Chapter 427 Chapter 428 Troy carried Teresa in one arm, his other hand gripping his cane. Once they were out of the hospital, he gently set her down in the passenger seat of his car. But after settling Teresa in, Troy didn't straighten up. He kept one foot on the door frame and one hand braced against the headrest, his whole body leaning in so close that he completely enveloped her in his embrace, his presence overwhelming her small frame. He lowered his head, his eyes sharp and intense as they locked onto hers. His voice was low, with a hint of frustration.

"Why didn't you call me?" He was questioning her, backing her into a corner, trying to keep her under his control. They were so close that Teresa could hear the pounding of Troy's heart. When she met his gaze, she could see the frustration simmering in his eyes. Teresa turned away, showing him only the side of her face. She said quietly, "I forgot." It was a flimsy excuse, but Troy let it slide. He kept his eyes fixed on the side of her face for a long moment, then suddenly reached out his hand.

"Give me your phone." Teresa paused in surprise, then turned to face him, her eyes wide with confusion. "What are you trying to do?" Troy didn't want to explain. "Just hand it over." Teresa was clearly reluctant, staying still and refusing to respond to Troy. When she didn't hand over her phone, Troy started to reach over, ready to search for it himself. But just as his hand was about to touch her, Teresa quickly shielded herself and blurted out, "Troy, don't touch me! I'll give it to you." Seeing her panicked and at a loss, Troy's lips curled into a faint smirk.

He straightened up a little, then replied with a half-smile, "Alright." Teresa grudgingly handed her phone over to Troy, clearly not happy about it. Once he had the phone, Troy asked, "Password?" Teresa answered, "My birthday." Troy didn't miss a beat-he entered the password right away, and the phone unlocked instantly. Teresa looked at him, a bit taken aback, as he unlocked her phone without a moment's hesitation. Troy kept his head down, scrolling through her phone. Teresa didn't ask what he was doing-she just watched him in quiet amazement.

He was strikingly handsome, with a straight, chiseled nose and thin lips that curved into a subtle smile at the corners. When he lowered his gaze, his long lashes brushed down, and there was something inexplicably captivating about him. After a moment, he pulled out his own phone, tapped away for a bit, then handed Teresa's phone back to her. "All done." Teresa took her phone, still a little confused. "What did you do?" Troy put his phone away, raising an eyebrow at her. "See for yourself." Teresa glanced down at her phone and realized Troy had synced their locations.

Now, he could see where she was whenever he wanted-and she could see where he was, too. Teresa looked up at him, her eyes wide in surprise. "Troy, you..." Troy smiled, guiding her hand to his chest, then flashed a playful grin. "If I didn't do this, how else could I make sure I never lose you?" In that moment, Teresa caught a faint whiff of perfume on Troy. After spending months with him, she instantly knew that wasn't the scent he usually wore. She quickly pulled her hand back, her expression frosty as she glared at him. "Move back a bit.

Your cologne is way too strong." Troy picked up on the hidden meaning in her words and raised both hands in mock surrender. "Babe, just so you know, I didn't go looking for anyone else. People just can't help but try to get close to me. When I'm out, there's always someone trying to hit on me-what can I do?" He sounded so sure of himself, like he had a perfectly reasonable explanation. Teresa got his point and didn't bother saying anything else. But then, Troy tilted her chin up with his finger, leaned in, and his breath was hot against her skin.

"Babe, if you don't keep a guy like me close, are you really gonna let me start calling someone else 'babe'?" Teresa didn't try to pull away from Troy's hand. She just looked at him, her tone cool and steady. "If I get to be with you, I'm lucky. If not, that's just fate." Troy raised an eyebrow, grinning. "So you're really that chill about it?" Teresa didn't say a word, just stared back at him, her gaze stubborn and unyielding. After a long moment, Troy just shook his head, a helpless smile on his lips. "Forget it.

Sooner or later, I'm going to end up yours anyway." With that, he let go of her chin. Once he straightened up, he closed the passenger door. Inside the car, Teresa turned to look at Troy. He just radiated confidence and charm with every move, and she felt a pang of insecurity. 'He's such an amazing guy... How could I ever measure up to someone like him?' Teresa thought to herself. Just as Troy closed the car door, he spotted Leo helping Wendy out of the hospital. "Troy, I'll take Wendy home, you take Teresa.

Text me when you get there, and when we're free, let's grab a bite together," Leo called out. Troy nodded. "Sure thing. Drive safe, and let me know when you arrive." Leo flashed a smile. "Will do. I'm heading out." Troy grinned. "Alright." After watching Leo and Wendy drive off, Troy finally slid into the driver's seat. But once he was inside, he just sat there, not starting the car. Teresa turned to him, puzzled. "Aren't we going home?" Troy glanced over at her. "Nope." With that, he drove off. And sure enough, he wasn't heading toward the Sullivan Mansion.

Teresa panicked and asked, "Troy, where are you taking me?" Troy said, "I've got some stuff to handle at work. Just come with me for a bit-once I'm done, I'll take you home." Since it was about work, Teresa kept quiet. She didn't want to make him put work aside just for her. When she didn't respond, Troy glanced over at her as they stopped at a red light and asked gently, "Would you mind coming with me?" Seeing he was waiting for her answer, Teresa nodded. "Okay." Seeing her agree without a second thought, Troy smiled again. 'He's already in my heart, Teresa thought to herself.

Soon, the car pulled into the parking lot of Troy's company. As Teresa got out, she glanced up at the building towering over her-it was imposing and lavish, smack dab in the center of the city. A place like this in such a prime spot must cost a small fortune, and with Troy's company here, he was just as loaded as Charles. Teresa was propping herself up with her cane, and when Troy tried to pick her up, she stopped him. "Not here, Troy. This is your company-let's keep it professional." Hearing her say that, it finally hit Troy. He went quiet and nodded, agreeing with her.

But as they walked into the company lobby together, they still caught the attention of quite a few people. People started greeting Troy left and right. "Hello, Mr. Hamilton." By the time they got inside, no less than ten people had already greeted Troy. Once they stepped into the lobby, one of the braver staffers glanced at Teresa and couldn't help asking, "Mr. Hamilton, is she your wife?" Troy almost wanted to praise the guy for being sharp, but he held his tongue at the last second. After thinking it over, he just said, "Just a friend." Better to nip any gossip in the bud before it started.

It wasn't that he didn't want to claim Teresa as his own-she was still married to Charles, and with all those nosy coworkers around, he didn't want to bring her any unnecessary trouble. 岀 AD Comment Send gift No Ads Editorial board Editorial Board: Our editorial team works behind the scenes to refine each chapter, maintain consistency, and deliver the best reading experience.
