Chapter 426 Chapter 427 Charles and Naomi stopped in their tracks, their eyes glued to Teresa. After carrying Wendy into the back seat, Finn turned to Teresa again. "Ms. Sullivan, you..." He reached out, not sure if he should pick her up or just offer a hand. Noticing his awkwardness, Teresa said, "I can get in by myself." She made her way to the car with her crutches, and Finn naturally took her crutches from her as she got in. Once Teresa was settled, Finn placed her crutches in the passenger seat. Finn never once glanced at Charles and Naomi as the car drove off.
Right now, all he could think about was how worried he was that Wendy's injuries might get even worse. As soon as the car was moving, Finn floored it, speeding down the road. Naomi watched Finn fussing over Wendy and Teresa, and she couldn't help but feel a little uneasy inside. When she glanced at Charles, his face looked even gloomier than hers. She couldn't help but ask Charles, "When did Finn start getting so friendly with them?" Charles stayed silent, his eyes locked on the direction where Finn's car had vanished. Finn's words from that day in the parking lot still echoed in his mind.
Seeing Charles stay silent, Yolanda snorted in disdain. "Anyone who's close to Mom isn't a good person anyway. I'm not going to talk to Finn anymore." Naomi knew Charles was already in a bad mood, and with Yolanda saying stuff like that, he'd only get even more pissed off. So, Naomi quickly corrected her. "Yolanda, don't talk like that. Finn is your dad's good friend, so he'll always be a good uncle to you." But Yolanda just huffed, muttering under her breath, "He's not a good uncle at all." Charles stood there for a moment before finally saying, "Let's go.
We're heading back to Joyacre Villa." With that, he walked straight to the car, not even glancing back at Yolanda and Naomi. Naomi felt a pang of disappointment, but she put on a brave face and took Yolanda's hand. "Come on, let's go home." Naomi sat in the back seat so she could keep Yolanda company. As soon as they got in the car, Yolanda leaned against the window, watching the scenery outside. Naomi, feeling a bit resentful about how attentive Finn was to Teresa and Wendy, sent him a message: [How's Jason been lately? And you? How are you doing?
When are we going to grab a meal together?] Back then, Naomi was always the center of attention in Charles's world. But now, Finn didn't seem to have her back anymore. And Jason-sure, he'd always liked her, but Naomi just loved the attention and the chase, never really wanting to be with him for real. Charles used to be so good to her, always thoughtful, but now, one day he's nice, the next he's cold. She knew she wouldn't be able to rest easy until she finally married Charles. She didn't get a reply to her message, not even after they got back to Joyacre Villa.
Naomi couldn't help but think, 'Maybe it's just that we haven't seen each other much lately, and we're all starting to drift apart. She thought, 'If only things could go back to the way they were.' Hospital, ER. Wendy was rushed into the ER, and the doctors immediately started treating her wounds. Outside the treatment room, Teresa waited anxiously by the door with her crutches, while Finn stood close by. Seeing how worn out Teresa looked, Finn couldn't help but say, "Ms. Sullivan, why don't you take a seat? Wendy's wound care is probably going to take a bit." Teresa shook her head.

"No, it's okay. I'll wait right here for her." Finn saw how serious Teresa's injury was and asked, "How did you hurt your leg?" Teresa froze for a second, then turned to Finn and said quietly, "It was Yolanda. She pushed me." Finn was at a loss for words. "That..." Finn couldn't believe what he was hearing. Still, he wondered, 'Could Teresa really be telling the truth?' Teresa could tell Finn didn't believe her, so she didn't try to explain herself.
What caught Teresa off guard was Finn suddenly asking, genuinely concerned, "How's your leg doing?" Teresa was taken aback for a second, but nodded. "Yes, I'm much better now." Finn's gaze grew complicated, a mix of worry and something unspoken. "Ms. Sullivan, actually, about Charles..." He trailed off, leaving the rest unsaid. Teresa looked at him, frowning. "Seriously. Finn, what are you trying to say?" After a moment of silence, Finn finally sighed, sounding totally defeated. "Charles has always had way more on his plate than most people.
His family, his career-pretty much everything was mapped out for him by hist parents and grandpa. He missed out on a lot of love growing up, so he's always been kind of distant, and honestly, he has no clue how to treat a woman. But look, he married you, you guys have Yolanda-he's got to care about you, at least a little." Teresa listened, but her heart was completely numb. If this was the old her, she'd be daydreaming, getting her hopes up over every little word. But now, she didn't buy a single word of it anymore. She couldn't help but snort, raising an eyebrow.
"Oh, really?" Finn knew Teresa wasn't buying it, but he pressed on. "Yeah, maybe he just hasn't figured out his own feelings yet." Teresa scoffed, even more amused. "Mr. Shaw, you've been his friend for years. You know exactly how he treats Naomi, right? You say he doesn't understand feelings, doesn't know how to treat a woman-so what about Naomi? How does he treat her?" Finn fell silent, at a loss for words. After a pause, Finn finally replied, sounding helpless. "Yeah, I know all that, but..." Teresa didn't let him finish. "So, Mr.
Shaw, what do you expect me to do about it?" Finn dropped his gaze, voice low. "I'll try to convince him to divorce you." Teresa blurted out, her voice on the edge. "Convince him of what? To treat me better? To stop being so close with Naomi?" Finn's voice was low, almost lost. "No, I'm going to talk him into divorcing you." Teresa just stared at Finn, frozen. After a moment, she slowly turned away, her eyes red and her voice barely audible. "Thank you." Finn didn't say another word. Soon enough, Wendy came out of the ER. Finn rushed over to steady her.
"Wendy, are you okay now?" Wendy quietly pulled her hand back, walked over to Teresa, and propped herself against the wall. She glanced 255 Vouchers up at Finn, her tone icy. "Thanks for the ride to the hospital. How much was the fare? I'll transfer you ten times whatever it cost." Finn froze, caught off guard, his eyes wide with surprise. "You... you really think I did this for the money?" Wendy's face was pale, but her gaze was serious and resolute. "I don't care why you did it. I've already told you -don't come looking for me again. We're done. Not even friends." Finn's voice caught.
"Wendy..." He drew out her name, his voice lingering as he reached out, trying to touch her cheek. But Wendy quickly pushed his hand aside. "Don't touch me!" Finn stood there, stunned, sorrow clouding his eyes. Just then, two figures walked in through the ER doors. Teresa instinctively glanced over and saw Troy and Leo coming in. Leo walked over, nudged Finn out of the way, and steadied Wendy. "Are you feeling any better?" Wendy didn't push him away. She just nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine now." Troy marched over to Teresa, his face stormy and tight-lipped-he was clearly pissed off.
Teresa was bracing herself on her crutches, her injured leg suspended in the air. Most of her weight pressed down on the crutches, and the skin at the base of her thumbs was already broken and bleeding. Without saying a word, Troy swept Teresa up with one arm and slung both crutches over the other. Since the moment he walked in, Troy didn't so much as look at Finn. He carried Teresa and headed straight out of the ER, not bothering to say a single word to Finn. A bunch of young people in the ER couldn't help fangirling when they saw Finn. "Wow, he's such a hunk!
If only I was the one in his arms-I'd be the happiest girl alive!" A5 Comment Send gift No Ads Editorial board Editorial Board: Our editorial team works behind the scenes to refine each chapter, maintain consistency, and deliver the best reading experience.
