Chapter 419 Chapter 420 Hector Reed covered the entire coffee table with his certificates and awards. Howard and Linda couldn't hide their admiration as they looked at them. But when Hector made his request, the two of them found themselves in a dilemma. Howard and Linda looked at each other, neither daring to speak up. "Uh, Mr. Reed, you..." Linda was completely at a loss, unable to say a single word. Hector knew he was being a bit abrupt. He leaned in and said to Linda, "Aunt Linda, you and Uncle Howard don't need to feel awkward about this.
I just wanted to let you know-my heart has long belonged to Teresa. I like her, I want to treat her well, and I want to take care of her for the rest of her life. If you're willing to trust me, please give me this chance?" After he finished speaking, he lowered his head. Linda's eyes grew red as she looked at him. After all, he was the apple of his parents' eye, but in front of these parents who were strangers to him, he was willing to humble himself for the one he loves. Linda couldn't help but shed tears. She reached out and quickly helped Hector up.
"Aunt Linda knows you're a good kid, but matters of the heart can't be forced. You..." Her words were like a knife to Hector's heart. Howard could tell she was being a little harsh, so he nudged her elbow, telling her to drop it. Just then, Yvonne came back after dropping Monica off. She saw all the gift boxes Hector had brought, as well as the certificates spread out on the table. Yvonne was sharp-she immediately understood what was going on. She hurried over and handed Hector an orange. "Good morning, Mr. Reed.
Try this orange-it's really good." Hector took the orange and thanked her warmly, "Thanks, Yvonne." He replied, but didn't peel the orange. Yvonne noticed his fingers tightening unconsciously and instantly realized he was nervous. Yvonne chuckled, then said to Hector, "Mr. Reed, you being interested in Teresa just proves how lucky she is. We'll let her know how you feel, but she's grown up now-she makes her own choices.
So, in the end, it's up to her, and we really can't give you an answer on her behalf." After Yvonne finished, Hector stood up, gave a small bow, and said sincerely, "Thanks, Yvonne, and thanks to both of you." Yvonne got up too when she saw Hector stand up. Linda and Howard quickly stood up after Yvonne did. Yvonne said, "Mr. Reed, you don't have to be so polite." Hector straightened up with a serious look on his face. "Alright, I'll get going." Yvonne quickly said, "Let me walk you out." Hector was about to say no, but seeing Yvonne already coming over, he didn't say anything else.
When Yvonne came back after walking Hector out, she found Linda and Howard sitting on the couch, looking really worried and sighing over and over. Yvonne glanced at them and couldn't help but ask, "Why do you both look so gloomy?" Linda kept sighing. "He's such a good kid, but we have no idea what Teresa really wants." Yvonne smiled. "Mom, just let Teresa decide for herself this time." Linda shook her head, and when she looked up again, her eyes were red. "I'm just scared she'll fall into the same trap again.

How many seven or eight years does one get in a lifetime?" Yvonne tried to comfort her. "Don't worry so much, Mom. The more you think about it, the more tangled up you'll get." Linda didn't say anything else and just lowered her head again. Meanwhile, up on the second floor, Teresa caught every word of what was happening downstairs. She thought to herself, 'Maybe I should just go and talk to Hector, set things straight.' Teresa spent the whole day at home, agonizing over how to say it to Hector. She even scribbled out a draft in her notebook. Before she knew it, the day had slipped away.
By evening, it started snowing again outside. It was barely past five, but the sky was already darkening. The maid came upstairs and called out to Teresa. "Teresa, Linda asked me to let you know dinner's ready downstairs." There was only one maid working at the Sullivan Mansion. Teresa grabbed her crutches and slowly made her way out of the room. "Okay, I'll head down now." The maid offered, "Let me bring your wheelchair up for you." Teresa gave her a gentle smile. "Thanks." As soon as she made it downstairs, a tall, imposing figure strode in through the front door-it was Troy.
Teresa wasn't surprised to see him. He'd been dropping by the Sullivan Mansion a lot these past couple of days, moving around like it was his own place. It was like he was already part of the family. When Troy saw Teresa making her way with crutches, he walked right over without missing a beat. "Why aren't you in your wheelchair today?" As he spoke, he reached out and supported her by the arm.
Teresa looked up at him and said, "Sitting too long starts to feel uncomfortable, so I figured I'd stretch my legs a little." Troy couldn't bear to lecture her, so he just helped her over to the table and sat her down. After Teresa sat down, Troy went into the kitchen to help Linda carry out the dinner. Theodore Sullivan was busy with work and didn't make it home for dinner. With Troy around, Teresa was unusually quiet while eating. Half an hour later, the family finished their meal.
After Troy helped clear the dishes and put them away in the kitchen, he turned to Linda and said, "Aunt Linda, I'm taking Teresa out to meet a couple of my friends." Linda looked a little uneasy and was about to say no, but Troy thumped his chest and said, "Don't worry, Aunt Linda.
I swear, I'll make sure she gets home safe and sound." Since he said that, Linda couldn't really refuse anymore, so she just said, "Alright, but make sure you're back early." Troy replied, "I'll have her back before ten." As Troy walked out of the kitchen, he saw Teresa standing by the door, gazing out the window at the falling snow. She looked like she had a lot on her mind. He came over gently and draped a coat over her shoulders. "Will you come with me to meet a friend?" Teresa snapped out of her thoughts and looked at Troy with a curious look.
"Who is it?" Troy didn't give her a straight answer. "You'll see when we get there." Seeing how secretive he was, Teresa couldn't help but feel a bit curious. So, she followed him out of the Sullivan Mansion. The snow outside was really deep, so Troy carefully picked her up and gently settled her into the passenger seat, then fastened her seatbelt for her. With snow chains on the tires, the car drove for about twenty minutes before they finally arrived at their destination-a Hong Kong-style diner. Troy helped Teresa inside and stopped in front of a curtain.
When he pulled it aside, Teresa saw Peyton waiting for them in a private booth. She froze for a second, and then Peyton spoke up, "Ms. Sullivan, come on in. I'd like to hear everything about your marriage to Charles. The more details you share, the better I'll understand your situation-and the better shot we'll have at winning this divorce lawsuit." 'A divorce lawsuit?' Teresa was stunned-her mind just went numb. She stood there, frozen, unable to process it for a long moment. From the start, she'd only wanted a peaceful breakup, but she never thought things would actually come to this.
She used to love him like he was a drug, but now all she had left for him was hate and blame. In the end, they were bound to end up as enemies.
