Chapter 430 Chapter 431 Melanie stood in shock at the office doorway, completely stunned as she witnessed everything unfolding inside. She instinctively slapped a hand over her mouth, and the big bag she was carrying dropped to the floor in an instant, landing with a heavy thud. The crash of the bag echoed through the hallway, but inside the office, Teresa and Troy were so lost in each other that they didn't notice a thing. Right now, their world was just the two of them-no one else existed. Tears spilled from Melanie's eyes, falling one after another like pearls snapping off a broken string.
She clenched her fingers so tightly her knuckles turned white, her face contorted with fury as she hissed under her breath, "Teresa, just you wait. I won't let you get away with this. Never." After muttering those words, Melanie roughly wiped at her tears and ran off in a hurry. Meanwhile, inside the office, Teresa gave in to her feelings and didn't push Troy away. After that passionate kiss, Troy pulled back.
He held Teresa close, pressing his forehead to hers, his voice husky and magnetic as he asked, "Did you like my kiss?" Teresa's face was burning red, so hot it felt like it might burst into flames. Right now, she felt reckless, like she'd thrown all caution to the wind. She just buried her face in the crook of Troy's neck, refusing to answer and letting silence speak for her. Her silence said it all, and Troy got the message loud and clear. Back then, she would've flat-out denied it. But now, she didn't say a word. Troy couldn't help but chuckle, keeping quiet.
He just dropped a light kiss on Teresa's forehead. He could've pushed for more, but he held back. This was the office-their first time shouldn't be here. Troy reached out to help fix Teresa's clothes, but she thought he was about to get handsy again. She quickly crossed her arms over herself and blurted, "Hey, what are you up to now, Troy?" Seeing the wary look in her eyes, Troy just laughed even harder and teased, "Why, are you scared of me now?" Teresa stammered, "I...
I'm not." Seeing how she was clearly nervous but still trying to act tough, Troy grinned and said, "Not scared, really?" He stretched out his words, then suddenly teased, "Want to go again?" Teresa's face turned scarlet in an instant, and she instinctively protested, "Troy, let me go!" She tried to get up, but Troy easily held both her hands with one of his, using his free hand to gently smooth her messy hair. When she realized he was just fixing her clothes, Teresa finally let her guard down.
Once he was done, Troy released her hands and grinned, "I've already stolen all your kisses-are you still going to say you won't marry me?" Teresa's face turned even redder. She shoved Troy hard and snapped, "You jerk!" She jumped off him and hurried over to the desk across the room, sitting down quickly. Once she sat down, Teresa buried her face in her arms, keeping her head down so Troy couldn't see her expression. Right now, her face was burning-she felt like her cheeks were on fire. Seeing her like this, Troy guessed she was feeling shy, so he decided to stop teasing her.

He tidied up the papers on the desk, then got up and came around behind Teresa. Resting his hand gently on her shoulder, he said, "Teresa, let's grab some dinner. It's getting late." Teresa stayed quiet for a while before finally replying in a small voice, "Mm-hmm." After she spoke, she slowly stood up, but still didn't look at Troy. Troy noticed her cheeks were still a little flushed, but he didn't say anything. He didn't want to scare her off and make her retreat back into her shell.
When they left the office, the rush hour was already over, but there were still plenty of people around who saw them together. Even though Troy kept saying Teresa was just a friend, anyone with half a brain could tell they were way more than that. People might gossip about it behind their backs, but nobody dared to say anything out loud. When they got to the restaurant, Troy picked a table by the window. From there, they could look down at the snowy scene outside and the sea of lights twinkling in the distance.
Troy slid the menu over to Teresa and said, "Teresa, why don't you Right now, he didn't even dare to use any of those sweet pet names. order?" At that moment, Troy suddenly felt a pang of regret. Maybe he shouldn't have done what he did to Teresa in the office. Teresa took the menu and just ordered a salad, not picking anything else. Troy looked over what she ordered and couldn't help but furrow his brows. Then, taking matters into his own hands, he added a few more dishes to the order. The moment they finished ordering, Charles walked in, holding Naomi's hand.
Charles handed his umbrella to the waiter, then led Naomi to a table on the other side of the restaurant, also by the window. But there was an aisle between them, so they weren't sitting side by side. Troy could see them, and they could see him too. Teresa, with her back to the entrance, had no idea Charles and Naomi had walked in. Once the food was served, Teresa kept her head down, picking at her salad. Suddenly, she heard Charles's voice from a few tables behind: "Naomi, once we're done eating, let's head to your place.
I've already got everything we need for the visit." Naomi answered sweetly, "Okay!" Just from that exchange, Teresa could tell right away-Charles was heading to Ternton to meet Naomi's folks. They'd come this far, but Charles still hadn't filed for divorce. She just couldn't wrap her head around it, no matter how hard she tried.
Troy could tell Teresa had overheard Charles and Naomi's conversation, so to distract her, he gently took her hand from the table and said, "Will you come with me somewhere tomorrow?" Teresa looked a little puzzled and asked, "Where are we going?" Troy answered mysteriously, "You'll find out tomorrow." Teresa insisted, "Tell me first, otherwise I don't know if I'll go." Troy knew exactly what she was worried about, and he had no intention of hiding anything. He told her straight up, "We're going to my grandma's grave.
Tomorrow's the anniversary of her passing." When Teresa heard they were going to the cemetery, she instinctively backed out. "I don't think I should go..." Even though part of her wanted to say yes, the fact that she hadn't divorced yet kept nagging at her. But Troy didn't give her a chance to refuse. "I'll pick you up at 8:30 tomorrow." Teresa tried to protest again, but when she looked up, all she saw in Troy's eyes was unwavering resolve. She finally relented and said, "Okay, fine." Even though they weren't talking loud, Charles could still overhear some of it from his seat.
He caught Troy inviting Teresa to go with him to pay respects at his grandma's grave. For Troy to bring Teresa along for something so personal, it was clear-they were basically a thing now. Just thinking about that, Charles's hands tightened around his fork and knife before he even noticed. He usually loved Western food, but right now, he just didn't have any appetite at all. When Naomi glanced up and saw Charles looking off, she couldn't have cared less about what was going on with him. What really had her stumped was Troy.
He was such a catch, such a great guy-why was he treating Teresa like she was the only girl in the world? She thought, 'Teresa's been married, she's got a kid... What's so special about her? Why would Troy fall for someone like that?' 'Seriously, am I not better than Teresa in every way?' By the time dinner was over, Charles was sulking, and Naomi was seething with jealousy. Meanwhile, Teresa and Troy finished their meal. With people they didn't like nearby, neither of them felt like hanging around. Once they were done, Troy led Teresa out of the restaurant.
As they left, they had to pass by Charles and Naomi's table. When they walked past, Teresa and Troy didn't spare them a glance, acting as if they were total strangers. Out of the corner of his eye, Charles kept watching Teresa, realizing she really had changed. She used to be so unremarkable to him, but now, he was surprised to find she had a few qualities that suddenly made her shine. There was a new pride in her, a sense of indifference, and an aloofness that he'd never noticed before. Naomi stared at Troy-he was such a catch, so full of charm and energy.
Yet somehow, he was into Teresa, a woman she saw as nothing but damaged goods. She couldn't stand it. 'Why her and not me? What does she have that I don't?' Naomi fumed, jealousy twisting inside her.
