Chapter 423 Chapter 424 55 vouchers Chapter 424 Roselyn was standing at the entrance of Joyacre Villa when Yolanda suddenly charged at her. She lost her footing and almost went tumbling down the stairs. Luckily, there was a pillar nearby-her reflexes kicked in and she grabbed it just in time, barely saving herself from a nasty fall.
Once she regained her balance, Roselyn stared at Yolanda, her face full of shock, and demanded sharply, "Yolanda, who taught you to speak to your elders like that?" Yolanda stood in front of Naomi, like a little adult, her face flushed with anger as she glared at Roselyn and shouted, "You hit Miss Naomi! You're a wicked mother-in-law, a mean old witch!" Roselyn grew even more furious. "Tell me, was it Teresa who taught you to say that?" Yolanda stretched out her little hands to shield Naomi, snapping at Roselyn, "You're just like my evil mom!
Both of you are vicious, both of you are bad people, and you're both totally unbearable!" Roselyn's face went ghostly pale with rage. "You..." Unable to hold back her anger, she turned to Charles and snapped, "Are you really going to let Teresa lead your daughter astray like this?" Charles didn't pay Roselyn any mind. He looked at Naomi and Yolanda and said, "Let's go home." Seeing that Charles wasn't angry at all and was defending Yolanda, Roselyn couldn't help but yell, "Charles, do you even know what you're doing? You're spoiling her!" Charles treated Roselyn's words like air.
He took Yolanda's hand, Yolanda grabbed Naomi's, and the three of them headed into Joyacre Villa together. Once they were inside, Charles turned around and gently closed the door behind them. As the door closed, Yolanda gave Roselyn a mocking look and mouthed, "Old witch." Roselyn stepped forward, instinctively trying to follow them inside, but just as she reached the entrance, the door closed right in her face. She barely managed to pull her head back in time-if she'd been a second slower, she would've gotten her head caught in the door. Roselyn had no choice but to step back.
Furious, she pounded on the door and shouted, "Charles, open this door!" But all she got in response was endless silence. Charles led Yolanda and Naomi back into the living room of Joyacre Villa, without saying a word. Naomi didn't let go of Yolanda's hand, her gaze fixed on Charles's back. Naomi said softly, "Charles, thank you for you and Yolanda standing up for me out there." Charles didn't turn around, but answered, "If she ever gives you trouble, just let me know. You're with me now, and no one's allowed to bully you." Even though Naomi couldn't see his face, her heart warmed instantly.
Naomi smiled softly and replied, "Mm, okay." Just then, Yolanda gave Naomi's hand a gentle tug. Naomi crouched down, gently holding Yolanda's arms, and asked, "Yolanda, what's wrong?" Yolanda stepped closer, cupping Naomi's cheeks with her tiny hands. She said softly, "Miss Naomi, Grandma is just like my mom-they're both not nice at all. So don't pay any attention to what they say, okay? Dad and I will always have your back." With that, Yolanda moved forward and gave Naomi a hug. Naomi hugged her back, her voice gentle.

"Alright, Miss Naomi will do exactly as you say, Yolanda." While Naomi and Yolanda were having their moment downstairs, Charles had already slipped away upstairs. Charles stepped into his study and dropped into the chair at his desk. He slid the keyboard aside and pulled out the court summons hidden underneath. Staring at the charges spelled out on the paper, Charles felt a chill run through him for reasons he couldn't quite name. His fingers tightened around the summons before he even realized it. The door to the study opened and Naomi stepped inside.
Charles sat there with a dark look on his face, clutching something tightly in his hand. Naomi knew right away he was mad. But she didn't let his bad mood bother her. Naomi walked up to the desk and asked in a gentle voice, "Charles, do you want to go build a snowman with me?" Charles relaxed his grip on the summons a bit and looked up at Naomi. After a long moment, he nodded slightly and said, "Alright." Seeing him agree, Naomi quickly added, "It's been snowing a ton lately! Yolanda's been wanting to go build a snowman with us." Charles stood up. "Yeah, let's go.
I'll join you guys." Naomi was caught off guard for a moment-Charles suddenly felt like a stranger to her. So the three of them made their way out to the little courtyard. Yolanda was having the time of her life, totally unfazed by the cold. She plopped down on the ground and started building a snowman, with Naomi sitting beside her and joining in the fun. Charles stood quietly to the side, watching the two of them laugh and play. Watching them, he couldn't help but feel his heart melt a little. But even as he watched them, he still had the summons clenched in his hand.
After thinking for a bit, he picked up the summons and gave it another look. He couldn't help but wonder if maybe it was time to finally let it all go. Right now, with his daughter and Naomi by his side, wasn't this already everything he could ask for? And Teresa... Just thinking about her, Charles couldn't even put his feelings into words. But maybe, just maybe, it really was time to end things. The next morning, Teresa woke up just as the sun was rising. She glanced at the clock-it was barely past seven, and Yvonne was already up and about.
After getting ready, Teresa headed downstairs and was surprised to see Wendy there. When Wendy saw Teresa coming downstairs, she got up excitedly, her face lighting up. "Teresa, you're awake!" Teresa slowly made her way over to the couch, leaning on her cane, and asked in surprise, "Wendy, what brings you here?" Wendy quickly came over to steady her and said, "Since you're stuck at home recovering and I've got nothing going on, I thought I'd drop by and check on you." Teresa gave her a gentle smile. "Thanks! Come on, make yourself comfortable." But Wendy waved her hand.
"Nope, I'm not sitting. Let's get you out of here, you must be bored out of your mind staying in all day." Teresa instinctively replied, "No, actually, Troy-" She was about to say that Troy took her out for walks every day, but thought better of it and left it unsaid. Wendy totally caught on, but she just let it slide. "Oh please, it's totally different when I'm the one hanging out with you!
Come on, let's get out of here, do a little shopping, and treat ourselves to some fabulous new clothes!" Teresa smiled and agreed, "Okay!" After a quick breakfast, Wendy wheeled Teresa out of the Sullivan Mansion. The snow was still coming down hard outside, but that couldn't stop these two from hitting the shops. They hopped in a cab and headed straight for the mall. Once they arrived, they just wandered aimlessly, checking out whatever caught their eye. Whenever Wendy spotted something cute, she'd pick up one or two.
Before long, a bunch of little shopping bags had piled up behind Teresa's wheelchair. As they walked into a women's clothing store, Teresa suddenly heard Yolanda's voice. "Miss Naomi, that looks gorgeous on you! You look just like a fairy descended to earth. Look, Dad's got his eyes glued to you!" Teresa thought she must be imagining things, but when she looked up, she really did see Charles, Yolanda, and Naomi together-the three of them, like a picture-perfect family. Naomi was standing in front of the dressing mirror, turning from side to side.
In a casual glance, she suddenly noticed Teresa and Wendy's figures reflected in the mirror. Teresa turned her face away, not wanting to meet their eyes, and said to Wendy, "Wendy, let's just go." Wendy saw Charles and his crew too, but she retorted, "Why should we leave? It's not like we're the ones sneaking around." With that, Wendy wheeled Teresa straight into the shop, confidently browsing through the racks for clothes.
