Chapter 447 Chapter 448 Chapter 448 Teresa was fiddling with her phone, totally distracted. 55 vouchers She'd been at a dinner party earlier, and the smell of alcohol still clung to her. She figured she'd wash off the smell and freshen up a bit. It was getting late, and after a quick wash, she could finally get some rest. With her leg still bothering her, she just gave herself a quick wipe down in the bathroom. When she came out, she started her skincare routine in front of the mirror, but she just couldn't focus.
Normally, her skincare routine only took ten minutes, but tonight, it stretched to over twenty. She couldn't stop thinking about Troy the whole time. No matter how much she mulled it over, the worry just wouldn't go away. So, she grabbed her phone again and started scrolling through the news online, looking for anything about Troy. No matter how much she scrolled, it was all the same-old gossip about Troy's wild nights, him showing up at exclusive venues with a different girl every time. Other than that, nothing else really came up about him.
Reading those stories left Teresa feeling unsettled inside. Just as she was about to put her phone down, a news notification popped up at the top of her browser: [The CEO of the Logan Group and the brilliant doctor-perfect match, head over heels in love.] Teresa didn't even feel like clicking on it. Back then, she would've definitely clicked in, maybe even scrolled through every related article. But now, she just slowly put her phone down. After finishing her skincare routine, Teresa plopped down on her bed with her phone. She lay there, messing around on her phone for a while.
Even though she was getting sleepy, she stubbornly resisted, not wanting to fall asleep just yet. It wasn't until her phone dropped right onto her face that Teresa finally realized maybe it was time to call it a night. Before finally drifting off, she scrolled through all her apps one last time, but there was still nothing from Troy. To keep herself from spiraling, she simply switched her phone to silent mode. After that, she tucked her phone away in the nightstand drawer. That way, whether a call or a message came in, Teresa wouldn't even notice.
With her phone out of sight, Teresa finally managed to get some sleep. But in the middle of the night, Teresa jerked awake. 555 vouchers She was covered in cold sweat, her hands searching blindly for her phone, but she just couldn't find it. Finally, she came to her senses and remembered she'd stashed it in the nightstand drawer. She rolled over and fished it out. Aside from a couple of browser notifications, her phone was totally blank- no WhatsApp messages from Troy, no missed calls, nothing at all. Seeing that, Teresa felt a sudden, inexplicable tightness in her chest.
In that instant, a wave of disappointment crashed over her, leaving her feeling hollow inside. She flipped her phone face down on the bed and stared up at the ceiling, tears silently rolling down her cheeks. Thinking about Troy's situation, Teresa felt a wave of worry for him, afraid he might be in trouble or something bad could happen. After wrestling with her thoughts, she finally stopped holding back. She picked up her phone and sent Troy a message: "Are you... done for the night? Are you okay?" Once the message was sent, Teresa immediately wanted to delete it.

But when she glanced at the clock-past one in the morning-she thought, 'If I take it back now, it'll just look weird, like I'm making a fuss out of nothing.' After a moment's hesitation, she left the message as it was. She kept checking her phone all the way until two a.m., but Troy still hadn't messaged her back. 'Is he really not going to reply?' Teresa thought, her heart sinking a little more with every passing minute. Sylvia was on day shift today, and she'd only been scheduled for two surgeries. She was supposed to get off early in the afternoon.
But just as she was about to clock out, an emergency case came in-a uterine fibroid, and the patient was hemorrhaging and needed surgery right away. By the time that surgery was finally over, it was already evening. Seeing how late it was, Sylvia stuck around to have dinner with the other doctors and nurses on duty before finally saying she was heading out. Sylvia just couldn't catch a break. She'd barely finished washing up and changed out of her scrubs when the Emergency Department called again-another emergency C-section needed her right away.
The doctor on duty was tied up with patients in the inpatient ward, so once again, it was up to Sylvia to handle the surgery. After all that running around, Sylvia only got off work in the early hours of the morning. By the time she finally left the hospital, it was almost one in the morning. The hospital wasn't far from her place, so Sylvia figured she'd just walk home. The streets were deserted, just a thick layer of snow and the glow of streetlights. It was freezing outside, so Sylvia pulled her coat tighter around herself.
She couldn't wait to get home, take a hot shower, and start plotting how to make Troy hers. Just thinking about Troy made her walk a little faster. But as she rounded a side alley, Sylvia suddenly caught a rustling sound coming from behind a flower bed. She instinctively turned, her gaze wary as she stared toward the noise. Sylvia called out, "Who's there?" No one answered, but she spotted a shadowy figure-and on the fresh white snow, there was a shocking splash of red. Sylvia instinctively paused, her heart skipping a beat as she realized someone might be hurt.
She asked tentatively, keeping her voice low, "Hey, do you need any help?" She cautiously crept forward, still speaking softly. But the shadowy figure remained completely silent, not making a sound. As she edged closer, Sylvia felt an odd sense of familiarity about the shadowy figure. Hesitantly, she called out in a low, uncertain voice, "Troy?" For some reason, she couldn't help but feel in her gut that this dark shape was Troy. But the figure still didn't make a sound. Sylvia didn't hesitate anymore.
She crouched down and gave the shadowy figure leaning against the flower bed a tentative push. In the next instant, Troy wobbled and went down hard in the snow. When Sylvia realized it really was Troy, her heart leapt with a mix of excitement and panic. Sylvia tried to prop Troy up, wanting him to lean against her for support. But just then, Troy's eyes snapped open. His face was deathly pale as he looked at Sylvia coldly and said, "Don't touch me." Even though he pushed her away, Sylvia couldn't just leave him there-seeing the blood on him, she reached out to steady him again.
Vouche Troy didn't even look at her. He tried to get up, but as soon as he put in the effort, he just ended up crashing back down to the ground. Sylvia rushed over to help, her voice anxious as she yelled, "Am I really that unbearable to you? Won't you even let me help you?" Troy didn't say anything. He gently pushed Sylvia away, obviously not wanting her near him. But Sylvia grabbed his arm again, refusing to back down. "Troy, just admit it-we're bound by fate. I saved you once before, and now I'm here to save you again. There's something between us that can't be broken, no matter what.
We're inseparable, you know-you're stuck with me. Tonight, I'm not letting you go. I have to save you, whether you want it or not..." Her face streaked with tears, Sylvia tried to help Troy to his feet, but he stayed completely still. Sylvia could feel his rejection. She turned to look at him, and in his dark eyes, she saw a strange light flickering. After a long pause, Troy suddenly let out a dry chuckle, prying Sylvia's hand off him one finger at a time.
Then, his voice hoarse and cold, he asked, "Did I ever ask you to save me?" Stunned, Sylvia blurted out, "Troy, don't you even care if you live or die?" The pristine white snow was splattered with blood-a sight so shocking it would make anyone's heart race. Troy's laughter grew deeper, almost bitter. "Tonight, my life-only Teresa can save me." With that, he forced himself upright. The hospital was right there, practically within reach, but instead of heading for it, he staggered off toward the curb. He flagged down a cab.
Once inside, he blurted out the address to the driver, "Take me to Sullivan Mansion." Sylvia chased after him, crying out, "Troy, are you really playing with your life for her? Is she really that special? Is she worth it?" But all she got in response was the fading sound of the car as it disappeared into the night. She stood there, her cheeks wet with tears. Gradually, Sylvia clenched her fists, breaking down as she screamed, "Teresa, why? Why did you have to steal Hector from me-and now you want to take Troy too? Why?
