Chapter 446 Chapter 447 Teresa's words carried a hidden meaning, and she wasn't sure if Charles caught on. Charles understood her perfectly. He looked down, watching as she handed him his coat, but for a long moment, he didn't reach out to take it. He didn't want to take it, and he stubbornly tried to ignore what Teresa was really saying. But no matter how hard he tried to convince himself otherwise, Teresa's attitude said it all. She was nothing like the Teresa he used to know. Seeing that Charles still wouldn't take the coat, Teresa spoke up again. "Charles, take it back.
I don't need it anymore." Her words still carried a hidden meaning. Charles still didn't move. He just looked down into Teresa's eyes, curious. "If it was Troy handing you the coat, would you push him away?" Teresa didn't answer directly. She just said, "Charles, that's none of your business." Charles's heart sank. "We're still married. How could it not be my business?" Then he quickly added, "If you're getting close to Troy now, that's cheating on me while we're still married." Teresa let out a cold laugh at his words.
She shook her head and said, "So you stopped me just to throw that in my face?" With that, she tossed the coat onto the ground. Charles looked down at the coat. It was a custom-made designer piece, worth a fortune, but Teresa had just thrown it on the ground like it was nothing. He didn't bother to pick it up. Instead, he looked at Teresa and asked, "Do we really have to take this to court?" Teresa let out a soft laugh. "We don't have to go to court.
If you're willing to sign the papers, we can each move on with our own lives." Charles paused, then asked, "Can't we just not get divorced?" Teresa replied quickly, "If you won't agree to the divorce, then we'll have to take it to court." Charles's voice grew sharper. "If you insist on this, there'll be no turning back for us." Teresa sat quietly in her wheelchair. She was nothing like the girl whose whole world used to revolve around Charles. Her eyes were icy, her voice even colder.
She looked straight at Charles and said, "From the moment I filed the lawsuit, I knew there was no turning back. See you in court, Charles." With that, Teresa turned her wheelchair and started to wheel herself away from him. But just as she turned, Charles's big hand landed on the wheelchair. He moved around and crouched in front of her, looking up into her cold, determined eyes. "Are you really sure about this?" he asked. Teresa didn't hesitate. "Yes, I'm sure." Charles still wouldn't give up.
"Once we're divorced, Yolanda and I will both be someone else's." At the mention of Yolanda, Teresa's eyes grew red, but her voice stayed firm. "Charles, I never try to hold onto things that don't belong to me. Since you and Yolanda care so much about Naomi, I'll step aside for you two. All I ask is that you let me go." 'Let me go?' Charles thought, caught off guard. Teresa actually used those words-'let me go! Hearing that, Charles was momentarily stunned. He never imagined Teresa would ever ask him to let her go. Teresa lowered her head and pushed Charles's hand off her wheelchair.

At the same time, she started wheeling herself away and called out, "Wendy." Wendy turned around at Teresa's call. Realizing Teresa wanted to leave, she hurried over and helped wheel her out. But after only a few steps, Teresa suddenly remembered something and called out urgently, "Wendy, wait a second." Wendy stopped the wheelchair. Teresa turned around to look at Charles and called out to him, "Charles." Charles's eyes lit up at her voice. He blurted out, "Are you changing your mind again?" Teresa stared at him, her gaze still cold.
"Have you ever done something you feel guilty about?" Teresa wondered if Charles had anything to do with Troy's grandmother's grave being dug up. But Charles didn't understand what she was getting at. He just looked at her, puzzled, and stayed silent. Teresa saw his reaction and let it drop. She just said, "See you in court." With that, Wendy started wheeling Teresa out. Charles didn't try to stop them. He just stood there, watching as Teresa and Wendy wheeled away. Wendy had only pushed Teresa a few steps when they ran into Naomi.
She was dressed to the nines in a formal gown, but had a puffer jacket draped over her shoulders. The snow was coming down hard, and her lips were blue from the cold. Naomi stood right in the middle of the path, like she was deliberately blocking their way. Wendy stopped the wheelchair and shot Naomi a cold look. "Ms. Yates, you know the saying-good dogs don't block the way, right?" Naomi didn't even glance at Wendy. Her eyes were fixed on Teresa. She didn't say a word, just stared at Teresa. After a long moment, Teresa spoke up with a sarcastic smile. "Got something to say, Ms.
Yates?" Naomi still kept her mouth shut. Seeing her stay silent, Teresa lowered her voice, her tone icy. "Well, good luck, Ms. Yates. If you and Mr. Logan finally end up together, maybe I can finally escape this hellhole. If you really make it happen, I'll be sure to thank you for it." With every word Teresa said, Naomi's face turned uglier and uglier. Naomi kept her mouth shut the whole time. Wendy didn't bother arguing with someone like Naomi. She just took a detour with Teresa and left.
Charles watched as Teresa and Wendy ran into Naomi, but he was too far away to hear what they were saying. After Teresa and Wendy left, Charles picked up the coat from the ground and walked over to Naomi. Naomi saw him coming and forced a smile. "Charles." Charles didn't bother with any comforting words. He just blurted out, "What did she say to you?" Naomi shook her head, her eyes a little blank as she stared at Charles. Then Charles, sounding all worried, asked, "Did she insult you?" Naomi almost said no, but after hesitating for a second, she nodded.
"Yeah." Instead of feeling sorry for Naomi, Charles actually felt a weird rush of satisfaction inside. Charles couldn't help but think to himself, 'Maybe Teresa still gives a damn about me after all. 'If she didn't, why would she go out of her way to give Naomi a hard time?' he mused, feeling oddly pleased with himself. After Wendy dropped Teresa off at the gate of the Sullivan Mansion, she grabbed a cab and headed home. When Teresa entered the front hall, Theodore was lounging in the living room, scrolling through news on his phone. He looked up with a puzzled look as Teresa came in.
"Back on your own again today?" Teresa chuckled. "No, Wendy brought me back." Theodore, knowing Teresa was twisting his words on purpose, got straight to the point. "So where's Troy? Haven't seen him sticking to you these past couple days." Teresa explained, "He's just been busy these past couple days, so he hasn't come by." Theodore's tone turned sour. "What could be so important that he's so busy he can't even drop by?" Teresa didn't want to get into the details about Troy, but she honestly had no idea how to make up an excuse for him anymore. Her silence made Theodore worry.
"If he's not serious about you, don't go getting your hopes up for nothing." Teresa replied softly, "Got it, Theodore." With that, she headed upstairs. Once she was upstairs, Teresa reached for her phone to text Troy, but after thinking it over, she decided against it and put it away. 'What's the difference between how I'm acting now and how I used to be with Charles?' she thought. 'Maybe being too forward isn't always a good thing. Sometimes it just backfires,' she mused. She figured Troy would reach out to her once he was done with whatever he was busy with.
