Chapter 421 Chapter 422 Hector stood in front of Teresa's wheelchair, his hand still shielding her from the snow, unable to bring himself to move it away. His other hand remained suspended awkwardly in the air, stiff and unmoving. After what felt like an eternity, he finally forced himself to pull it back. Once he withdrew his hand, Hector lowered his eyes, his voice low and quict. "Teresa, I know your heart doesn't have a place for me." Her heart gave a little jolt at Hector's words. After a moment of silence, she spoke softly to comfort him. "Hector, you're such an amazing guy.
I really believe you'll find someone even better for you." Hector hesitated, his voice faltering. "Teresa, I..." He wanted nothing more than to tell her how much he cared, how he'd always treat her right, but Teresa cut him off. "Hector, will we still be friends?" Hector was at a loss for words. "I..." Just then, a clear, lively voice called out, "Mr. Reed, you're such a great guy. If you don't mind, I could introduce you to a couple more people." At that moment, Hector looked like he'd just won a battle, a triumphant smile lighting up his face.
In the end, Teresa's heart had finally chosen him. But Hector didn't even bother to respond, refusing to look his way. When Teresa saw the exhaustion and defeat written all over Hector's face, it felt like someone stabbed her in the heart. She cared deeply for him, but this was the only way to treat him with honesty and respect. Even though Hector said nothing, Teresa finally broke the silence. "Hector, I'm heading back now." She turned to Troy. "Troy, let's go." Troy nodded and came over to push her wheelchair.
As Troy started to wheel her away, Hector instinctively called after her, his voice soft and aching, "Teresa..." But Teresa just kept moving, not even turning back. Troy didn't pause for a second, simply kept wheeling her forward and out of sight. At the next intersection, Troy stopped the wheelchair, and the two of them waited for the traffic light. Troy walked around the wheelchair and crouched down in front of Teresa. He took her hands in his and placed them over his heart, letting her warm up against him. Meanwhile, Hector stood at the hospital entrance, watching as Troy smiled at Teresa.
He couldn't catch their conversation, but then Troy leaned in and planted a soft kiss on her lips. At the traffic light, when Troy grabbed Teresa's hand, her first instinct was to pull away. But with a mischievous grin, Troy said, "Hector's still watching. Are you really not going to keep up the act with me?" Hearing that, Teresa finally stopped resisting. Seeing her give in, Troy's smile grew even wider. "See? It's not like this is our first time kissing." Teresa's cheeks flushed as she gave him a playful glare, but before she could react, Troy leaned in and claimed her lips.
He didn't just give her a quick peck-he kissed her like he meant it, deep and lingering. People were passing by, and Teresa's cheeks burned even hotter. She tried to shove him off, but he wouldn't budge, so she just hid her face against his shoulder. When the light finally turned green, Troy gently let her go and said, "Be good. I'll take care of the wheelchair." Teresa straightened up, and Troy stood up as well. Once they crossed the street, they disappeared from Hector's sight for good.

When they got back to the Sullivan Mansion, Theodore was already home, helping himself to the dinner Yvonne had saved for him. As Troy wheeled Teresa through the front door, Theodore shot them a look, didn't say a thing, and just kept shoveling food into his mouth. Troy looked over at Theodore, concern in his voice.
"Theodore, working late again?" Theodore didn't even glance his way, just replied with a short, "Yeah." Troy said, "Must've been tough on you, Theodore." Theodore answered in the same indifferent tone, "Yeah." Seeing Theodore's indifferent attitude, Troy, though a bit unwilling, took the hint. "Alright, I'll head out for now. I'll drop by to see Teresa tomorrow." Theodore finished his food, grabbed a napkin, and wiped his mouth. Without even looking up, he told the servant, "Show Mr.
Hamilton out." Troy saw the servant approaching and quickly said, "No need, I can see myself out." Chapter 422 The servant glanced at Theodore, clearly looking to him for direction. Theodore just said nonchalantly, "Let Mr. Hamilton decide for himself." 55 vouchers Even though Theodore wasn't exactly kicking him out, Troy knew he couldn't force things with Teresa. The fact that Theodore actually let him come and go at the Sullivan Mansion was a big deal. Besides, Theodore had already said he wanted Teresa and Troy to take things slow.
If those two ever really made it official, he'd be totally fine with it. But for now, Teresa was still married, and she hadn't really given Troy a chance yet. Turning to Teresa, Troy said, "Teresa, I'm heading out now. I'll come by tomorrow." Teresa nodded, giving him a gentle smile. "Alright, drive safe on your way home. Text me when you get there." As Troy walked past her, he reached out and affectionately ruffled her hair. "Got it." With that, Troy headed out. As soon as Troy left, Yvonne came downstairs. Seeing Teresa back, Yvonne looked a bit puzzled. "Where's Troy?
Didn't he come with you?" Teresa answered honestly, "Yvonne, Troy just left." Yvonne glanced over at Theodore, and seeing his usual indifferent look, she knew he was just playing it cryptic again. Yvonne didn't say anything more. She walked behind Teresa's wheelchair and asked gently, "Teresa, let me help you upstairs, okay?" Teresa nodded with a soft smile. "Okay, thank you." Once Yvonne had wheeled Teresa upstairs, she took a seat by the bed in Teresa's room. Yvonne looked at Teresa, curiosity in her voice. "Did you go see Hector?" Teresa nodded.
"Yeah, I saw him." Yvonne had already guessed how things would turn out. If Teresa really had feelings for Hector, she never would've married Charles without a second thought. But Hector was such an honest, kind, and truly amazing guy. Even Yvonne felt it was such a shame. After a couple of sighs, Yvonne turned to Teresa and said, "Mr. Reed is honestly such a great guy. It's a real pity you had to turn him down. But if Troy's in the picture, you're better off choosing him." Teresa didn't say anything. Honestly, she wasn't even sure if Troy was really a good guy or not.
When Teresa stayed quiet, Yvonne glanced over again, curiosity in her voice. "Do you think I should introduce Mr. Reed to some of my friends?" Teresa knew Yvonne was always so warm-hearted, so she didn't want to dampen her spirits. "Sure, give it a try. Who knows, maybe Hector will actually like one of them." But Yvonne just sighed. "He might not be interested, though." Teresa didn't answer, just said softly, "Yvonne, will you stay with me tonight?" Yvonne instinctively glanced toward the window, then looked back at Teresa, a little puzzled. "You want me to stay with you?" Teresa nodded.
"Yeah." Yvonne didn't refuse. "Sure, but we need to close the window. Ever since Monica was born, I've been so sensitive to the cold." Teresa could tell Yvonne was hinting at something, but she didn't say anything more. Teresa and Yvonne lay side by side in bed, the silence between them stretching on. After a long while, Yvonne finally broke the quiet. "Is there something you want to ask me?" Teresa hesitated, her lips parting, but she just couldn't find the words. Yvonne could see how torn Teresa was, so she gently reassured her, "Just follow your heart.
Both Troy and Hector are great guys, and honestly, they're both way better than Charles." Teresa nodded softly. "Yeah, I know." Yvonne shifted to face Teresa, curiosity sparkling in her eyes. "So, by turning Hector down, is that your way of saying you've picked Troy?" Teresa hesitated, not sure how to respond. She just closed her eyes, dodging the question, and murmured, "Let's just sleep now." Honestly, Teresa wished she knew the answer herself. She didn't pick Hector because she never even considered crossing that line with him.
He was so outstanding, so innocent-he hadn't even dated anyone before, while she'd already been married and had a child. As for Troy, she guessed she really did like him. But if she got together with him, would she just end up repeating the same old story? When the thrill wore off, would that spark still last between them?
