Chapter 445 Chapter 446 On stage, after the host and organizers finished handing out the awards, the winning bloggers linked arms and walked off together. But Wendy was the only one who came down alone, clutching her trophy in one hand and lifting her dress with the other. Even though she was by herself, she didn't look the least bit nervous. Every step she took was so elegant, it was eyes off her. as if she was walking on blooming petals-no one could take their Teresa didn't even notice anyone else-her eyes were fixed on Wendy.
And as Wendy came down from the stage, she was looking right at Teresa too. Their eyes met across the room, and in that moment, both of them saw encouragement and gratitude in each other's gaze. Seeing Wendy living such a vibrant life, Teresa felt genuinely happy for her. Wendy made her way over to Teresa. As she sat down, she passed her trophy to Teresa, leaned closer and asked quietly, "There's a cocktail party later. Do you want to go?" Teresa didn't turn her down immediately. Instead, she looked at Wendy and asked, "How about you? Do you want to go?" Wendy shook her head, smiling softly.
"You know I'm not really into that kind of thing." Teresa suggested, "Then should we head back?" Wendy smiled and shook her head. "No, let's take a stroll together." Teresa didn't refuse. She nodded and said, "Okay." The event was buzzing with excitement, but to Teresa, it all felt distant-like she was an outsider in someone else's celebration. Surrounded by the lively crowd, she just felt out of place, as if she didn't belong there at all. As soon as Teresa agreed, Wendy stood up without hesitation.
She started pushing the wheelchair and said softly, "Let's go." With that, she began wheeling Teresa through the crowd, apologizing as she navigated past people blocking their way. "Excuse me, could you please make way?" Wendy kept pushing Teresa down the aisle, heading straight for the back door. Meanwhile, Charles heard Teresa and Wendy talking and knew they were heading out. Naomi turned to Charles and noticed his gaze fixed on the direction Teresa and Wendy had gone. Her heart felt like it was being squeezed by an invisible hand.

Only then did he notice her chest was resting against his arm. He could distinctly feel the shape of her chest pressed against his arm. In that moment, Charles quickly pulled his arm away. Naomi felt him move and instinctively let go. Seeing how grim Charles looked, Naomi asked with concern, "Charles, did I hurt you?" Charles shook his head with a frosty look.

"No." She could sense how distant Charles was, but Naomi still spoke softly, "The cocktail party's about to start. Should we go?" Charles was clearly not in the mood. "You go ahead. I've got something to deal with, so I'll head back first." Seeing that Charles didn't want to go, Naomi insisted, "Then I'm not going either." Charles turned to look at her, a bit surprised. "There are so many people at the party, and it's super lively. Why not stay and enjoy it for a while?" Naomi's cheeks turned red as she leaned in so close her lips nearly grazed his cheek.
"But Charles, I just want you by my side." Charles quietly stepped back, putting some distance between them. He looked at her and said softly, "I'll be back after I take care of something." Naomi pouted, her lips sticking out in protest. "Fine." Charles noticed she was upset, so he gently stroked her hair and comforted her, "Come on, just enjoy yourself here. I'll be back to pick you up once I'm done." Naomi knew Charles didn't like it when she got too dramatic, so she backed off. "Alright then." Seeing her agree so obediently, Charles felt reassured.
"Okay, I'm heading out." Naomi nodded, still a bit unwilling. "Mm." When Wendy wheeled Teresa outside, they were greeted by a heavy snowstorm. The temperature had plunged below freezing, and the cold cut right through them. Snowflakes were falling so thick and fast, it was like someone was dumping buckets of snow from the sky. Wendy stopped the wheelchair and asked with concern, "Teresa, are you cold?" As the wheelchair came to a halt, Wendy glanced at Teresa, her voice gentle with worry. Teresa reached out, letting a handful of snowflakes fall into her palm.
Watching them slowly melt, her heart became a swirl of emotions. Teresa's voice was rough as she answered Wendy, "I'm not cold." Wendy reached out and put Teresa's hat on for her. "Even if you don't feel cold, you should still be careful. If you catch a cold, you'll be sorry." Wendy's tone might've sounded a little strict, but it was just because she cared about Teresa. Teresa smiled. "Alright, let's go check it out. I heard things are pretty lively over on the south side." Just as Wendy was about to answer, someone shouted from behind, "Teresa!" It was Charles.
Wendy acted like she hadn't heard Charles at all and just kept wheeling Teresa away. But Charles strode over, grabbed the wheelchair, and said, "Teresa, I need to talk to you." Wendy, clearly annoyed, pushed his arm away. "Charles, what do you want now?" Charles didn't even glance at Wendy. He said coldly, "This doesn't concern you. I'm talking to my wife." Wendy gave a sarcastic smile. "Charles, don't forget-your wife is Naomi." Neither was willing to back down; both were brimming with attitude. After a long moment, Charles finally turned to face Wendy, with nothing but disdain in his eyes.
He said in a low voice, "Get lost!" Wendy took a step forward, her tone cold and defiant. "I'm not moving. So what are you gonna do about it?" Charles stood his ground, refusing to give an inch. The two just stared each other down, neither willing to budge. The silence between them was almost suffocating, the tension hanging heavy in the air. Just then, Teresa slowly turned her head and gave Wendy's arm a reassuring pat. "Wendy, it's okay. Let me talk to him." Wendy shot Teresa a worried look, her words trailing off. "Teresa, you..." Teresa shook her head, her tone firm. "Seriously, I'm good.
Don't worry about me." Seeing Teresa had made up her mind, Wendy hesitated for a moment, but could only step back, a little unwilling. Once Wendy moved aside, Teresa turned to Charles and asked, "So, what do you want to talk about?" Charles shrugged, "Nothing in particular. Just wanted to talk." Teresa cut in, her voice steady, "I think it's time we discussed the divorce." Charles didn't say anything. Instead, he took off his coat and draped it over Teresa's shoulders.
Teresa glanced at the coat on her shoulders, didn't refuse it, and asked with a playful smile, "Aren't you worried someone might snap a photo and post it online? And if Ms. Yates sees it, won't you have a hard time explaining yourself?" Charles just shrugged, totally unfazed. "Nah, Naomi's not the type to make a fuss." Teresa laughed, looking up at Charles with a curious, slightly skeptical tone. "Do you really know her?" Charles didn't say a word. He just looked at Teresa quietly. After a long pause, Teresa let out a quiet laugh.
She reached up and gently slipped off the coat, which still held Charles's lingering warmth. She handed it back to him and said, "Thanks for your kindness, but I'm past the time when I needed it." 田 AD Comment Send gift No Ads 65 vouchers Editorial board Editorial Board: Our editorial team works behind the scenes to refine each chapter, maintain consistency, and deliver the best reading experience.
