Chapter 424 Chapter 425 Wendy wheeled Teresa over to a spot not far from Charles and the others, then stopped the wheelchair. Once they stopped, Wendy started browsing through the clothes, picking out one piece after another. Whenever she found something she liked, she'd hold it up against herself and ask Teresa, "Teresa, do think this looks good on me?" you Teresa looked Wendy over carefully before giving her honest opinion. "Yeah, the color's really eye-catching. It suits you perfectly.

With your fair skin, you'll look like a porcelain doll in that." Wendy blushed a little at the compliment. "Come on, am I really that pretty?" Teresa nodded with conviction. "I'm not exaggerating, it's really that good." Ever since that incident with Wendy, Teresa had hardly seen her smile. Seeing Wendy so happy tonight, Teresa didn't push to leave. Even though Charles was here too, Teresa thought that as long as they stayed out of each other's way, nothing would go wrong. Wendy, hearing Teresa talk her up like that, couldn't help but laugh.

"Alright, maybe I should go try it on?" Teresa smiled. "Go for it, I'll be right here waiting." Just as Wendy was about to head into the fitting room with her clothes, Yolanda suddenly shrieked, "That's Miss Naomi's fitting room! Go find another one!" Teresa heard Yolanda and almost called her out for being so rude. But the words got stuck in her throat before she could say anything. Right now, she felt she didn't even have the right to say anything to Yolanda. And even if she did, Yolanda wouldn't care anyway, so what was the point? Wendy wasn't the type to back down easily.

She shot Yolanda a fierce glare, her temper flaring and words right on the tip of her tongue. But then she remembered-this was Teresa's kid. With a huff, she swallowed her retort and kept quiet. In the end, Wendy just let it go and slipped into a different fitting room. While Wendy was in the fitting room, Teresa buried herself in her phone, pretending to be busy. She used her phone as a shield, both to cover up her awkwardness and to avoid accidentally looking over at Charles and his group. Meanwhile, ever since Charles realized Teresa was around, he didn't even look her way once.

It was obvious he was trying to steer clear of her. After Naomi finished trying on her outfit and got Yolanda's praise, she couldn't help but glance over at Charles. "Charles, what do you think?" Charles looked Naomi up and down, then grinned. "It looks amazing. Just keep it on, I'll get it for you." Naomi smiled. "Thanks, Charles. You're so sweet." Charles laughed. "That's what I'm here for." With that, Charles turned to the sales assistant. "How much is this?" The sales assistant's face broke into a huge grin. "Mr. Logan, this is the best outfit in our store.

It's really not expensive just 970,000 dollars for the set." Teresa almost did a double take when she heard the price. 'Seriously? That's just ridiculous. Charles should probably turn it down, right?' she thought to herself. But before she could even finish that thought, Charles didn't hesitate for a second. "Alright, just swipe my card." Hearing how easily he threw down that kind of money, Teresa couldn't help but let out a cold little snort. Just then, Wendy came out of the fitting room. She didn't even bother checking herself out in the mirror-she just made a beeline for Teresa.

Bending down, Wendy muttered through gritted teeth right in Teresa's ear, "Teresa, seriously, I want to punch him." She'd caught all of that while she was in the fitting room. Teresa gave a soft smile and told Wendy, "Don't worry about it, it's really not a big deal." Wendy huffed, still annoyed. "Just pick two outfits, I'm buying them for you." Teresa kept smiling. "Don't be so stubborn, Wendy. I really don't need clothes this fancy." Wendy was still frustrated, refusing to let it go. "Not happening.

You're getting them, even if they just sit there and gather dust." Teresa burst out laughing at Wendy's stubbornness. "Alright, alright, let's drop the drama. That outfit looks amazing on you-why not see what it costs?" Wendy straightened up, sneaking a look over at Charles. Seeing that "perfect little family" acting all close, her blood was practically boiling. But getting mad wasn't going to change a thing. After thinking it over, Wendy huffed, "What's the point in asking? Let's just buy it already.

