dex Morgan Dex Morgan works to elevate each story with clean writing, emotional balance, and thoughtful flow for readers.
