Chapter 439 Chapter 440 555 vouchers Chapter 440 Teresa had been waiting for hours for Troy to text her, but there was still no word from him. He'd promised he'd let her know he was safe. But now it was almost eleven, and there was still nothing. When Wendy called, Teresa felt her hopes crash into disappointment. 'I really thought Troy would message me by now, she thought, unable to shake off the sinking feeling in her chest. Teresa didn't bother pretending. "Yeah, a bit," she replied. Wendy knew Teresa way too well.
When Teresa said "a bit," it usually meant things were a lot worse than she was admitting. So Wendy asked, sounding worried, "What's wrong? Is something bothering you?" Teresa let out a long sigh before finally asking, "Wendy, what kind of person do you think Troy is?" Without even noticing, she'd started to put Troy in a really important place in her heart. Wendy paused for a moment when Teresa brought up Troy. "Honestly, I don't know him that well-mostly just rumors from other people. But I do know Leo is a great guy: gentle, funny, refined, and modest.
If Leo is willing to be friends with Troy, then Troy can't be a bad person. Maybe he's just as good a person as Mr. Gilbert," Wendy said. Teresa didn't argue with Wendy. Instead, she asked, "Wendy, do you think I deserve Mr. Hamilton?" Wendy answered without hesitation, "You do." But Teresa still couldn't shake off her doubts. She asked again, sounding a little anxious, "Really?" "Absolutely," Wendy replied. Teresa was quiet for a moment, then shook her head, deciding to stop overthinking it. When she snapped out of it, she suddenly remembered Wendy had called her.
"Did you call me for something?" she asked, wondering if something was up. "Yeah, I want you to come with me to a party," Wendy replied. "It's an official invite from the video app I work with. They're the reason I'm earning anything at all, so I really can't skip this." Teresa didn't even hesitate. "Sure, I'll go with you," she said. After chatting for a bit, they hung up. Teresa instinctively opened her WhatsApp chat with Troy, but there was still nothing from him. She even switched networks a couple of times, just in case the connection was acting up and she missed 55 vouchers something.
But in the end, the result was the same-no message from Troy. Figuring she wasn't going to hear from him tonight, Teresa got up and closed the window. The moment Teresa hit the bed, her phone started ringing. She grabbed it without thinking, and just as she expected, it was Troy calling. She picked up in a flash. "Hello?" Anyone could hear the excitement in her voice. Troy's gentle voice came through the phone. "Hey, are you still up?" Teresa's eyes went red in an instant.
She shook her head, then quickly added, "I was just getting ready to sleep." Troy caught the change in her voice, his tone full of concern. "Were you crying?" Teresa did her best to sound normal. "No, I'm good. You're alright, right?" Troy chuckled softly. "Me? What could possibly happen to me? Relax, if anything happens, it's to someone else, not me." Even though he always said stuff like that, Teresa knew he wasn't invincible. She still couldn't help worrying about him. "Really?" "Really. Don't worry about me," Troy assured her.

After Teresa mumbled an "okay," Troy added, "Take care of yourself, eat something, get some sleep. I'll be there to see you soon." "Troy," Teresa blurted out before he could hang up, realizing the call was probably about to end. "Yeah?" Troy replied softly. "What are you going to do?" Teresa asked. Troy just laughed softly, leaving her hanging without an answer. After a moment, Troy finally said, "Go to bed, it's really late now." Teresa didn't ask any more questions. "Okay," she replied. "Good girl. Good night," Troy said softly. After a short wait, Troy hung up.
Teresa held her phone, feeling a lot less anxious now. At peace, she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. Early the next morning, Teresa was woken up by Monica knocking on her door. "Aunt Teresa, I'm heading to school! Open up, I want a hug before I go!" Teresa opened her eyes, and the first thing on her mind was worrying about Troy's safety. She forced herself to push those thoughts aside and called out to Monica, "Monica, just come in." As soon as she finished speaking, Monica pushed the door open and came in.
She was all bundled two little braids, a mask, a scarf, and gloves-looking all fluffy and absolutely adorable. Teresa sat up in bed, leaning against the headboard. Monica came over, climbed up, and lay down beside her. up, with She grabbed Teresa's arm and gave it a little shake, giving her best cute face. "Aunt Teresa, I really want a kitten, but Dad won't let me. Will you buy me one, please?" Teresa reached out and gently ruffled Monica's hair, then asked seriously, "Monica, Aunt Teresa wants to ask you-having a kitten means you need to be with it all the time and take care of it.
You're still in school. Do you really have time for that?" Monica hung her head, silent. Teresa wrapped her in a gentle hug and softly said, "When you're older and really want a kitten, you can have one. But right now, you're still little. If you can't look after a little life, then Aunt Teresa says let's wait for now, okay?" Monica puffed up her cheeks, looking pretty grumpy. But after a moment, she gave in, all sweet and obedient. "Since you say so, Aunt Teresa, I won't get a kitten. I'm off to school now. Make sure you rest up at home, okay?
When I get back, can you teach me to draw?" Teresa smiled. "Sure, I promise." With her backpack bouncing behind her, Monica skipped out of the room. Teresa watched her cheerful little figure disappear, and out of nowhere, Yolanda came to mind. Just thinking about her daughter made Teresa's heart ache. Yolanda was her own flesh and blood, but now she was someone else's precious girl. Teresa shook her head, forcing herself to stop thinking about Yolanda. But as soon as she grabbed her phone, Troy popped into her head.
There was a WhatsApp notification-her heart skipped, thinking it might be him, but it turned out to be just a bunch of unrelated stuff. Frustrated, Teresa went ahead and turned off notifications for all those group chats and business accounts. Troy was a public figure, after all. If anything really happened to him, it'd be headline news in no time. With that thought, she opened up Twitter, hoping for some clue. But there was nothing about Troy trending. Instead, she saw rumors on Twitter that Charles and Naomi were about to tie the knot.
The top post was all about how they'd supposedly met each other's folks, with a couple of grainy pics as proof. Even though the photos were blurry, anyone who knew Charles could spot him right away. Teresa didn't bother reading much more. She'd seen this coming for a long time. Now that Charles was set to marry Naomi, it was only a matter of time before the divorce went through. Just as Teresa was lost in thought, her phone suddenly rang. She glanced down and saw it was a call from Richard at Logan Manor. Remembering how Richard had looked out for her in the past, Teresa picked up.
"Hello, Grandpa." Richard's voice came through, cold and commanding. "Come to Logan Manor. I have something to discuss with you." Teresa wasn't too keen on the idea. "Grandpa, can't you just tell me over the phone?" But Richard didn't answer directly. "You'll know once you get here," he said, keeping her in suspense. He thought that, just like in the past, Teresa would just do whatever he said. But this time, Teresa just flatly refused. "I can't come." Richard's voice boomed through the phone. "What? So now you don't respect me at all?" Teresa shot back, "My leg's broken.
I can't make it." Even though she was giving an explanation, her tone was pretty blunt-almost rude. AD Comment Send gift No Ads I Editorial board Editorial Board: Our editorial team works behind the scenes to refine each chapter, maintain consistency, and deliver the best reading experience.