Trust me, I've got this." Wendy was a big-time social media influencer with tons of fans-she could easily afford it. Teresa nodded. "Sure, I'll wait right here." Wendy, still fuming inside, went over to the sales assistant to pay. As she turned around, the tag on her outfit got snagged on a clothing hook. Without thinking, she kept walking forward, and the whole clothing rack toppled over with a loud crash. Teresa's wheelchair was parked right next to the rack, and the whole thing was tipping straight toward her.

Wendy felt the tug and whipped her head around, her heart skipping a beat when she saw the rack about to crash onto Teresa. Without thinking, she threw herself in front of it and blocked it with her hands. The full weight of the rack slammed into Wendy's arm, but she didn't flinch-she quickly threw her body in front of it to shield Teresa. By the time Teresa realized what was happening, she saw Wendy's arm was already bleeding badly, the wound deep and blood streaming down. "Wendy, are you okay?" Teresa cried out, her voice tight with worry.

She tried to help, but with her leg still injured, she couldn't stand up and couldn't even reach the rack. Panic rising, she called out desperately, "Charles, help me!" Charles, Naomi, and Yolanda all saw what was happening, but none of them even bothered to help. They just watched, totally unfazed, like it had nothing to do with them. Just then, the sales assistant hurried over and managed to prop the rack back up. Once the rack was back up, Teresa finally let out a sigh of relief. But when she saw Wendy's arm still bleeding, she panicked.

"Wendy, we need to get you to the-" Before she could finish, the sales assistant cut her off, her voice cold and sharp. "You broke the rack and ruined the clothes. You owe us money!" Teresa shot the sales assistant a furious glare. "Your setup is dangerous, and now a customer's been hurt. You're the ones who should be paying up!" The sales assistant gave Teresa a sarcastic look. "Us pay? Do you even realize how much these clothes are worth?" "How much?" Teresa shot back, her voice sharp. "Any single piece here goes for hundreds of thousands. This whole rack? Easily over ten million.

We're not even trying to scam you-just pay us five million and we'll call it even." Teresa didn't even hesitate. "No way." Wendy stood off to the side, holding her bleeding arm and watching the blood drip down, completely stunned. Hearing Teresa refuse, the sales assistant shot back, her voice full of arrogance, "Then you're not leaving this. store." Teresa didn't even bother listening to the sales assistant. She pulled out her phone, about to call the police. But before she could dial, the sales assistant lunged over and snatched the phone right out of her hand.

Teresa reached out, her tone sharp and urgent. "Give me my phone back!" The sales assistant just smirked, still full of herself. "Pay up, then you get your phone." Teresa could only sputter, her anger rising. "You..." Wendy was still reeling from everything, but the sales assistant's attitude just pushed her over the edge. Without hesitation, she swung her bloody arm and smacked the sales assistant right across the face. "Are you a sales assistant, or just someone's lapdog?" Wendy's words had a hidden meaning, and Teresa picked up on it instantly.

She turned to Charles, only to see him looking at her with that calm, indifferent gaze-no words, no emotion, just a cold, distant stare. In that instant, Teresa realized-the sales assistant was only this arrogant because Charles must have been the one giving her the green light. The sales assistant instantly lost her attitude after getting slapped, suddenly looking a lot more meek. Wendy still wasn't satisfied. She scoffed at the sales assistant, "Lapdog! Pathetic!" Teresa gently tugged Wendy's arm, signaling her to let it go.

Wendy worried her fierceness might cause trouble for Teresa, but she still shot the sales assistant a deadly glare. "Just wait-my lawyer will be in touch." With that, Wendy wheeled Teresa straight out of the store. Naomi turned to look at Charles, catching that icy chill in his gaze. She was the one who'd shot the sales assistant a look, telling her exactly what to do. All the while, Charles just stood there, acting like he couldn't care less. But right then, Naomi couldn't help but feel that maybe Charles didn't hate Teresa as much as he pretended.
